Only you can be the one to alert the public that when Obama goes on national television that is broadcast around the world, to tell Americans, his strategy for cutting the military budget and why, that the thing he does not want everyone to hear was that the US is cutting the military budget.
I am not sure whether you were in full holiday celebration and did not process properly, but when the US President announces to the world that they are cutting the military budget, it is no longer a SECRET.

Just an observation here. ICJ tries very hard to give every statement made an answer as he/she sees accurate, which makes ICJ look ridiculous. Every answer is based only on emotion and wishful thinking. There is no factual basis at all but his poor fool thinks that he/she looks clever.

It is exhausting trying to get through the entire post. The post is long and ridiculous. I wonder why B92 even bothers to publish it. These posts don't even serve as entertainment.

Sounds like the typical bully on the school yard. Always wants a "fair" fight with the kid weighing 75# less, but runs from the guys his own size! NATO fought Serbia with one arm tied behind its back. Talk about pathetic!!
(an American, 7 January 2012 09:20)
=========================

Maybe if Albanians recognized their limitation and stopped threatening Serbs at every opportunity we would not make these statement.
Serbia is not a bully. Actually it's you guys who are because you are constantly attacking Serbs, churches and cemeteries with having NATO protect you while you are doing it. This sounds like bully activity to me. You bring your big brother to back you up while you mouth off at a guy bigger than you but smaller than your big brother.

All we want is for you to back yourselves up without your big brother or just shut he hell up. Only cowards like yourselves behave the way you do. Really pathetic.

The US will need more than readings from the bible or what you have or have not to turn it around. The reason why the US was in Australia during WW2 was because it had withdrawn from the Philippines and all the other lands were in hostile hands. As far as Australians are concerned, I know their temperament very well considering I was born and raised there and my mother is an Australian.
South Korea; well why do you think China wants to keep North Korea going? Keeps the US troops busy. Japan, the Japanese will not allow the US to take any type of military action from their territory against China so that is a moot point. Marshall Islands are exactly just that, islands in the middle of nowhere. The US has not moved to Darwin because it likes the climate but it was tossed out of the South China Sea – this US nonsense about concentrating in the Asia region is utter crap because the US was in a far better position 20 years ago than they are today as they had Subic Bay and Clarke Air force base in the Philippines. The US can have as many allies as it likes but watch and see what happens to Australia if the Chinese get unpleasant – they can ruin that economy by just stopping all purchases of coal and minerals, ask your new found Australian friends what they think will happen if China decides to halt all purchase of Australian minerals. Allies are like fair weather friends; they are around while the going is good but they soon disappear when it goes bad. If it comes to that Australia will turn against the US.
Like it or not the US cannot contain China – its too late. They should have done this in the late 1980s or early 1990s.
On the US side, if America gets a tad too smart watch the Chinese pull out their 800 billon dollars in bonds and see how long the US economy lasts. The Chinese can spend 2 trillion in reserves to arm themselves and they will still have plenty in the bank. The US is not capable of fighting one war on their own, it needs allies and even then they get thrashed like in Afghanistan.
The US economy could not take the continued strain of a war in Iraq and Afghanistan coupled with a huge debt – that is all. It’s not a prudent decision; it’s simply necessity, they either do this or BANG and there goes your economy right now.

All of this is simply an excuse to borrow more money so the feeding frenzy continues and people like you end up paying the bill.
As I said before, if you draw a bar chart graph of annual US expenditure the two towering areas of expense are social security and defence - they dwarf the rest The US federal government has 15.1 trillion debt (state debt is on top of this figure) and this will increase to 16.4 by August, you cannot keep going on like this without some affect on the country as a whole. You either start reducing defence or social security or both. In the case of the latter, this gives you more room to move on defence front but not for long.

“Sure, if that makes you happy we can call it like that. Rest assured though that it will not change US’s policy of leaving Iraq. US went there to remove Sadam and it did. Now, if the Iraqis want to kill each-other, that is their business not the business of US taxpayers. I know that you wish that the US continue to spend money for Iraq’s policing, but the Americans are smarter than that, dear. They only care for themselves, not for the Iraqis. “

The US went into Iraq for the oil and Saddam was an excuse – the US had plans going back to Bill Clinton’s time to invade Iraq as Saudi Arabia is getting too uncomfortable as it is a hotbed of anti US feelings and they needed a second sure supply of oil.
The Iraqs are in a civil war and the Shites are more than happy to break the country apart with the south (which has most of the oil) going it way towards Iran. While in the north the Kurds get a Kurdistan and how happy will this make the Turks LOL. Now what is the US going to do about this? Nothing as it has already been there and had their backsides whipped, in fact the only reason US deaths dropped in the last two years of occupation was because US troops rarely left their compounds.

