For someone so convinced that the US is gone and no longer a force to deal with, you seem to focus an unusual amount of time listening and reading and dissecting everything coming out of it. In other words whether the US has influence on anything else in the world, it seems to dominate your life.
(Don Quixote, 6 January 2012 07:15)

No the US does not dominate my life but I am dealing with an exceptionally stupid group from the Albanian side that thinks this situation is going to continue forever and a day. With dumb people the only way to get a message across is to repeat it over and over again – in other words to counteract the brainwashing that the average American goes through like “The US is going through a rough time but in ten years we will be back on top”. How many times have you heard that one?

If Serbia cannot support themselves, then what makes Serbs think that they will get any international support for anything? Truly pathetic. Keep fighting amongst yourselves Serbs. Its a great circus to watch!
(USA United States of Albania, 6 January 2012 16:22)

We are not Albanians who would have drawn knives and guns long before to settle any disputes. We are a smart people and only want to keep the status quo and keep the pot boiling and watch it blow up.

Bob,

Defending your sovereign borders and national interests is not 'rabid nationalism', it is prudent policy. If you want to know what 'rabid nationalism' is, perhaps look at the US. They send their soldiers around the world, into foreign lands, bomb them, maim them, torture them, build bases on their lands, replace their leaders with obedient puppets....for fictitious WMD's, fictitious nuclear threats, fictitious 'genocides'. Serbia is a hippy peacenik compared to the good ol' US of A and their NATO war criminals.

So fierce resolve to preserve your land, culture, religion and language is seen as nationalism but what the Yanks do every day is not?
Yanks are the biggest nationalists in the world. Observe the way they behave, talk and the arrogance of them being the best. Every second house displays the flag.

Loving oneself is nationalism for some but not for others.
Tadic is a traitor because he allowed EULEX to go in knowing very well what they would do.
I saw it from the very beginning and spoke against it and Tadic didn't know it? Give me a break.

"We responsible Europeans are tired of lending money to nations such as Greece."

Now that is a truly irritating comment. Greece has no choice in the matter of the loans you claim to be tired of giving them. They don't even have a democracy any longer. Merkozy appointed Papademos after they collectively loaded their pants over the notion of a Greek referendum. And Tadik is working his "magic" at a time when the Euro is fast approaching the end. As an outsider I watch in wonder as Serb Politicians seem to be rushing into the jaws of this madness. I feel for Serbia, the treatment by the Kfor (Ok, let's be honest, GERMANY) is awful, but you seem to want nothing more than to be under the German yoke. What is one supposed to think?

Oopsy

Oopsy, I misread your comment. My mistake.

What's thisOOOpsy, ooopsy is on you. We have plenty of humvees here and then some. Those humvees can stay where they are. We need to protect our interests and allies world wide.

And, believe me, we didn't built that massive air base to later abandon it. But, you're free to believe what you want.
(metrod, 5 January 2012 18:50)

Ahh no prob we all misread sometimes, no need to mention it.

I do believe though if one remembers the story about the three little pigs, the house of bricks was to last. Bondsteel aint there forever and why?

1)Bondsteel is made of wood envisioned to be temporary.
2)Nabucco looks like it's dying, Turkey approving Russia's competition and Iraq the perceived major supplier going backwards domestically.
3)Massive US military budget cuts.
4)Apart from certain members in the top echelon of US leadership the Kosovo idea has no real support.
5)Serbia slowly is seen no longer as a threat to regular Albanians living in Kosovo but a competent partner to reassert it's sovreign authority with the ability to clear all the criminal elements.

Just my opinion and some pieces falling into place.

If Serbs didn't care about Kosovo, Tadic would have recognized Kosovo independence.

Were Slovenian/Croatian referendums legal?
(aaayyy, 5 January 2012 23:03)

look another naive and gullible person. 90 percent of Kosovo is gone and basically MR TADIC has recognized it.. Just because he has not said the word "recognized" it has already been done.

Explain to me this..

Has he been benefiting or helping Serbs in the Nothern Kosovo? NO
How about Serbs that live in Pec and surrounding areas? NO

and lastly, when Serbs from Kosovo are offered a chance to go to surrounding suburbs of Belgrade, individuals in the town get mad because they given jobs.. Doesn't sound too kind does it. Its survival of the fittest and its 2012, your stuck in the past. This isn't the 1990's anymore and s*** works a lot different. Half of the crap that people talk on here is bs and they are living in a world that does and will never exist. At one time Serbia had alliances and that's how they were able to gather control of land and gain power. Serbia has no allies unless you consider Russia to be one and we know that one does not exist.

