"Thanks for reminding us of the commitment of the EU in its efforts to rescue the Kosovo Albanians from the reign of terror from the Milosevic regime. During this time of much Serbian rhetoric one sometime forgets the real reason we are in this mess. And it reminds us that as long as there are supporters like you to the cause that a whole nation of innocent people are still in danger.
(a New Day, 28 November 2011 17:08) "

If you need me or anyone else to remind you about something, it either means that you have a real terrible memory or else Milosevic's reign can't be all that bad as otherwise you wouldn't need any reminder of its alleged atrocities. Either way, the problem is yours and not mine.

As for your hysterics about "supporters like you" -- can you show me where in my posts did I ever state that I support Milosevic or his actions?????? Sweeping statements like yours only reflect your own ignorance. Just for the record, I'm not a Serb, Serbian citizen or from South East Europe.

"no. it isn't. Serbia still has to do the work. work that would only benefit Serbia and Serbs.

Then can you explain to us all how your "process of joining the EU" does not require Serbia to follow what the EU prescribe about reforms????? Stop fudging the issue and answer this basic question!

(pro-me, 28 November 2011 18:00):

I see that you have decided not to contest further my point about EU's stupidity in lending.

Instead you now accuse of complaining about Serbia receiving money .... when did I complain about this? Its not my money anyway. What I did was to talk about EU's stupidity for giving away money that "Sounds a lot" (your words) even though it is "Broke" (your word again). Barking up the wrong tree again no doubt.

But that's no longer a problem. That has already been solved since 1859 when Charles Darwin published his book "On the origin of species".

Yeah, we see it everyday by clicking the link "Economic crisis in Serbia" on the right of this page. Of course I don't enjoy, but feel sorry for the Serbs who have to face this economic crisis when millions of Serb taxpayer money are spent for the benefit of 1% of Serbs.
(icj1, 27 November 2011 19:28)

I’m not sure what you mean by this statement as Serbia is not the EU or US by any stretch of imagination, but I strongly suggest that you read the latest OECD report.
I also note how Serbian monasteries in Kosovo have to build walls around their lands to stop their neighbors from stealing fruit, vegetables, cattle and sheep because most are hungry and desperate – hope they enjoy their economic freedom brought to them by the west. I also presume that this is Albanian’s version of rule of law eh???

By the way, do you have the amount spent by those EU countries when they joined Nato in attacking Serbia back in 1999? And the amount of damage inflicted? I don't the total figure but it won't surprise me one bit if that figure makes your 976.4 million euros seem like a drop in the bucket!

(Danilo, 27 November 2011 15:50)"

Based on his comments "Dr." Danilo does not seem to be the right person to prescribe anything helpful. Serbia has, like many many countries and societies, problems because of various historical, internal, and external reasons. Calling it broken is more a personal view, probably based on some biased reasons. It is up to Serbia and the Serbs to figure out where they are today, how they got here, and where they want to go 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 years, and so on from now on (and also where you certainly do not want to go). The first thing is to see the division and find a common ground for all to move forward. The next will be to stay independent and be your own #1 and so stop pleasing enemies and others who do not care about Serbia and its people. Then recognize and acknowledge the good friends Serbia had and has and intensify relationships with these countries. Every society goes through the changes it needs when it is ready. Serbia and Serbs are brave and the things that need adjustments can be done. A society without poverty and with respect, a strong sense of historical and cultural belonging will be the base. And every Serb should be important and Serbia should be run by true Serbs and not be outsiders who will abuse it for their own purposes.

I know when the slavs came to the balkans. And I know when albanians came to Kosovo. 100-150 years ago you fled impoverished Albania. To Albania you came from either Turkey or Hell. Since then you continue to escape the "pride of Europe" and settle in Kosovo.
Show me one building, monument or other proof that would indicate that albanians were in Kosovo before the serbs? Just one! It more likely that the ancient illyrian culture didn't leave any traces behind because they were never there in the first place.

Now I have been asking Albanians for proof of their ownership of Kosovo for a long time now and so far nothing. Not one piece of evidence in that form or in the form of any old map showing it as part of Albania or indeed something separate from Serbia.
So please do as you ask us to do and prove something instead of making yourself look silly by asking for something you clearly don't have.

Well said Kostunica, I agree totally. As long as the EU believes you want to join they'll use it as leverage against you- they have done nothing for Serbs and although I believe they would eventually want you in it is only because they can control you, they won't want a free country in the middle of Europe. All this talk of a three tier Europe is much like the third Reich's ideas of a hierachy of people with the Germans being top and the others as slave workers and second class citizens or third class citizens. The EU was set up as a trading common maket and the people of Europe have been lied to again and again. You're right that Serbia needs to fix it's own problems before worrying about the EU

Serbia is broken. So broken, it doesn't even realize how broken it is.

The path to the EU gives Serbia a blueprint to fix what's broken with it.

No, Serbia can't do this by itself. It would be better if it could, but it can't. It's too broken. It needs a doctor. It needs outside intervention.

The path to the EU (also sick and broken, but in different ways), gives Serbia what it needs to fix itself.

Whether or not Serbia actually joins the EU is a different story. Personally, I don't know the right answer. In a few years, who knows, the parameters of that decision making might change.

However, now, the road to the EU is the best chance Serbia has for fixing itself.

It was Kostunica personally who delayed the negotiation of the SAA by messing up relations with The Hague. Funny he should stress the importance of free trade with the EU now.

Koštunica signed a 99 year lease with the americans for their base Camp Bondsteel. So Mr. Koštunica, how exactly did that help Serbia or the serbs in Kosovo when that base allows supports american ethnic cleansing of kosovo serbs and is also a black site for the torture of suspected terrorists they have captured in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere? Have you learnt your lesson yet or do you talk big but do nothing once you actually have the responsibility of government?

Diana

pre 12 godina

Well said Kostunica, I agree totally. As long as the EU believes you want to join they'll use it as leverage against you- they have done nothing for Serbs and although I believe they would eventually want you in it is only because they can control you, they won't want a free country in the middle of Europe. All this talk of a three tier Europe is much like the third Reich's ideas of a hierachy of people with the Germans being top and the others as slave workers and second class citizens or third class citizens. The EU was set up as a trading common maket and the people of Europe have been lied to again and again. I hope the EU falls apart, the people aren't happy, let's get back to it being a common market instead of a gravy train for unelected demi-gods.

Aleks, where did you get that information? I doubt very much that Kostunica would do something like that. I know the US was trying to get a 99 year lease, not only on camp bondsteel, but also other places around Serbia. I can't find any information that they succeeded.

What he claims is all true. What is the point of these EU talks? They are meaningless expulsion of hot air and diverting from issues that really need attention. The best Serbia should look for is trade agreements.
If there is any Serb deluded enough that believes that Euros will rain on Serbia after joining the EU then I’m very sorry for you. There is no money.
The EU is no longer the same entity it was in 2000 and its survival is on the table. As I heard one economist say today - the dark clouds are gathering over Europe and the US and they will get darker and many will feel the pains of allowing financial systems run wild.

"I prescribe the process of joining the EU to fix Serbia's broken society.
