Serbs are nice people accept others live with them and in turn become assimilated by their non Serb friends, (ex serbs including: montenegrins/bosnjaks/romanians/hungarians/croats/macedonians/bulgarians/albanians/turks) not everyone of them of course but many people that once where Serb belong now to one of these ethnic groups.
(mick, 17 January 2012 18:10)

I think no one doubts that most average Serbs , like most average Croats , Slovenes , Kosovars , Americans , Russians etc are all wonderfull people - i think that goes without saying.

But you just lost ALL credibility when you just claimed that most of " montenegrins/bosnjaks/romanians/hungarians/croats/macedonians/bulgarians/albanians/turks)" where once Serbian.

Im thinking you must have read this from the serbian Academy of Arts and Science , circa 1980's.

Maybe you should read something other than political propoganda :

you know like-

Roman History
Greek history
Bulgarian History
Illyrian History
Croat History
Turkish history
Macedonian History
Albanian History
European Military History
European Social History

also see case studies in anthropology and genetics may also suffice.

Im sure many a university professor would be waiting in anticipation to read your , shall we say , "interesting" theories.

One things for certain - you guys NEVER fail to put a smile on our faces.

Writing this stuff late at night does have its dangers in that you do make errors. I should have said the there were 20 Presidents where an attempt was made or succeeded and 4 were shot with possibly as high as 6.

My point is even your heroes have a much longer tradition of killing their beloved leaders.

LOL Danilo,
In Yugoslavia If Serbs expressed themselves that they love serbia and that they are Serbians, the next day they would sleep in a Prison.
Serbs where forced to be Yugoslavs or anything but Serbs!
Instead look at the non Serbs in Yugoslavia they had their own Nationalism and fascism in the past!
And stop that nonsense of Serbian nationalism, Serbs are nice people accept others live with them and in turn become assimilated by their non Serb friends, (ex serbs including: montenegrins/bosnjaks/romanians/hungarians/croats/macedonians/bulgarians/albanians/turks) not everyone of them of course but many people that once where Serb belong now to one of these ethnic groups.

Just to clarify for those who seem to be mistaken: Danilo lives in Switzerland most of the time, or so I've read.

As for the actual news story, well... Lol. I'm a bit confused. I mean, I'd imagine that the type of person who'd want to assassinate Tadic would be a hearty Serbian nationalist, who'd be fully supportive of church policy and would throw his weight behind Irinej instantly. Yet, they included Irinej in the list as well? Seems kinda troll-like, to be honest.

So this story is about an alleged assasination attempt upon Tadic and others and people are debating EU membership.

Is the implication that those attempted murderers wanted to kill Tadic and company because they seek EU membership?

And is the implication that those who are talking about it are supporting murder because they are against EU membership.

If I'm wrong then somebody can point out what the connection is.
(bganon, 16 January 2012 22:03)

bganon, I just had to reply to your comment simply to point out the obsession that goes around K. in serbian circles. At no point in the article is K. mention, the article it's not even in the K. Status section of this news media and yet the comments always start with Albanians and K.
Just an observation on how deep is this obsession implanted in Serbian psychic. Again, I don't meant to say that they should not talk about it, but the article is by no means related to K. issue or EU membership, as you pointed out as well.
Thank you for your balanced views, as always is a pleasure to see someone who understand the concept of "agreeing to disagree".

How many people come on this site and advocate ethnic cleansing of non-Serbs?

That traditional Serbian nationalism is inherently violent is self-evident really.

Whether it exists in other balkans nations, I don't know.
(Danilo, 17 January 2012 12:08)

What is self-evident is your constant hatred for Serbians. Nationalism in general is inherently violent. It is not unique to Serbians.

I don't know why you keep your head buried in the sand. You have an issue with Serbians advocating ethnic cleansing and shrug your shoulders regarding nationalism in other Balkan entities, however, it was both the Albanians and Croatians who successfully ethnically cleansed Serbians on a massive scale with Western blessing and assistance.

