RESPECTED ELDER;
I wish you all the luck but dont just stay there and preach how fortunate you are. Try out some charity deed and do a big favour to help many Serbians in need for a job. In Serbia finding work is not easy. Those who work (especially in villages) are very lucky to thrive on the small income. The pay day can also be insecure about when and if the relative wage/salary is paid. Yes thats the reality so pls stop boasting about your luck. I am no Srbian but I have alot of whom I befriended, those who were a little more lucky to find jobs overseas. Left their country and their beloved families to earn money for them. BUT They are still not as much lucky like you cos they have to spend many hours working to earn a decent pay and anyway my country is nothing compared to Australia, BUT we're doing our best.Just Think of the less fortunate pls....

Lenard, tourists/visitors do comment on how cheap the food is in Serbia (while the proportions are usually quite large) and at the same time remark how prices in Croatia for food and other things are high.

I earn a little extra by working cash in hand and nobody can do a thing about it..now thats what I call true democracy.

serbia makes less but everything costs less do you realise this are no.
croatia you make more but everything costs allot more. Tom are you saying everything is 30% or more cheaper in Serbia. If I drove across the border from Croatia into Serbia filled on gas ,bought a airline ticket ,coffee ,cars etc very hard to believe and very unlikely. Just keep telling the masses how very lucky they are that is what the dictators said in communist times in the eastern Europe.

And nowadays, in Slovenia, the average salary is above €1,000 - about 100% higher than the average in ex-YU. Looks like being an EU member country is not that bad ;)
(Comm. Parrisson, 26 December 2011 12:05)

To obtain the average salary you have to obtain the sum of all salaries in a country then divide that total by the number of people earning those salaries. In that total you have salaries of millionaires as well as street cleaners and I might add that this method gives an inflated figure of anything up to 35% per cent, but governments employ it because it looks good on paper.
To get a real picture you have to remove millionaires/high earners from the calculation and only include people who are employed in industry (whatever that is) or receive social security pensions. If you follow this method you would be lucky if the average Slovene earns 350/400 Euros a month.
Also, up to recently Slovenia was the recipient of large EU money into their annual budget so successive administrations created many high paying jobs. Ask yourself the question; what does Slovenia produce that makes it such a place for high earnings? Last time I looked what little industry was established in Slovenia has or is in the process of moving out because it cannot survive in that environment as the Slovene government cannot subsidies them as in the past.
Psst, all that business about high earnings its mostly smoke and mirrors.

bosnia the same and macedonia and so on, so the reality is the wages are more at some places and less in other but works out to the same because of cost of living so i dont understand this news post it makes noe sence i live in canada and every city has it sown wages and prices like toronto you make more but everything is so epensive and then you live in saskatoon or winnipeg you make less but everything costs less a house in ontario just say it would cost you $700,000 and that same house in saskatoon or winnipeg would cost $ 300,000 se what i mean.

"I agree, Serbia wasted a lot of money there. But it's peanuts compared to the billions of western donor moneys wasted for the failed project creating a democratic Kosovo."

Based on what? Your claim? Here the real fact check:

EU spent so far around 10 bn for 2 Mio people in Kosovo (Serbs included) in the last 12 years. That stands against 6,2 bn Serbia spent only for 100 000 Serbs.

EU on the other hand has an annual GDP of 10 trillion (10 000bn) Euros per year, Serbia has only 60bn Euro. In fact, thanks to that disproportional amount of money which Serbia allocates to Kosovo, Serbs in Kosovo theoretically have almost twice as much as money as Serbs in Serbia.

You can do now the Math for whom those billions are really peanuts. Certainly not for Serbia. In fact, the EU spends in agricultural subsidies in only 60 days (!) more than it did in Kosovo over the period of 12 years.

I agree, Serbia wasted a lot of money there. But it's peanuts compared to the billions of western donor moneys wasted for the failed project creating a democratic Kosovo. A big part of it going straight to the pockets of the criminal mafia clans and their supporters in the government.

Btw., I read the average per capita income in Kosovo is estimated as about €100 (officially, not including the illegal money from criminal activities of the clans). Not a surprise with all the corruption and the almost non-existing economy down there. I wonder if the numbers from Kosovo are included in this survey separately, or if it's only lowering the average of Serbia?

Do not forget to include the cost of living,

The cheapest suburbs in Sydney, has an avg rent of $180pw.
Average houshold Electricity $1900.00 per year or $36.50 per week.
Water $900 per year or $17.30 per week.
Avg home and internet (cheapest) per year $720 assuming you post on these forums from home. Per week $15.00.

Lets add the basics,

Well lets hope Opera is free, not on pay-Tv or needing a car or public transport costs to search for work as is required.
