Marko I am not running for office, if I had decided to vote for DS I would say so.

As regular visitors to this site will know, I am very disatisfied with all the parties of the ruling coalition. In fact it is unhealthy for democracy for one party to be in government for so long.

I am very much one of the undecided 43%.

miri telling the truth about what? My position on Kosovo isn't the same as the LDP's, even if I accept there is a lack of realism on Kosovo in the Serbian political class.

What you have to understand is that for Serbs today who they vote for is not just about Kosovo (or the EU). I would not vote for a party just because of its policy on one or the other. I would vote for a party that would have the best chance of increasing economic growth, reducing corruption, increasing investment and jobs. Increasingly, I believe this is the position of Serbian voters.

Now its debateable whether the LDP are telling the truth on these subjects, or whether they are supporting something close to a neo-liberal agenda on economic matters, which I would not support.

The politicians still don't seem to understand the concerns of the people and are stuck in the old paradigm - they bleat Europe or they bleat Kosovo and expect us to file in behind them automatically depending on whether we are determined supporters of Kosovo within Serbia, or supporters (EU supporters are not determined usually) of the EU. On the basis of that we surrender our vote and following that manipulation, whoever we vote for proceeds to do the opposite of what they promised.

Analyst I am very careful in being realistic in what I ask for. I didn't ask for honesty from politicians, I asked for 'some' honesty or more honesty. You can't expect those cowards to be honest, but if they are led to understand that there are votes in treating the Serbian people as adults and being more honest, they will be more honest.

Lets not pretend that politics is about morality and that politicians are moral, its about numbers for them. Self interest dictates they try a more realistic / honest approach. However, if nobody tries and can point to increased honesty / realism as an electoral factor in political success then the same old politics will continue.

We are tired of listening to pipe dreams on the EU or Kosovo. We are fed up with politicians being too cynical and unimaginative to at least begin to tell us the truth, rather than feed us nonsense whilst telling themselves that they only feed us nonsense because we aren't ready to hear the truth.

So I say to politicians in a language that they can understand - try injecting some honesty into the debate, its worth a shot, if there are 43% of disillusioned voters they might cast their votes for you.

bganon, it sounds like LDP is the right choice for you. Don't you think that they are the only ones that are telling the truth?

If am wrong, than your politicians are right, you're not ready for the truth.

Expecting 'honesty' means expecting a lot in a country like Serbia where most politicians don't have a realistic goals, ideas, ideals and plans for improving the situation, but are in a permanent competition to be most populist and nationalist party instead.

Oh, lets not forget what Nigel Farage said -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNHuC_IE_X8

Is that the true motivation behind Tadic and Nikolic? They will all become multimillionaires at the expense of the country?

Personally, I'm not really surprised. Nikolic is attempting to be like the DS while Tadic is attempting be a little more like the DSS. They are all confused and without solid policies. I have to say though, that the DSS has been the only popular party I like that hasn't changed like the wind. Even though I like Kostunica, we need a new face to lead that party.

Here is a good illustration of what the two leading parties are doing to us and where they are leading us. Check -> http://www.balkanstudies.org/sites/default/files/EU%20TITANIC.jpg

This level if indecision amongst Serbias voters is very eye opening and indicative of a specious political system and the rigged media establishment which supports it. It is also bad news for the ruling class. But unfortuntly, the prominent opposition to the Tadic regime is most likely a Nikolic regime, and in the end thats just the flip side of the same coin. Serbia needs leaders who espouse Serbias interests, not a cadre of elites who trumpet only the ideas of thier own party members , thier elite class in Belgrade and thier western sponsours. Serbia needs patriots not American or German parrots. Serbia needs to go to the ballot boxes and vote in a Serbian government and once and for all shed the skin of long dead Yugoslavia. There are only two options remaining for Serbs-the ballot box or Bullits-I hope they choose the ballot box! After the political system has changed , the Serbian media, which has kept the collective head of the people in the sand, must also be changed. I think that the next year will be bring about radical change. Out with the old (yugoslavia) and in with what should always have been (the nation of Serbia-the homeland of the Serb people).

I thought all Serbs were itching to vote for SRS and the only thing holding them back was Seselj in the Hague.

To decide or not to decide, - SAME!!, same question, same answer, same result. SAME!!
I honestly don't know how some people in Serbia continue to listen to these spinsters. You know the Australian politician who does not achieve to meet the voter's concerns & agendas competently, - gets steped down & replaced emmediately, saving further embarrassment to their political party he/her represents. However', in Serbia' :-), same faces for the past 10 yrs keep appearing at election time. I get this feeling that these serbian politicians must cry on each others shoulders just because of employment. They can not "possibly" sell their Mercs & BMW, or down grade their homes to something smaller, - just for the sake of embarressment. I got one thing to say to you brother Serbs, - You "MUST" constantly put pressure on these MORONS, humiliate them as much as possible when they begin to talk crap'. Make them go MAD". Make them go away'.
All the best', brothers'.

Does this coincide with last nights B92 Tv programme encouraging people that Kosovo is lost or is it a genuine realisation that this http://www.njuz.net/tadic-kad-sam-rekao-bolji-zivot-tek-2014-mislio-sam-na-seriju/
was what he meant about a better life?

Would Serbia accept a strait up Serbian, foreign born President to lead the way compared to what you described?

Who can blame the Serbian people for recognising that no party has their best interests at heart? I am one of the 43%.

We are sick of the same old politics, of the party state, of politicians insulting our intelligence, sick of the lies.
