I agree, there was no genocide committed but there were extremely brutal crimes committed. They have to be dealt with so why was Hague so hell bent on getting all the Serbs there?
The only privileged people who actually got to say that there was genocide committed against them and it stud are the Bosnian Muslims. I know someone will say that there is no privilege in having genocide committed against your people but I am saying this purely because there was no genocide committed against them either. The reason I call them privileged is that they are the only ones whose accusations of genocide were upheld even though there was no truth in it.

I think Koko meant to have a full stop at the end of RS. As to the international bar re genocide - the bar should be high unfortunately it is not a bar but the illusion of a bar much like the horizon line it keeps on moving away the closer you get to it. They have yet to establish a legal binding definition of 'genocide' they only mooted a definition in relation to other events and common understanding of the term; it is still in the too hard jurisprudence basket. If ever there was a chance to set a definition then the BiH case was the best opportunity, however they basically put politics before justice and got home in time for the evening news and a slurp of the old sherry, imported from South Africa I'm sure.

koko what are you talking about, really?

You are saying that Rep Srpska, Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo were founded on genocide and that verdicts are expected on genocide? Unless I'm much mistaken these charges will never be ruled upon, as genocide was not committed. As far as I'm concerend the international bar to prove genocide is high.

Its hard to make anybody / their families who have experienced war crimes understand that just because it was awful or despicable and involved the murder of a number of people, it does not automatically mean genocide. But those of us not directly affected should not act as hysterical cheerleaders raising the hopes of victims with 'fighting' talk. It is irresponsible and a little sick.

War reperations etc is another question, but this is something else that can be dealt with by the parties in question, without paying massive salaries to legal men if possible.

The census results show the Serbs are the truly genocided and ethnically cleansed - Croatia has a more purely Croat population after the war then before. They lost some military/paramilitary and police who were attacking Serbs all over Croatia from the start.
The only reason why Serbs would be nervous is because of the corruption and bias in these courts which have been known to use perjury and lies against Serbs while ignoring thousands upon thousands of crimes against them.

"Despite the contradictory statements coming from Zagreb I'm pretty confident that a deal will be made.

There was no genocide in Croatia in the recent Jugoslav war, although there was almost everything else like war crimes and ethnic cleansing.

Its better to stop wasting time with these false charges and work for the benefit of the Serbian and Croatian people.

bganon, you must be the most logical person in Serbia. Sadly, there aren't enough Serbs who think like you.

The precedent has been set with the genocidal formation of RS, Bosnia, Croatia and soon Kosovo too will be in line for the true verdicts of the 90's.

You Serbs already know how strong your arguments are, so why so scared?

You dont want to sound like hypocrite by standing up for international laws, and at the same time trying to avoid them right?
