Russia cannot grant citizenship to K. Serbs

They can still ask China, Iran, North-Korea, Cuba...

Russian President has studied carefully the request and decided:

1. not to accomodate it
2. make a symbolic gesture of good will but withing the international organizations via UNESCO not independentely.

In other words: total fiasco. The point 2 was said just for not to sound to harsh but the bttom line is that Russia said leave me out of your madenss. A U turn? No simply Russia backs Serbia because of her egoistic interests, cannot care less to go into an adventure for the sake of radicals, UDBA-shis and other idiots that dominate Serbian political scene for over 20 years now.

With news like this you've just got to feel sorry for the poor individual Serbs living in Northern Kosovo. They are getting the same deal as the Croatian Serbs living in the Krajina got prior to Operation Storm. The North Kosovo Serbs are encouraged by the Russians, the SNS, the Radicals, Kostunica and some in the Socialist and Democratic Parties. They are lied to by most politicians from all those parties. They are being manipulated by local Kosovo Serb leaders representing those parties as part of some kind of pre-election strategy in Serbia. And they are being controlled and manipulated by local organised crime bosses aka businessmen who are behind a campaign of bombing and intimidation which does not get much mention in Serbian media. Instead, they are told that "Thaci is the threat" whereas in fact the only armed force of any significance in Kosovo is KFOR, which is trying to enforce an EU arrangement that will prevent war in places like Sandzak and Presevo. Instead of being told what will happen under the EU, they are informed of "enemies" and "threats" of the "other". Whereas in fact the biggest threats to their livelihoods are the mendacious politicians and gangsters belonging to their own "ethnic group". Exactly how it was back in Milosevic's day. On the day that Russia denies them citizenship and Croatia gets an informal date for accession, you would think that people in Serbia and Northern Kosovo would wake up to the fact that, cloaked in the mantle of nationalism and a veneer of patriotism, their politicians are leading them down another dangerous path with a log rebellion.

The Serbs of North Kosovo are being manipulated by some serb politicians just like how the serbs of Croatia, Bosnia and South Kosovo. I wonder how come the serbs of North kosovo do not see that just in these recent days and weeks the serb politicians completely forgot the serbs of south of Ibar river/South Kosovo. This is how the serbs of north Kosovo will be forgotten very soon and they will have no choice but to join the Kosovo institutions. It is very, very sad that in the eyes of some serb politicians the values of some serbs are more than the values of some other serbs, just because they happened to live in the north or south of the Ibar river.
I wonder how the serbs of South Kosovo are feeling lately when they see that they are being forgotten and ignored by the serb politicians in Belgrade.

For instance as I commented for some b92 article back in July of this year that on a recent trip to the neighboring province of Nova Scotia and its capital city called Halifax that I ate at 2 different restaurants which were each owned and/or operated by Kosovar-Albanians where I enjoyed the meals they served me,these folks were relatively easy to communicate with,I didn't regard their businesses as being below standards and even though their meals were a bit pricey I never felt that they swindled me.

Second of all going back 10 years ago that on a brief trip to New York City/Manhattan I recall that at some particular hotel where we we're overnight guests that a bellhop( or whatever you call a hotel employee who assists guests with carrying luggage) was a Kosovar-Albanian national who assisted us with our luggage where most notably I regarded him as being pleasant as well and in addition he didn't attempt to damage nor steal our luggage.

Thirdly and a few years later the family except me vacationed in Italy and at some restaurant in Rome or Tuscany my father's waiter was this time an Albanian from Albania where my father had no complaints about him.

Finally & though I don't intend to sound boring with my comments but the point I'm raising is that you & I and some members of my family had different experiences with some Albanians.You may have had a negative experience with some Albanians while I and some family members had positive experiences with them.However I'll admit that some time ago I had annoying experiences with a few Albanian b92 viewers but thankfully I had positive experiences with other Albanians in real life.

Firstly Vladimir Putin is the boss not Medvedev. Secondly Medvedev was only making a point that under current legilstion it is not possible to grant the Serbs citizenship. However, that can easily be changed by amending the legislation.
The initial statement came from Putin via one of his ministers. It was not a real offer of citizenship but a warning to the west not to get carried away and do something foolish otherwise Russia will get involved directly.

