The difference here is that what the Albanians are doing to Serbs in Kosovo are hate crimes. Big difference and yes earth shattering.
(Peggy, 11 January 2012 11:13)

Sorry that I did not make myself clear. I was referring to the report from the UNSG - not Peggy's report. There is nothing in the UNSG report speaking about hate crimes. But, I agree, Peggy's reports are earth-shattering :)

Ok, we know that there are crimes in Kosovo, people shooting at police killing police officers, etc. Happens in Serbia and all over the world. Not sure what is earth-shattering here.

"However, criminal incidents affecting minority communities nearly doubled during the past three months compared to the same period the previous year (77 cases as at 15 July, compared to 38 in 2010). There were five instances of buses
transporting ethnic Serbs being stoned. Although most other cases consisted of low-level harassment, intimidation, assault and damage to property, a few serious incidents were also reported, such as an assault on three Kosovo Serb police officers
on duty by a group of Kosovo Albanian armed men on 2 July and the stabbing of a Serb in Mitrovica. "

LOL! Violence against Serbs has never generated bad publicity for anyone ever! LOL Violence against Serbs was always depicted as legitimate frustration by Albanainans and why they deserved indpendence! Standards before status was dropped after more violence against Serbs. You forget that Serbs have been depicted as wanting to kill all Albanians in Kosovo and so any violence by Albanians agaist Serbs is always justified. Thaci could start killing all the serbs in kosovo tomorrow and people in NATO and US and GB and EU would be like "that's understandable-we condemn the Serbs and their violence!"

Why are there so many arguements between Pro alabanians and pro serbs on a belgrade based website? I am pro serb 100%, but i have never been to a pro alabanian website to make comments and stir things up. I guess thats the difference between the two sides.

Also you have just implied that every day Serbs get stoned whenever they attend church, when in fact only Tadic and co had stones thrown at their cars for exploiting a religious visit by politicising it. Big difference.

From an UNMIK report from 2011:

Every single Serb being driven away from Kosovo would be really bad publicity for Thaci, this is the last thing he wants. He wants the Serbs of Kosovo to integrate with the rest of Kosovo.

Sure it would be bad publicity and he would not do it if it got publicity but I seriously doubt that any media in a western country would be interested in it.
He would be assured of not making the news, especially in England, France and the US.

There is a division between serbs in Kosovo. Serbs south of the ibar are deathly afraid of being killed by Albanians at all times and need round the clock protection and have chosen to collaborate with KLA and NATO And EU and Serbs north of the IBar in the majority and are not under constant threat by the KLA and are right next to Serbia. There is a total difference in surroundings that is causing different behavior. Denying it makes them all look stupid.

I am sure it will make headlines in Serbia, it should be a reminder that the only injuries inflicted on the victims of Milosevic were not physical. To some there will be mental damage that will be unrecoverable. Ethnic cleansing campaigns are more about making life unbearable to get people to flee than the physical atrocities themselves.
The world will not see an end to the effects of this reign of terror for quite sometime.

100000+ KSerbs have been driven from Kosovo since KFOR arrival in 1999, up to several thousand killed, many houses burned. See how many bad publicities Thaci has got.

BTW all those things were/are criminal cases for which KFOR/Thaci were/are responsible.
(aaayyy, 9 January 2012 21:38)

No 100,000 Serbs left Kosovo during the Kosovo War, compared to 600,000 Kosovo Albanians. Besides, you can have a look at the reports on the UNMIK website to see how many K-Serbs have returned since KFOR arrived. It is all noted in the appendixes at the end of each of their reports to the UNSC. You can download them in PDF format from the UNMIK website. That was one of the main duties of UNMIK, the return of refugees.

-----------------

Ian, im sorry but you are wrong. Thaci is not concerned about Serbs remaining in Kosovo. He desperately wants them all out. He pays people to keep wiping and cleaning his filthy image. I just feel you do not understand the depth of this conflict. There are so many muslims living in Serbia, none of them get stoned on their way to the mosque.

It was the local Albanian community that brought his efforts to obtain weapons to the attention of the FBI. I don't see that Albanians or Kosovars have anything to be ashamed of. Ian, UK, you talk jibberish. Thaci, and all Albanians, would love to drive all Serbs out of Kosovo, and create a pure albanian state. That has been the Albanian dream since the the League of Prizren. Unfortunately, as often as they (Albaniacs) have tried, they never quite succeeded. Will this time be ant different? Albaniacs have tried to gain the sympathy from various powerful nations in the past to achieve their goal - a pure Albanian land - but they eventually came up short. I do not see this attempt as being any different. Eventually, and deep down inside Albaniacs feel this, they will fail again - and Kosovo will go back to its rightful owners, the Serbs that spilled their blood on that land against the invading Ottomans. I admire your trying though, Albaniacs, but you know the outcome, don't you?

The difference, phaff, is that Kosovo is not an independent county. It is administered by UN Res. 1244. It is supervised by the EU, and peace is maintained by KFOR. If Thaci went to Serbia, he would be arrested for war crimes he is accussed of in the 90's in Kosovo. Tadic is not wanted for war crimes. How many more differences do you want? And believe me, if Thaci had his way, every Serb would be driven from Kosovo. Pristina is dictated to by the EU. You cannot be that ignorant.
(winston, 9 January 2012 14:05)

How is Kosovo administrated by UNSCR 1244? It used to be, but not any more.

Kosovo is administrated by the Government of Kosovo aka Thaci's cabinet in the Kosovo Assembly. UNMIK is dead, it barely has any staff and it transferred it's power to the Kosovo Assembly almost four years ago. UNMIK has four offices in Kosovo, three small ones and a large one in Kosovska Mitrovica; by no means do the UNMIK staff administrate Kosovo, they just write reports to Ban Ki-Moon and the UNSC. UNMIK haven't even issued travel documents for over 3 and half years. KFOR are peacekeepers, so you're right there. How can Kosovo be supervised by the EU, if the EU can't even achieve a common position on Kosovo? If you're referring to EULEX, it is only a temporary policing and judicial mission which will be expired in six months time. Who do you think Kosovo's institutions, ministries, police and services etc answer to? UNMIK, the EU (EULEX), KFOR? They answer to the Kosovo Government aka the Kosovo Assembly and currently Thaci's cabinet. Sure EU countries have helped and supported Kosovo establish itself, these things take time and can't be done over night; but then again EU countries do this for most new states, as well as many long established countries. Every single Serb being driven away from Kosovo would be really bad publicity for Thaci, this is the last thing he wants. He wants the Serbs of Kosovo to integrate with the rest of Kosovo.

Kosovo is no longer part of Serbia, and the people there do NOT EVER want to be under serbian rule again. So he was a guest in Kosovo, and should have refraimed from any political remarks like he did. Really, really unbelievable.