(icj1, 7 January 2012 17:46)

“If that’s true, that’s a big problem, dear, for Russia and China because Iran said that it is very easy for them to block the oil from Iraq to China and Russia.”

Oh Iran was talking about the US and their allies not about Russia or China. In fact if you take a closer look China has a lot invested in Iran.

“You are absolutely right, dear. The US has no interest in becoming the police force of Iraq, however much you may like it. “

It never went in to Iraq to be a “policeman”. Can I please have some original thought here and stop quoting the media!!!!! The Us has been trying to sell itself as a “policeman” of the world.

“Assuming you are correct, I think all US taxpayers will be very happy about it.”

Sadly that is not true as the feeding frenzy has not finished yet and there will be more spending on better technology. The move to Darwin is simply a downsizing and nothing more. In fact with the EU now heading into a deeper recession the US will feel it even more keenly than before and the levels of real unemployment will spike again and the Us will have to borrow more to meet the shortfall in revenue so more savage cuts have to take place in either social security or defence. 2012 does not look good for the US.

“The US went to Afghanistan to get Bin Laden and he is now reposing at the bottom of the ocean. The US went to Iraq to remove Sadam, and we all know where Sadam is now. If that is the definition of “failure” I’d love to fail every day. “

First get a good world atlas and look to see where Afghanistan is in relation to the Caspian Sea. Now the reason the US went there was to take over and control it to build a pipeline from the Caspian Sea to carry gas and oil to Afghanistan to Pakistan and then load it onto ships from there. It was a race to beat the Russians in the energy war.
In late the 1980s George Bush Jr entertained the Taliban leadership on his ranch in Texas to try and get them to agree on the pipeline proposal.
Osama Bin Laden was a sick old man who was no longer useful to the Al quida movement. What was the point of killing him? To show they had finally reached their goal – if you believe this then you are a sad person. They had achieved nothing so this is to say “we have done our job and its time to leave”.
Long before the second invasion of Iraq Israel told the US that Saddam Hussein was not a problem and that he was actually doing some good in that he has kept the Islamist out of power there and the real danger was Iran. Guess what happened?
Please stop believing all that crap they tell you in the media. It’s like “the US has some troubles today but in 10 years time it will be back on top”. I have had this one quoted to me even by relatives who live in the US.

“As for negotiation with the Taliban, I’m not sure what’s wrong with that – they are not all criminals. When US uses force, it is criticized because it does not give a chance to negotiations. When it negotiates it is criticized because it is not using force. I think, some people, have to make up their minds”

Go to the archives and see the earlier media reports when the US invaded Afghasnitan and how they described the Taliban. Its always good to do that because it then gives you a way of seeing how many times the US has back flipped. You do recall that Mullah Omar, well the old Mullah was part of the Taliban. The Taliban have not once waivered on their beliefs, not once – they want Sharia law and that is that. These people in 2012 kill girls and women who go to school. Yes in 2012 this happens.
The last man to conquer Afghanistan was Alexander the Great in 200BC.

“Of course, hopefully that happens in our lifetime so that we can have the great pleasure of seeing it “
Debt is what destroys empires just ask the Brits. They went through it. Right up to WW2 there was a British Empire but after it the UK was broke and the rest is history. You will see it in your lifetime; in fact the US decline has already started but governments are very good at slowing it up. You tend to lose this then that and it continues, but in the meantime TV tells you that you are living in paradise.

The US waged a war in Iraq for 10 years giving all types of lame excuses and after spending 1 trillion they have left with their tail between their legs defeated.

Sure, if that makes you happy we can call it like that. Rest assured though that it will not change US’s policy of leaving Iraq. US went there to remove Sadam and it did. If that’s true, that’s a big problem, dear, for Russia and China because Iran said that it is very easy for them to block the oil from Iraq to China and Russia.
----------

The Iraqis can now do what they like knowing that the US will never set foot there again even though they are in Kuwait because if they do the insurgency will go into top gear.
(sj, 7 January 2012 01:32)

You are absolutely right, dear. The US has no interest in becoming the police force of Iraq, however much you may like it.
----------

Let’s look at Asia Pacific region- the US now has to train its troops in Darwin Australia since it no longer has bases in the Philippines and the other countries are not friendly towards the US. The last time the US was in Australia was in WW2 – read up on the reasons. It will station 2500 marines in Drwin, now what can 2500 do to China? Nothing. The excuse is that the US wants to keep the Straights of Malaka open blah blah. In actual fact the Chinese have kicked the US out of the South China Sea. Its called an organized retreat whether you people living in the US like it or not.
(sj, 7 January 2012 01:32)

Assuming you are correct, I think all US taxpayers will be very happy about it.
----------

