Yes these thousands of Croats left AFTER the KLA/Albanians and NATO got full control. There was a murder and rape of Croats in the summer of 1999 and after that they started leaving by several hundreds. Tudjman was still alive and in charge of Croatia and he had the Croats leaving overnight (I suspect they didn't want much news coverage as it would look bad for the Albanians and would get the Croat population angry against ethnic Albanians and that might play into helping the Serbs, and Tudjman couldn't have that.)
Many of the Kosovo Croats were settled in areas of Croatia were the Serbs had been cleansed. But I found a news article several months ago that said many of the Kosovo Croats were leaving (or trying to leave) Croatia for Canada.

Yes, let's use this for something: It nicely sums up the mentality of the Kosovo Albanians: Each and every ethnically motivated crime is downplayed as deeds of 'playing kids' instead of condemning these incidents. As long as this mentality won't change, higher employment, better educated people and more experienced police won't improve anything in the independent dream state of Kosovo.

270 Croats aren't happy with their living standard in Kosova and B92 has to report. Those 270 Croats should move to Croatia. 500,000 Croats Croats in BiH are very unhappy with the fake state that they live in and not one mention from B92..

I mean, is there any facts that this community's existence is in real danger? I know that this time is hard for Kosova, It has unexperienced police, high uneployment and a lot of uneducated people but those are the handicaps left on the country from decades of unrest it has gone through, and I hope that the Croatian Nation understands and feels the phases this country is going through.

Ataman we are in Kosovo protecting what who knows it is pathetic. First ethnic cleansed by Serbs now being finished off by Albanians and Roma let them have at each other again. I guess it will be better safer for the Kosovo Croatians in Croatia. Did you make it to Rovinj http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7K4yHo5Blo&feature=related like you said before you would like to see it.

Where is the Croatian Armed Forces in Kosovo they should be in that village scattering evil doers with helicopter gun ships as the worlds good police man [link] .

Busy protecting Croatian villages in Afghanistan. Oh, wait, there are no Croatian villages in Afghanistan to protect, only American political establishment's interests. Bad luck, I guess. Don't get it wrong, I am with you regarding protecting Croatians in Kosovo.... and I am not very exited about protecting the interests of U.S. political establishment in Afhanistan.

If K Albanians treat their friends the Croats this badly, why should we believe that Serbs would be treated better in an "independent kosovo"?

trizo

It's ironic how the Croats recognise Kosovo independence from Serbia but have done nothing to mitigate the cleansing of Croat citizens from Kosovo by Albanian intimidation tactics.

"Croatian Parliament Speaker Luka Bebić informed Janjevo Croats about the talks with top Kosovo officials who said that Croats will get the national minority status in the coming elections, and that the next step is appointment of a Croat minority representative in the Kosovo assembly."

Does anyone think a 'minority status' will improve the situation for these Croatian people? Serbs have minority status, and they face exactly the same problems: Intimidation, crime, robbery, attacks, destruction of property, and so on. KPS Police isn't able or willing to find the criminal perpetrators, maybe they are even in cahoots with them.