People do not want war and unless there is a new form of government, people have to adapt to which conditions will make their life suitable. While the rest of the world is getting on Top, Serbia is not getting any where. A primary reason why man blogger's on here do not live in Serbia..

What mushrooms have you been sniffing lately? A small group of people has stopped the so called independent Kosovoa dead in its tracts and no one can do a thing about it. Just keep sucking those mushrooms and it will make you feel better LOL, LOL. Say Hi to the white rabbit.
Watch the US defence budget cuts and they are only the beginning. I’m listening to Obama at this moment and this is what he is proposing; first they are abandoning the east and Europe while trying to contain China. But the best part is they will save 250 billion over 10 years but borrow 14 trillion over the same time.
And all of this on the back of US living of standards. Enjoy those mushrooms.
Chao!

Little wonder the west treats you Albanians as stupid to say the least. Your people are living below third world standards in Kosovo and calling it paradise.

Serbs need a viable solution as a whole in Kosovo. Pristina cannot control the North as for Strpce and Gracanica, they should have autonomy from Pristina on its own finances and functioning. Those 2 cities should be the Serbian centers in occupied Kosovo where all Serbs who are scattered in villages throughout the province should move too.

Serbs and their organs will be a lot safer in congested areas than scattered as Albanians make sure its at least 20 to 1 when they come and try to harm people.
(Ari)

And those areas could become something like Andorra or Vatican - independent mini-states.

Bob

It is stupid to think that any serious Serbian president could or would support the referendum - to do so would have unacceptably large and serious consequences for the economy and for the credibility of Serbian diplomacy.

However, that does not in any way undermine he value of the referendum or the capacity of any Serbian president to utilise the political credibility for the Kosovo cause that would derive from the resulting expression of local political will.

The embittered postings against Tadic on this site do not convince me. Tadic is no traitor - he represents a serious attempt to move Serbia away from the recent terrible past. The real traitors to Serbia are the rabid nationalists who would drag Serbia back to the failed policies of recent history and so reconfirm the world's worst view of Serbia.

It takes a more intelligent approach than is within the capability of rabid nationalists. Their policies are doomed to instant failure as they earn the disregard of the powerful international attitudes that are poised to stamp hard on those ideas. There is no future in the direction of strong nationalism, however deep the emotions.

about time an article like this came out.. So to all the patriotic Serbs, how does it feel that your own government doesn't give 2 cents about your own people.

I read a lot how on these forums, the Montenegro Prime Minister Sold out the serbs in Montenegro but Boris Tadic gets a pass? Serbia is just mad that their economy is shit and if it wasn't then they would take more of an aggressive stance in getting back kosovo and supporting the people. Most of the people don't even live in Serbia that write on this blog and fail to realize that people living in Serbia especially Belgrade, are busy focusing on benefiting them selves.. The last thing on their mind is Kosovo..

Nice double standard, Serbia has already given up Kosovo.. they are cooperating with the Albanians on what is suitable for Serbs.. If a piece of land is yours, you lay down the terms you do not negotiate so clearly Serbia has no power or no say when it comes to Kosovo..

It's Over..

The referendum will not achieve anything as everyone knows Serbia does not currently and for the time being cannot realistically (and not because of Albs themselves) control most of Kosovo. Same as KLA cowards in Pristina hiding behind KFOR and EULEX still cannot control Northern Kosovo in any way.

As for expecting support from Belgrade over this issue, not a chance. This government has lost legitimacy in more ways than one a very long time ago. Until this entire Serbian elite of tycoons and over payed corrupted government officials is in place, expect no support whatsoever.

I think that's what makes the Serbs in Kosovo more heroic and noble. Betrayed by the country that is obligated to protect them, this Serbian community fought for their homeland with no one else to help them.

I find myself tripping out because for the first time ever I am agreeing with what the DS say over the Serbs in Kosovo.

Serbs need a viable solution as a whole in Kosovo. Pristina cannot control the North as for Strpce and Gracanica, they should have autonomy from Pristina on its own finances and functioning.

There is nothing to be surprised about not getting support from Belgrade on the referendum because Tadic and his troop of apes were in the process of selling you out so that they join the EU.
Funny, 20 years ago I’d get so tired of hearing about Tito and his heroic deeds and songs being sung in his honor and today little has changed in Serbia except the songs are about the glories of the EU.
The problem is that the Serbs in North Kosovo have thrown a huge spanner into the entire machine. Now we also have Tadic trying to look presidential before the March elections visiting Kosovo during Christmas.
To the Serbs in Kosovo, stay your course and you will get what you want as it is only a matter of time and NO ONE dares touch you and I mean NO ONE.
