Barricades should be removed “as soon as possible”

The Res. 1244 allows Kosovo even without ICJ judgment (that went in Kosovo favour) to get independence. The culprits for Res 1244 signing (and agreement) are Russia and Serbia.

Now, Russia COULD prevent Kosovo to be a full member of the UN but can do nothing else. Russia CAN NOT prevent Kosovo to join UN as an observer just like the Vatican for example. Kosovo NEEDS only another 12-15 recognitions to be JOIN the UN as an Observer state/country. RECALL that former Yugoslavia was not a UN member in 1999 and only recently joined the UN as Serbia and Montenegro and later each independently. Does that mean that since 1991, Serbia and Montenegro union (or Yugoslavia) was not a state? If you think so then NATO in 1999 has conducted an intervention NOT in a "sovereign state", but in an undefined territory known as Yugoslavia. So according to this logic there was no aggression to an UN recognised state, but an intervention for humanitarian cause in an undefined (non UN member state) territory known as Yugoslavia.

WHY the RES. 1244 favours Kosovo Albanians?
The Res. 1244 appears clearly to show that at the end of this process THE WILL of the people of Kosovo will be considered the key consideration for the final status solution. Recall (Section 11 (e)) of resolution 1244, says

"Facilitating a political process designed to determine Kosovo's future status, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE RAMBOUILLET ACCORDS (S/1999/648);"

Then Chap. 8, Art. 1(3). of Rambouillet accord (which Res 1244, Section 11 (e) is refered to) says

"Three years after the entry into force of this Agreement, an international meeting shall be convened to determine a mechanism for a final settlement for Kosovo, ON THE BASIS OF THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE, opinions of relevant authorities, each Party's efforts regarding the implementation of this Agreement, and the Helsinki Final Act, and to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the implementation of this Agreement and to consider proposals by any Party for additional measures."


THESE ARE FACTS and anyone can prove this. No wonder ICJ gave the judgment they gave.

If one thinks that Milosevic did good by signing 1244 or Russia helped then, BETTER THINK AGAIN.

The Russia of 1999 was a nation on its knees where it could not feed it own troops in Russia let alone sustain military presence in Kosovo. Its military officers had to work a second job to keep bread on the table for their families, poverty was rife throughout Russia and the US would not allow IMF loans if Russia did not agree to bomb Serbia.
Today we are only seven days away from 2012. What has changed you ask? Plenty. Firstly, Russia no longer owes any financial institution money – it has about 500 billion in foreign currency in reserves plus just as much in gold reserves in Swiss banks and more in Russia itself. Only 8 days ago the Russians loaned the EU 250 billion and the Chinese 300 billion. On the other hand the US/EU of 1999 are the complete the reverse today – the US is now 15.1 trillion in debt while the EU is falling apart before our very eyes. Now pour yourself a whiskey drink it slowly and read this paragraph carefully and let these facts sink in.

Actually, it is more – US’ external debt is about 22+ trillion… but it also has about 20+ trillion in foreign assets. Since the average interest rate that US pays on external liabilities is lower than the average interest rate the US receives on external assets, the US has a net financial income from the rest of the world even though its net financial position with the rest of the world is negative. For example, in 2011 Q3 the receipts from external assets exceeded payments on external liabilities by 58+ billion.

So, unfortunately, the Yankees are being smart; they are borrowing from the world at low rates and lending back to the world at higher rates, and getting a profit from the whole thing.

Mate, that Kosovo is independent from Serbia, that’s beyond dispute – even Serbia admits that. The only thing that is in dispute is whether Kosovo is independent from UN/EU/ELEX/KFOR/US/Devil; but I don’t think that is something to lose the sleep about. All Albanians cared about was to be independent from Serbia; as for Kosovo still being dependent from some other entity – let’s assume it is so and everybody is happy; we don’t have to argue as nobody cares about it.

As for the UN, Kosovo (or any other country) has not and will never be recognized by the UN, unless the UN charter changes because the current one does not give the power to the UN to recognize anything.

Actually, it is more – US’ external debt is about 22+ trillion… but it also has about 20+ trillion in foreign assets. Since the average interest rate that US pays on external liabilities is lower than the average interest rate the US receives on external assets, the US has a net financial income from the rest of the world even though its net financial position with the rest of the world is negative. For example, in 2011 Q3 the receipts from external assets exceeded payments on external liabilities by 58+ billion.

So, unfortunately, the Yankees are being smart; they are borrowing from the world at low rates and lending back to the world at higher rates, and getting a profit from the whole thing.

Mate, that Kosovo is independent from Serbia, that’s beyond dispute – even Serbia admits that. The only thing that is in dispute is whether Kosovo is independent from UN/EU/ELEX/KFOR/US/Devil; but I don’t think that is something to lose the sleep about. All Albanians cared about was to be independent from Serbia; as for Kosovo still being dependent from some other entity – let’s assume it is so and everybody is happy; we don’t have to argue as nobody cares about it.

As for the UN, Kosovo (or any other country) has not and will never be recognized by the UN, unless the UN charter changes because the current one does not give the power to the UN to recognize anything.

Let’s speak again in few hundred years; let’s hope that by then the citizens of the BRIC live much better than they do now and that they also manage to move the location of their countries closer to Serbia :)
