Russia threatens West with missile deployment

I wonder how far into western europe those Russian missles could reach if launched from Serbia or Republika Srpska?

I always find it funny how the Serb diaspora rooting for Russia happen to reside in the West. It never ceases to amaze me

I don't think anybody is rooting for either side. Life on earth would cease to exist as we know it should their be a nuclear war, no matter who has the latest technolgy. There seems to be better world stability when there are 2 forces, instead of one country(USA) getting drunk with power.

I'm sure when those EU nations in between Russia and Serbia start to feel the cold winds blowing this winter and Russia shuts off the gas, they will let anything Russia wants through.

Yes! The shift in the world power structure that we have been waiting for has shown the first signs of its presence. They are Dacic's statement about possibly going to war over Kosovo and now this.

Why should we renouce our defense against rogue states...just because of Russian paranoia and of their technical and scientific inability to set up such modern miltary systems ?!!!

Let them bring their missiles and see if they only dare think to use it...

30 or 35 minutes is still to long of a time frame to destroy missles that have already been launched. The Americans and Russians have had long range capabilites for decades. So what you are saying is that the American missles will hit their targets first. What do you suppose will happen to the targets of the Ruusian missles once they stike?

Why all this hostility to Russia? Isn't communism dead in the East? Isn't that what NATO was supposed to be all about? Remember that the same people who defend themselves with the Iskander also give us an international space program. What do we want from the Russians? Submission? Free access to their natural resources? Cheap labor? Russia will never be a China, and even China is rising fast. And China is communist. Is a republican, free market Russian Federation a bigger threat than communist China? NATO is an alliance without a mission. Stomping on the fingers of middle eastern countries looks like hard work for NATO and it just barely hangs together. Not exactly the kind of mettle to deal with a neighboring military stronghold like Russia. Russia is a better friend than an enemy and deserves to be treated like a friend.

I truly believe that Russia should deploy medium range missles on Serbian soil for two reasons.
1. To protect Serbia from any type of military threat from Nato or others.
2. To allow Serbia to function with confidence.

As they should, no reason why Russia cannot do so if NATO insists on it. Spare a missile for Pristina also, just incase someone needs to be taught a lesson.

Do we need to remind them that the NATO (US + FR + UK) nuclear potential is TERRIFIC and could 100 times wipe out the slightest sign of anything russian on this earth ?

Wow,either you are joking or your on another planet.The Russians are quit okay in technology,if you did not notice,they are already developing new space craft to to accompany US astronauts to the ISS.But that aside you clearly know next to nothing about geostrategy,ever heard of a little something called nuclear deterance?

As for defense against rogue states i think that the west contradicts itself by supporting rogue states like the entity they help set up in Prishtina.Why do they then support or suppoted" rogue' states if you will that are no better than Iran when it comes to human rights,democracy,transparency or stability:Israel,Saudi Arabia,Kuwait,uganda,mubarack's Egypte,Afghanistan,Morroco,and many more.They complain about rogue states yet they give guns to the ghadaffi regime just before turning against him.what about the danger Iran poses?might be great,but they dont help by putting us troops right next to them!I dont see them crying when they gave nuclear weapons to such an instable state as Pakistan,so how does that work out?

During Desert Storm western military manufactures took conventional bombs and placed cameras in the nose and called it “laser guided” charged a fortune for each unit and we had people in the west walking around like zombies quoting western superiority BS day and night.

When the US Audit office did an audit they found out what had happened and was anyone placed behind bars? Not a soul.

This would have to be the finest example of people who quote an incident but know little of what was behind it nor the real reason for those actions. A little knowledge is deadly in certain people’s hands.

The reasons the Russians didn’t send missiles to Cuba not out of fear, it was a roose to get the US to remove missile systems in Turkey which was on the border with the Soviet Union. They even knew about Kennedy’s weaknesses and addiction to pain killers asnd in the end got what they were after – missiles were removed. There is even a documentary on the subject – where do you people live? Under a rock?

Anyone here, on either side, who talks about military nuclear power as if it were testosterone ought to hear from the few remaining survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, or the thousands of US, British and Soviet soldiers still (barely) alive who had to witness atmospheric nuclear tests carried out by those states in the 40s, 50s and 60s.

Additionally, those who boast of Western nuclear power (and most of them, I suspect, are from ineffectual mini-states propped up by the West) need to understand that Russia and China do not need to equal the West in nuclear firepower in order to deter further aggression.

At such a level it can never simply be a numbers game.

This is where it becomes amazingly clear that some Albanians are clueless about the US. Now, educated Americans know that the US needs a strong Russia to justify it's military expenditure. After the fall of the Soviet Union it became hard to sell military budgets to the American people. While some of you are playing chess with the American military, Boeing and other super contractors are grinning as they eagerly await the next huge contract for some new toy (e.g., airplane or ship). So, stop complaining about a strong Russia. If you really like the US, you should be thankful; it will create more jobs.

At least it is better then what the Russians do. Send hole national groups children ,women ,men to Siberia to freeze to death and to labour camps until they drop dead of exhaustion and hunger.