The best part of the spin is “we will reduce our armed forces but increase spending on technology – we can see how successful US military technology has been in Iraq and Afghanistan. In the meantime while increasing spending, back at the ranch the new fifth generation fighter looks like being curtailed drastically. By September 2012 the US debt will be around 16.4 Trillion.
(sj, 7 January 2012 01:32)

Sure, and its assets will also be closer to that number and the US pays a lower interest rate on its liabilities than it earns on its assets. So, it gets a net profit of hundreds of billions per year. As usual, sj, your financial analysis is unparalleled. And, I’m sure the Yankees really appreciate your continuous concern about their well being.
----------

Look at the US success rate – Iraq; failure; Afghnaistan; failure and we now have the US negotiating with the Taliban to be part of the opposition – for those with a short memory, they were tje ones who gave support to the 9/11 group!!!!!! Hello!!!!

I am glad the world has you to reveal the truth to them and to forecast the downfall of the US and the west.
Empires do come and go and usually collapse at least so far. Whether the US will in this lifetime is yet to be seen. Many Christians believe that the end is soon anyway, so who knows. As the Bible says "at a time you know not".
What I do know is I have a good life, I have food on my table and a roof over my head, God has blessed me with healthy children and grandchildren. Whatever the future brings we will be ready.
The reason the US was in Australia during WWII was for Australia's benefit, we are huge allies with Australia and our deployment there will be beneficial for both sides. (By the way I am currently doing a temp contract with the Australian govt, a nicer group of people I have never met).
As far as the military budget goes it went from 350 billion to 700 billion during the wars in Iraq and Afg, with the end of one and the anticipated end to the other it is natural the budget will be cut, a huge part of the US forces are reserves, people with jobs back home to go to. Of course we are going to focus on Asia. The US has a lot of allies and alot of interest there and we have to be mindful of China's increase in military strength that is a no brainer. However, we already have heavy deployments of troops in South Korea, and Japan, the Marshall Islands etc. So no the deployment in Australia is not a huge factor in containing China.

… The US says it is going to focus on Asia and the Pacific and at the same time cut back on the military budget, not cut the budget but not increase it by the amount it has been increasing. By removing Iraq do you realize what percentage of the defense budget is now clear???”

This is called the pea and thimble trick; it’s double talk to give the impression that they are not having budget cuts when that is exactly what is happening. For example, the number of jobs created in the US was up by 200 000 for December thus taking the total now to 8.5% national unemployment, however, they do not to say that this is only temporary for the Christmas period which by the middle of January the vast majority will be unemployed again - spin.
The US waged a war in Iraq for 10 years giving all types of lame excuses and after spending 1 trillion they have left with their tail between their legs defeated. The juicy contracts have all gone to either Chinese or Russian firms with the west getting ZERO. The Iraqis can now do what they like knowing that the US will never set foot there again even though they are in Kuwait because if they do the insurgency will go into top gear. No matter how you look at it you cannot sustain expenditure levels experienced by the US in the last decade and remain the same – it’s simple the income is not there and their comes a point where you have no more assets as collateral or even to sell.
Nothing. Its called an organized retreat whether you people living in the US like it or not.

“The US spends less that 0.5% of its military budget on operations in Kosovo that is not going to change. the shift in focus also highlights the fact that the US does not really see Russia as a military threat. “

The reason why the US spends so much money is because a lot of it is garbage to say the least (first gulf war we saw cameras on bombs dropped from aircraft and it was sold as superior laser guided etc… an audit took place 12 months after that war and it was found that they were only conventional bombs with cameras strapped on them sold for 4 times the actual cost).

“ the US current military budget is higher than the next 10 countries COMBINED, should we drop to the level of the next 9 countries combined we still are NO.1 by a far margin.
Albanians in Kosovo have nothing to fear, the Serbian threat only exists in nationalist pubs and dreams.”

I honestly don't understand why does KFOR need all those northern Kosovo troubles? Why didn't they stop Thaci in time, instead of supporting him? The only answer is that their officials are paid bribes by Albanians to initiate troubles.

USA will deliver 400-500 starfighters and 4-5 star cruisers to Albanians and they can finally re-claim the Planet Naboo and settle there. After all, Planet Naboo was, is and will be Albanian.

money: we'll get them used. 50% will be carried by uncle sam and the rest we shall pay them in 20 years :)

Secondly, Agim Ceku is a marked man, wanted on international arrest warrants for war crimes. I highly doubt that the US Defense Dept. would deal with a thug like him. This is fair and we are convinced that as honorable nation as you are you share the same opinion of playing under same or similar rules and equipment.

Fact: the #1 objective of American military is to help Albanians as much as possible and even beyond that.

USA will deliver 400-500 starfighters and 4-5 star cruisers to Albanians and they can finally re-claim the Planet Naboo and settle there. After all, Planet Naboo was, is and will be Albanian.

