Tomislav Nikolić says that there is "only one point of disagreement" between his party and the DSS - and that is "when to call off negotiations with the EU".

It is time that Serbia elect a strong leader, a strong parliament. enough with these so called Democrats and this weak leader who are afraid to the WEST. Serbia should elect Nationalists.

Seselj, the raving lunatic who is currently in the Hague, err no. Nikolic who has shown himself to be nothing more than a populist and political prostitute, who has done more u turns than the back road to Carrick-on-Suir. How about Voja, the dapper Lt. Colombo lookalike who has the charisma of roadkill not to mention his party hovering on the 5-7% ratings or Cedo who would sell his mother/kids/soul/insert as appropriate here for EU-NATO slavery.

I think you will see why the current government will be relected.

Sure, that's great - however I don't get how those strong nationalist heroes will fill people's stomachs with their heroism. Of course they will do a much better job in feeding people's minds with heroic chants, but at the end it is the stomach that counts and, certainly, 300 tons of aid from Russia will not help much about that.

How is Tadic doing filling those stomachs?

Why are you so scared of Tadic loosing?

The preservation of Kosovo as part of Serbia should be a national cause - but not a nationalist cause.

Nationalism has lead to conflict and hate - that is not acceptable.

However, ownership of Kosovo still resides with Serbia and that this the basis that Serbia must (and I think will) stand by.

I was amazed by the rudeness of Merkel this summer - it was humiliating for Tadic after all the good efforts he has made towards EU integration. I agree that Serbia must make Kosovo non-negotiable as regards the EU.

What will be the Serbian government response to the forth-coming referendum? I suggest that after it Serbia should become proactive and take strong steps to alter the political landscape. For once Serbia can lead in response to a democratic decision rather than being whipped into line by the US or Merkel. There will be a political storm - but it must be ridden-out.

The return of North Kosovo to Serbian rule is something that is being initiated by the locals. Although Serbia cannot and should not actively support it, once the referendum has been held Serbia should then move towards reintegration of the area to Serbian government control. Whether or not it goes along with US or Merkel policy is not important.

What is important is that the nationalist cause be given no credit for the re-integration. Neither will this be accepted as setting any other precedents. This must be done only on the basis of response to the democratic process in NKosovo - given that a very unnatural border has been imposed between people and their government.

After that, the processes of Serbia joining the EU can be reviewed again, but with Serbia having regained a little of the respect that has been missing for so long.

People just go hungry, like in "Kosova", where buying useless recognitions is more important than feeding people or providing jobs. The economy was doing well during Kostinuca's time. It started going downhill when Tadic took the reins.

Enough of the prostitution and it's time to call spade a spade. And Toma can do it better than anybody else. Serbia needs consensus which can never be achieved under a fake basis. Telling both EU and Kosovo manthras all the time can persuade no one. Neither in Brussels nor in Pristina or Washington and Moscow. Everybody knows that Tadic and Thaci are ruled from the same cabinets. So Serbia's rivals have little motivations to search for a compromise. Therefore Serbia needs Nicolic or someone of the kind. Otherwise it will remain semi pregnant with semi allies but full range rivals.

Avni, ALL POLITICIANS are only after votes - including the ones in Pristina that fix elections to make sure they stay in power. Try backing off a bit on making ALL Serb things bad, you may then have a bit more credibility - and not just be another Agim or Ben.

OK, he hits the right buttons and he seems like success will be to forge stronger ties with Russia, China and India, not a bad thing the way things are going. Turkey is looking towards the East now too, Greece an exit from Eurozone, the economic recipe can look favourable if he can get in and get it right.

The big problem in Serbian politics is that one party cannot form a government, therefore there becomes too many hands on the wheel and the ship tends to go round in circles at times. Then each gets a partial thankyou,

You say nice things Nikolic, however you have made some questionable moves since leaving the Radicals. I was never a big Radical Party enthusiast so him leaving the SRS never upset me as much as some of the things he has said after that.

Since the Democrats have done such a terrible job at governing the hate towards them is so big that even you will have a chance. Lets see what you are made up if you are a liar just like they are or a noble genuine person.

After the elections Serbia and Serbs all over will be watching, don't slip and give Serbia what it deserves.