My heart goes out to the poor brave Serbs of Kosovo. Imagine being afraid to go to sleep at night, afraid to go out for the day in case your house is robbed while you were gone or worse still they are waiting for you.
Being in a state of limbo where nobody cares about you.
This is Hell on earth and Tadic sleeps at night.
I have cried a lot for these wonderful people but my tears cannot help them.
Maybe my prayers will.
I can't even imagine what life is like for them because I am too scared to to there even in my imagination.

I wonder how come the serbs of North kosovo do not see that just in these recent days and weeks the serb politicians completely forgot the serbs of south of Ibar river/South Kosovo. This is how the serbs of north Kosovo will be forgotten very soon and they will have no choice but to join the Kosovo institutions. It is very, very sad that in the eyes of some serb politicians the values of some serbs are more than the values of some other serbs, just because they happened to live in the north or south of the Ibar river.
I wonder how the serbs of South Kosovo are feeling lately when they see that they are being forgotten and ignored by the serb politicians in Belgrade.
Life is not fair is it?

and these serbs, they TYPically (most, not all) allow themselves to be so used. they follow "their" criminals, they vote for the worst, most extreme radicals (typically) -- in croatia, now in bosnia w do-dik (before it was karadzic and plavsic, and that ilk), in kosovo (of old) it was arkan. so they are at the same time both victims and actors, mannning the barricades, supplying/throwing the molotov cocktails, doing the shooting. it is hard to feel much empathy for them, but things usually end so badly so badly for them.

can anyone see a happy ending here in mitrovica? not i. probably another kind of exodus, they'll call it "ethnic cleansing" and bring more bitterness into happy old serbia. no one on the other side will take responsibility, it will be the usual "we are the real victims..."

My people have always been extremely pro Russian-they even buried thier dead facing Russia. What fools we have been. We attack Tadic for being a traitor, and he is, but lets admit that some of our so called allies and brotherly kin have betrayed our people at every corner during the last 20 important years. Russia will never help Serbia. Russia is preoccupied appeasing america and germany-pure self interest. If you look at history closely you will see that the Russians for the last 6 decades have betrayed every ally they ever had.

Like Serbs ever thought Russia will do that. They only wanted to get the attention of the world about helpless people in Norther Kosovo being humiliated by KFOR and EU, who are supposed to be impartial and not the army in hands of Prishtina. So now Serbs are attacking KFOR with bare hands, according to KFOR, and poor KFOR with pepper spray and guns are loving those Serbs.

After reading your response to Pro-Me that I'm going to explain that in real life that some members of my family and myself had a positive experience with some Albanians.

For instance as I commented for some b92 article back in July of this year that on a recent trip to the neighboring province of Nova Scotia and its capital city called Halifax that I ate at 2 different restaurants which were each owned and/or operated by Kosovar-Albanians where I enjoyed the meals they served me,these folks were relatively easy to communicate with,I didn't regard their businesses as being below standards and even though their meals were a bit pricey I never felt that they swindled me.

Second of all going back 10 years ago that on a brief trip to New York City/Manhattan I recall that at some particular hotel where we we're overnight guests that a bellhop( or whatever you call a hotel employee who assists guests with carrying luggage) was a Kosovar-Albanian national who assisted us with our luggage where most notably I regarded him as being pleasant as well and in addition he didn't attempt to damage nor steal our luggage.

Thirdly and a few years later the family except me vacationed in Italy and at some restaurant in Rome or Tuscany my father's waiter was this time an Albanian from Albania where my father had no complaints about him.

Finally & though I don't intend to sound boring with my comments but the point I'm raising is that you & I and some members of my family had different experiences with some Albanians.You may have had a negative experience with some Albanians while I and some family members had positive experiences with them.However I'll admit that some time ago I had annoying experiences with a few Albanian b92 viewers but thankfully I had positive experiences with other Albanians in real life.

Vald made that statement as a warning to the west not to touch the Serbs and it has worked brilliantly. The Russians will not allow Kosovo to be recognized because it would become a threat to South stream.

What is it that you're talking about Peggy? Have you ever actually BEEN to the North? Prishtina's authority does not extend there, so what is it that those 'poor' people are afraid of?
