Holland to apologize for 1947 massacre

Great show of leadership (NOT), it ONLY took them 64 YEARS and if the number of massacred was 150 that would amount to 1200 Euros a head. Its really ironic how these western countries built their wealth and power on the backs of the innocent people throughout the world.

and Holland judges and tell Serbia for example what it needs to do or say. this nation should stick to what it knows best, smokin grass in cafes and drinking coffee. hey, it only took them 65 years for murdering beyond it'shores as an imperialist racist nation. it falls short..when is Holland going to apologize for South African and it's Afrikanas?

Some of those countries include: USA, Holland, France, Great Britain, Portugese = all countries that have acted with superiority over Serbia and looked down upon us.

Usually I wouldn't list france but this hungarian Sarkozy is racist and kills gypsies on the weekends. Perhaps why him and Merkel get on so well.

As I recall, Tadic has apologized over warcrimes committed by Serbs in the Balkan wars. So, Serbia was at least 64 years ahead of Holland. I am Dutch and I know how long this issue took, shamefully.

When troops from the Netherlands (under orders) massacre hundreds of people the compensation given stands at 500-1200 Euros per head

When a Libyan agent (probably acting in his own capacity, and not state sanctioned) blows up a plane the compensation given is 10 Million US per head.

The Average Libyan (pre civil war) earns a quater of what the average Dutch man earns

Ian, The problem is that those countries profited bigtime and NEVER paid back the one's who suffered. Look at the your country for example U.K., what natural resources or wealth does it have? It would be a blackhole if not for the riches it piliged from the rest of the world, its all well documented but never PAID back. They only apologize and tell others not to do what we did. In the end they keep what they stole.

The Dutch have a rather lengthy track record of being directly involved or accomplices to massacres. In a parallel universe, Holland's apology would possibly convince Serbia to unblock its SAA membership in the EU :)

it is not so much that those 'other' countries, that have imperialistic pasts, that have rapped and pillaged, do not have an opinion, but it is highly hypocritical to tell someone how wrong they are without dealing with your own wrong doings. if the nations that think they have cornered the market on riteous behaviour have skeltons such as this in their closets i ask you how reasonable of a mentor nation they are? if these nations of peace wish to propgate peace they should perhaps try to do so by example instead of shallow rhetoric.

respect and leadership are earned, not given or taken. this is the problem that these western nations have. they think that because they've run roughshod all over the planet, colonizing every corner in order to remove the valuables, kill the natives (if need be) and overall destroy to new colony in order to prop up their own homeland, that they should be listened to exclusively.

basically the west is saying in not so many words that it is ok to do whatever you want as long as you are strong enough. and only once the strong decide that it is no longer acceptable to do something everybody else must follow suite.