Based on these examples, if the Serb nationalist is to learn anything, it is that ethnic cleansing works. What do you think is happening to the Palestinians? The foundations of the US is built on ethnic cleansing and genocide. I mean, where are the American Indians? What happened to them? There were 12 million in 1500 but barely 237,000 in 1900.

It is time you woke up.

SCP UK

Danilo,

Your efforts to change your words and argument are pathetic. There is violence all over the political spectrum, to place it solely with nationalists or patriots is ridiculous. As for your example of the murdered Frenchman in Belgrade, the fact that you label this to nationalism is also ridiculous, I dont know but maybe this is what you LDP people do to create liberal propaganda, but you are clearly unaware of the amount of patriots that came out to condemn that murder, because of course there was no excuse for it and it was a terrible crime. We both know that that was a result of football hooligan violence, not connected with nationalism, so stop talking rubbish.

As I have explained to you, I am not in a secure financial situation to be able to move to another country, but when I am I will. You on the other hand are clearly intent on staying in Belgrade, yet hate it so much. It is comforting though knowing that you are of a small strange minority in Serbia, and people like you will never gain a foothold in power.

Do you do any research or do you just sit down and start typing the first thing that comes to your head?
There have been 4 presidents assassinated in US history, the last one was John F Kennedy in 1963, almost 50 years ago. I remember the day. There have been many threats and attempts over the 200+ year history of the US but probably less than most countries of the world.

Your comments never fail to make me laugh, but this is a new level. But can I ask why on earth do you continue to live in Serbia, the land of Serbian culture, if it is so cruel and violent? There have been 4 presidents assassinated in US history, the last one was John F Kennedy in 1963, almost 50 years ago. I remember the day. There have been many threats and attempts over the 200+ year history of the US but probably less than most countries of the world.

But, everywhere in the world, whenever a political leader is losing popularity and is about to be voted out of office, these "assassination" rumors mysteriously pop up. How many people come on this site and advocate ethnic cleansing of non-Serbs?

That traditional Serbian nationalism is inherently violent is self-evident really.

Whether it exists in other balkans nations, I don't know.
(Danilo, 17 January 2012 12:08)
--
What is self-evident is your constant hatred for Serbians.

Danilo

pre 12 godina

who are you referring to, papajohn?

United States of Albania? Well, I'd say that his comment is pretty spot-on. There is something inherently violent about "traditional" Serbian nationalism, and that violence is focused first on dissidents. to my ears, "Samo sloga Srbina spasava" contains an implicit invitation to violence against whomever is against "sloga".

no point in crying "wa wa wa. 'Serbophobia'" (ridiculous) when someone points out Serbian violence in an article about aborted Serbian violence.

Look at the comments in this thread. You've got some Serb (arn Sweden) expressing his disappointment that the assassination wasn't successful, calling it "historical forces", as though a "historical force" could be capable of pulling a trigger.

Instead of crying over criticism, Serbs (and foreigners who's gone native) would do well to address and confront that in Serbian culture which is inherently violent.

I, for one, think there's more than a grain of truth in United States of Albania's post.

ps. I hope a "historical force" hits arn Sweden in the head.

I didn't say Serbian culture is inherently violent, I said "there is something about traditional Serbian nationalism that is inherently violent"

How many violent acts have been committed in the name of Serbian nationalism?

How many times has Belgrade been smashed-up by thugs in the name of "Serbian nationalism" in the past 5 years?

You had people praising the murder of that French tourist a few years back as some sort of expression of Serbian patriotism

Look around Belgrade... I don't think any city in the world has as much graffiti entreating violence.

How many political figures have been assassinated by "patriots"?

How many people come on this site and advocate ethnic cleansing of non-Serbs?

That traditional Serbian nationalism is inherently violent is self-evident really.

This is a variety of ugliness that is particular to the balkans and it shouldn't be taboo to talk about it. Whether it exists in other balkans nations, I don't know. Probably. It's not relevant really because we're talking about Serbian violence here.

As for you not understanding why I'm in Belgrade, I don't need for you to understand. I'm here as little as possible. Question is, why are you NOT in Serbia since you have the option and seem to hate it in the UK. I can't even imagine how many Serbs would trade with you if they could.
