Serbia strikes deal on price for OTE stake

PM Mirko Cvetković says the purchase price and the way of buying a 20 percent stake of the Greek company OTE in Telekom Srbija had been agreed on.

wat?

They paid the exact same price-per-share that Austria Telekom offered.

There's some serious financial illiteracy going on in this country if a politician can so brazenly make such a ridiculous statement.

That said, it's probably an ok deal. They thought that the price from Austria Telekom was too low and they turned around and paid the same price (per share) to own the rest of the company.

Goes to show that the Austrians were right in their valuation.

Aren't the Greeks desperate, though? Couldn't they have gotten a better price based on the same facts that made them think the original valuation from the Austrians was too low?

That said, where's the money coming from? I thought the story was that Serbia was desperate to sell Telekom because they'd basically already spent the money. Now they found 380 million to buy-back the rest of the company.