Do you honestly think that most Serbs living abroad chose to move abroad after the wars? Do you think there was the option to live a normal life in Serbia or Bosnia or Croatia after wars?

I for example live abroad because the fascist NAZI regime of Germany (including you Albanians) captured my Grandfather who was fighting for his country. They took 11 years of his life & 6 were in a concentration camp. The choice he had after the war was America or Australia & they chose Australia. He left with Red Cross handouts & nothing of his own.

The exact same story for my Grandmother.

When you are given no choices and you end up in another country you need to make a new start to survive and make money and live. You have to build a life. This takes time.

We love Serbia and I have a property in Sumadija (central Serbia) which I visit regularly and will start building a house soon. I lived there last year for 6 months and played rugby league for the national team and also trialled with FK Cukaricki Stankom first division.

Is this all just diaspora or are do you see a bigger picture now?

Just for your information,Russia has the capability to destroy the Whole West within 30 minutes tenfold,at least you Germans should know their capabilities after they crushed you in WW2 and sent 20+ million Germans wandering from East Prussia to Western Germany...

Anyway,Serbia will sooner or later via Russia get nuclear weapons or at least enough highly enriched uranium to build dozens of bombs!
We have the know-how to construct a h-bomb(Vinca laboratory near Belgrade) and we have also the ingenieurs to construct medium range cruise missiles who could carry those weapons!

I hope the Russians will very soon set up that base in Nis!

No trizo, the reason why i should find it odd, is that most Serb commentators here curse the West, call it criminal, evil, murderous, dangerous, thieves yet they all, ALL choose to earn their good living in the same sphere they wish it ill upon. That to me, is the definition of hypocrisy. There is a reason why the West has such a strong pull for Serbs and Russia has only ever a rhetorical attraction. Anyway,Serbia will sooner or later via Russia get nuclear weapons or at least enough highly enriched uranium to build dozens of bombs!
We have the know-how to construct a h-bomb(Vinca laboratory near Belgrade) and we have also the ingenieurs to construct medium range cruise missiles who could carry those weapons!

I hope the Russians will very soon set up that base in Nis!

Why all this hostility to Russia? Isn't communism dead in the East? Isn't that what NATO was supposed to be all about? Remember that the same people who defend themselves with the Iskander also give us an international space program. What do we want from the Russians? Submission? Free access to their natural resources? Cheap labor? Russia will never be a China, and even China is rising fast. And China is communist. Is a republican, free market Russian Federation a bigger threat than communist China? NATO is an alliance without a mission. Stomping on the fingers of middle eastern countries looks like hard work for NATO and it just barely hangs together. Not exactly the kind of mettle to deal with a neighboring military stronghold like Russia. Russia is a better friend than an enemy and deserves to be treated like a friend.

This is where it becomes amazingly clear that some Albanians are clueless about the US. Now, educated Americans know that the US needs a strong Russia to justify it's military expenditure. After the fall of the Soviet Union it became hard to sell military budgets to the American people. While some of you are playing chess with the American military, Boeing and other super contractors are grinning as they eagerly await the next huge contract for some new toy (e.g., airplane or ship). So, stop complaining about a strong Russia. If you really like the US, you should be thankful; it will create more jobs.

Do you honestly think that most Serbs living abroad chose to move abroad after the wars? Do you think there was the option to live a normal life in Serbia or Bosnia or Croatia after wars?

I for example live abroad because the fascist NAZI regime of Germany (including you Albanians) captured my Grandfather who was fighting for his country. They took 11 years of his life & 6 were in a concentration camp. The choice he had after the war was America or Australia & they chose Australia. He left with Red Cross handouts & nothing of his own.

The exact same story for my Grandmother.

When you are given no choices and you end up in another country you need to make a new start to survive and make money and live. You have to build a life. This takes time.

We love Serbia and I have a property in Sumadija (central Serbia) which I visit regularly and will start building a house soon. I lived there last year for 6 months and played rugby league for the national team and also trialled with FK Cukaricki Stankom first division.

Is this all just diaspora or are do you see a bigger picture now?

Anyone here, on either side, who talks about military nuclear power as if it were testosterone ought to hear from the few remaining survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, or the thousands of US, British and Soviet soldiers still (barely) alive who had to witness atmospheric nuclear tests carried out by those states in the 40s, 50s and 60s.

Additionally, those who boast of Western nuclear power (and most of them, I suspect, are from ineffectual mini-states propped up by the West) need to understand that Russia and China do not need to equal the West in nuclear firepower in order to deter further aggression.

At such a level it can never simply be a numbers game.

If you are so blind that you cannot see let me open your eyes. With the Russians showing their hand over Kosovo and even offering the Serbs citizenship and openly stating that they are defending Serbs rights, its called confronting NATO and confronting it in a big way at that.

Since the Russians have shown their hand where is KFOR or NATO for that matter in Kosovo? God, you people put a lot of faith in NATO as if it the be all and end all. It’s being whipped to a stand still by people living in mud huts with Kalashnikovs and weapons that the US classifies as WW2 equipment.

NATO would have stopped the Southstream pipeline going through Bulgaria if it could.
