The majority of N Kosovo were always part of Serbia and still would prefer to be that way. There is no particularly good reason for insisting that they should not be ruled from Belgrade - after all, Pristina is unlikely ever to be able to rule freely there, so defacto the current rulers are neither Belgrade nor Pristina.

N Kosovo cannot be left under international rule forever, and imposing Pristina is just too heavy handed to work.

On this one, Pristina would do well to just give up the argument. However, as their aim has always been mono-ethincally motivated territorial conquest, they are unlikely to be reasonable on this. You can be sure that any such proposal will be met by claims on other bits of land - however, I think we have had enough of Albanian expansionism for the time being. This is just about letting one bit of border land continue to belong where it has always belonged for long times past.