Wish Albanians and Ben in particular the best success in

You people are really too much. The US says it is going to focus on Asia and the Pacific and at the same time cut back on the military budget, not cut the budget but not increase it by the amount it has been increasing. By removing Iraq do you realize what percentage of the defense budget is now clear???
Does the US need troops stationed in Germany?? He did not say we are turning our backs on Europe but as the EU spreads there is not a military threat in Europe proper now, should things change the US strategy would also.
The US spends less that 0.5% of its military budget on operations in Kosovo that is not going to change. the shift in focus also highlights the fact that the US does not really see Russia as a military threat.
Read your article, the US current military budget is higher than the next 10 countries COMBINED, should we drop to the level of the next 9 countries combined we still are NO.1 by a far margin.
Albanians in Kosovo have nothing to fear, the Serbian threat only exists in nationalist pubs and dreams.

Be, first of all, Pristina doesn't have the money for a merry-go-round, so let's cut the crap about major military hardware. With the EU and US in tough economic ways, I don't think they will give you as Christmas presents all those military toys. Secondly, Agim Ceku is a marked man, wanted on international arrest warrants for war crimes. I highly doubt that the US Defense Dept. would deal with a thug like him. I'm afraid Albanians will have to stick to what they do best, crime. - and they better pray that KFOR does not desert them.

“The US spends less that 0.5% of its military budget on operations in Kosovo that is not going to change. the shift in focus also highlights the fact that the US does not really see Russia as a military threat. “

Look at the US success rate – Iraq; failure; Afghnaistan; failure and we now have the US negotiating with the Taliban to be part of the opposition – for those with a short memory, they were tje ones who gave support to the 9/11 group!!!!!! Hello!!!!

(pss, 7 January 2012 15:00)

Someone let the cat out of the bag before you!

How do you feel about that Albanian armchair warriors? Are you getting a little nervous? What goes around, comes around. It's God's way. Merry Christmas all.

I honestly don't understand why does KFOR need all those northern Kosovo troubles? Why didn't they stop Thaci in time, instead of supporting him? The only answer is that their officials are paid bribes by Albanians to initiate troubles.

I wonder if KSerbs try to distribute leaflets among KFOR soldiers, asking what they are doing in Serbian land?

Be, first of all, Pristina doesn't have the money for a merry-go-round, so let's cut the crap about major military hardware. With the EU and US in tough economic ways, I don't think they will give you as Christmas presents all those military toys. Secondly, Agim Ceku is a marked man, wanted on international arrest warrants for war crimes. I highly doubt that the US Defense Dept. would deal with a thug like him. I'm afraid Albanians will have to stick to what they do best, crime. - and they better pray that KFOR does not desert them.

i thought you are real gentlemen and want to play as equal that is the main thing :) instead you still behave as cowards you still want to be the only one with the toys and others nothing on their hands.

i'm disappointed... who cares if it's true or not that we'll get 200 or 100 (something we defo will get) the importance is that you hopefully and finally find immoral the huge fire power imbalance of 1999 and you don't find that honorable anymore and you understand that that film will not be played anymore...

money: we'll get them used. 50% will be carried by uncle sam and the rest we shall pay them in 20 years :)

oh and i forgot these toys are way cheaper and apparently they are already in loco whatch what effect has on your toys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbcZCD05fO0 :)

The US waged a war in Iraq for 10 years giving all types of lame excuses and after spending 1 trillion they have left with their tail between their legs defeated.
(sj, 7 January 2012 01:32)

Sure, if that makes you happy we can call it like that. Rest assured though that it will not change US’s policy of leaving Iraq. US went there to remove Sadam and it did. Now, if the Iraqis want to kill each-other, that is their business not the business of US taxpayers. I know that you wish that the US continue to spend money for Iraq’s policing, but the Americans are smarter than that, dear. They only care for themselves, not for the Iraqis.
----------

The juicy contracts have all gone to either Chinese or Russian firms with the west getting ZERO.
(sj, 7 January 2012 01:32)

Hello!!!!
(sj, 7 January 2012 01:32)

The US went to Afghanistan to get Bin Laden and he is now reposing at the bottom of the ocean. The US went to Iraq to remove Sadam, and we all know where Sadam is now. If that is the definition of “failure” I’d love to fail every day.

As for negotiation with the Taliban, I’m not sure what’s wrong with that – they are not all criminals. When US uses force, it is criticized because it does not give a chance to negotiations. When it negotiates it is criticized because it is not using force. I think, some people, have to make up their minds :)

Sooner rather than later the US will implode. Like all empires, such as the British Empire, the thing than destroys them is DEBT and not war.

Nothing. In the meantime while increasing spending, back at the ranch the new fifth generation fighter looks like being curtailed drastically. By September 2012 the US debt will be around 16.4 Trillion.

(pss, 7 January 2012 15:00)
