Vojvodina became for what it is because it was created as a province for Serbs. That is why there where two official languages in the province Illiryan (serbo-croatian) and German.
In the 1860s the province was abolished and became part of the kingdom of Hungary in austro-hungary. Vojvodina is going nowhere, why?
1) Most of the population there are now ethnic Serbs - 70%. Hungarians make up only about 15%, plus you have Croats, Slovaks, Romanians and Gypsies.
2) Hungary economy is a mess. Many Hungarians in Serbia know that and realise that they are better off IN Serbia where their politicians have clout over Belgrade, i.e. parliament in Novi Sad. In Hungary they would be nothing just like Slovenia is nothing in EU where in YU, Slovenia had alot of power and influence.
3) Hungarian army is crap so attacking Serbia is a big no-no. Besides they would get no support from other NATO countries and now you have a strong and assertive Russia who will and can pressure the West. Anyway, good luck trying to remove 70% Serbs of Vojvodina by force.
4) Jobbik - the only support inside Hungary for Greater Hungary comes from these losers who have like 15% of vote. I met some of these losers when I was in Budapest. However they are not as agressive as some of Croat hooligans that put in my windshield in Split, i will give them that.
So to sum it up, Vojvodina will remain in Serbia as will Presevo, Sandjak and the Bulgarians in south east. Regarding Kosovo, I think a deal will be struck that will be acceptable to all sides. Partition? yes, even my Albanian neighbour thinks so.

Otherwise a lot of stupidities was said here from both sides. Hungarians have only very - very remote connection to Koreans or Mongolians or Japanese (by similarity of language structure only). The traditional Hungarian fighting what made them being referred as "Mongols" was either self-inveted (and Mongols borrowed it!) or borrowed from Persia. Same applies to Serbs, Russians, Turks, etc. - look at the early pictures of these warriors, they look the same and have the same weapons, the recursive bow being the central thing. Who invented the recursive bow is not known, probably Persians.
Genetically it is all part of the same genetic pool if you look back ca. 30 thousand years. I.e. at average a Slovak, a Croatian, a Hungarian, an Ukrainian (and can add few more) are impossible to distinguish. It is a known fact. Probably because it was the same tribe a wihle (10000 + years ago) which did migrate from the East to West and back, following the migration path of big animals they did hunt.
Now about the politicians and that they did turn Magyarország into "Maszarország" - that is a very different case. There is no "genetic" about people being mean to each other in Hungary - they were turned into monsters.
From what I did notice, all kind of folks (Americans, Serbs, Russians, Albanians, you name them) are pretty much straightforward, i.e. you have a feeling with whom you deal with and it rarely is wrong. Not so with Hungarians - the problem is unique because of the circumstances and our Orbángutang did not made these circumstances better.

Not many Vojvodina-Hungarians want to live in that Maszarország to begin with. A country without backbone where people are not only regularly cheated - even worse, they hate each other like no one else and cheat each other. As someone not from Serbia and i dont really know any history about Vojvodina however i read from various sites that the majority of people are Serbs 67% one site quote from a 2002 census, so how would a referendum be a bad thing, and why do all those want to see an end to Serbia see a referendum as a good thing? Surely it would be majority rule?

As someone not from Serbia and i dont really know any history about Vojvodina however i read from various sites that the majority of people are Serbs 67% one site quote from a 2002 census, so how would a referendum be a bad thing, and why do all those want to see an end to Serbia see a referendum as a good thing? Surely it would be majority rule?

Hungary has been for a long time an artificial country ethnicly a mixture of magyarized serbs,croats,romanians,germans and slovaks.Most original hungarians were first decimated by their mongolian brothers in the 13th century and later by their others brothers the turks in the 16th century.From Vojvodina the original mongolian-type hungarians were running like rats to Tatra mountain areas mainly populated by hardworking slovaks being afraid of Turks as opposed to serbs who were brave enough to face them.So if you claim that something is yours fight for it instead of letting others fight for it cowards.

I love when this nobody and Canak would preach about decentralizing Serbia with a very centralized Vojvodina in Novi Sad. It is ridiculous. The problem is Serbia does not have a force other than Dveri to speak up against this. Vojvodina citizens would have to pay taxes twice for BGD and Novi Sad to have their "republika". TRUE decentralization is giving strong power to local municipal governments and the money each municipality makes stays in that municipality.
That is real decentralization, none of which would happen if these traitors got their way. Serbia needs to elect Dveri Srpske they are the true alternative for Serbia and the only one raising questions about these questionable and shady politicians.

For those who forget history, please be advised that in 2000, the majority from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) revolted against the Federal President, Milosevic, not because he fixed the election, but because they blamed him for loosing control of Serbia's southern Province of Kosovo!!

I'm reading the comments here and have suddenly become aware of just how many Hungarian nutters (or at least are claiming to be Hungarians) there are out there. Threats of war, seperatism, republicanism, all sorts. What's all this jobbik nonsense. Sound like a bunch of clowns from a circus. Some Magyars are obviously still upset about the loss of territory in 1919. Well that's what you get for being on the wrong side in two world wars. Not many Vojvodina-Hungarians want to live in that Maszarország to begin with. Vojvodina is going nowhere, why?
1) Most of the population there are now ethnic Serbs - 70%. Hungarians make up only about 15%, plus you have Croats, Slovaks, Romanians and Gypsies.
2) Hungary economy is a mess. Many Hungarians in Serbia know that and realise that they are better off IN Serbia where their politicians have clout over Belgrade, i.e. parliament in Novi Sad. In Hungary they would be nothing just like Slovenia is nothing in EU where in YU, Slovenia had alot of power and influence.
3) Hungarian army is crap so attacking Serbia is a big no-no. Besides they would get no support from other NATO countries and now you have a strong and assertive Russia who will and can pressure the West. Anyway, good luck trying to remove 70% Serbs of Vojvodina by force.
4) Jobbik - the only support inside Hungary for Greater Hungary comes from these losers who have like 15% of vote. I met some of these losers when I was in Budapest. However they are not as agressive as some of Croat hooligans that put in my windshield in Split, i will give them that.
So to sum it up, Vojvodina will remain in Serbia as will Presevo, Sandjak and the Bulgarians in south east. Regarding Kosovo, I think a deal will be struck that will be acceptable to all sides. Partition? yes, even my Albanian neighbour thinks so.
