“Serbia should continue its EU path”

Serbian EU Integration Office Director Milica Delević said Friday that a decision to postpone Serbia's candidate status should not break Serbia's EU path.

Ugh, Milica seems so foolish with almost anything she says, that I can't believe that anyone takes her to be a serious person. She ought to just resign or something, but then again I suppose that the DS will get another foolish klutz to replace her.

"My only question is what will come first, the EU's demise, or the Tadic stranglehold on Serbia. Anyone taking bets?
(Ari Gold, 10 December 2011 13:00)"

Even the Yankees of all people are professing concern about the EU's possible demise -- not merely the eurozone but the EU itself. http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=134723

My bet will be that Tadic gets the boot first since the elections are scheduled for next year, right? .... and I think the eurozone will ultimately fail, to be followed eventually by a slow, lingering death for the EU itself. To insist on doing things on the basis of unanimty among 27 quite disparate countries is just plain idiotic to me.

What exactly is the EU - not even the EU can say precisely given the debacle over the euro non rescue yesterday.

This DS govt fudges over what precisely the EU offers in Serbia's interest and all new conditions are against Serbian interest, economically, politically, sovereignty, territorial integrity, socially. Why can Serbia not reform for the right reasons not to then lose all sense of independence and self respect by EU diktat? Time to dissasociate reforms that improve Serbia as a whole and the end result of EU accesion

It's clear the German and Austrian veto on Serbian candidacy was politically motivated - ironic that Merkozy plan for euro enforces majority voting but they veto as an when it suits - do we really need to join the EU when they clearly are disingenuous regarding Serbia's candidacy.

The cross road has arrived Tadic No more deceit that the EU process is not conditioned by going against all that is Serbia - the German delegation said that 6 months ago and you cannot lie about it now that Merkal has blocked candidacy let alone the next set of conditions for the accession process.

Broken record, Milice. Your government based their entire mandate off EU membership. And now, not only did we not get to where you promised we would be, but the EU itself is looking like a mess and a wrong place for any democracy to be in.

My only question is what will come first, the EU's demise, or the Tadic stranglehold on Serbia. Anyone taking bets?
