The Russians are about to buy Eurobonds but they don’t do this out of sympathy for the EU, they do it because the EU has agreed to their terms.
(sj, 20 November 2011 03:57)

Of course, (assuming Russian are indeed buying Eurobonds) they are doing it because the borrower (EU) has agreed to pay interest rates as it already pays to all other buyers of Eurobonds. That's finance 101; the borrower borrows, uses the funds to generate a profit, keeps a portion of the profit and uses the other portion to pay interest to the lender. All parties in the transaction win, otherwise the transaction would not happen.

Nothing happens for sympathy my friend; only for profit. Russia would not buy Eurobonds because of sympathy for the EU, and EU would not pay Russia interest because of sympathy for Russia.

In 2002 Russia was still a very poor country which could not support 2500 troops outside of Russia, in fact it had difficulty keeping the Russian military intact.
(sj, 20 November 2011 03:57)

Not according to Putin. Are you saying that Putin was lying ?

In any case, Russia in 2002 was stronger than Russia in 1999 and still it took the troops back to Russia. So Russia in 2011 being stronger than Russia in 2002, only means that now it will take back more (like the Serbs that have applied for citizenship) :)

In 2002 Russia was still a very poor country which could not support 2500 troops outside of Russia, in fact it had difficulty keeping the Russian military intact. There were many stories of officers having to work a second job just to keep their families in cloths and food.
I recall Russia held an international gathering in St Peterburg during Putin’s first term and to hide the derelict buildings that have fallen into disrepair the Russians placed screens because Russia had no money to renew that beautiful city. Go there today and have a good look; as a colleague said it’s magnificent.
It was not until Putin’s second term when change began where we now have Russia as a energy super giant and money began to flow.
The Russians are about to buy Eurobonds but they don’t do this out of sympathy for the EU, they do it because the EU has agreed to their terms.
The Russia of 2002 and 2011 are world’s apart.

Lalo – your version of history and Barbarossa misses some key points. Russia/Soviet Union did nothing to protect Yugoslavia and it’s Serb citizens from Nazi attack. Why? Because Russia/Soviet Union made a pact with Nazi Germany – they were allies! This was the disgraceful Molotov-Ribbentop Pact. Mother Russia invaded much of Slavic eastern Europe in 1939 and left Yugo/Serbia to suffer. Mother Russia only helped Yugo/Serbia after the Nazis, turned on her at Barbarossa.

Incidentally, the Russian/Soviet domination of Eastern Europe continued right up to the fall of the Berlin Wall – easy to see why those countries don’t see Russia as the source of anything except repression.

Ben, The entire operation to occupy yugoslavia by the nazis stalled barborrossa by 2 months. These two moths mean everything because the winter set in russia and the germans were not prepared which stopped the germans from advancing. This is the reason I said serbs played a big part in WW2. And through out WW2 Hitler had to pull divisions from the eastern front to yugoslavia to try to crush the serbs and partizans which releaved pressure on soviets.

That's right about time they all packed up and left the Balkans for good... back to the Carpathian mountains where you all came from, back to the bosom of Mother Russia it is then! It took them nearly 1000 years to realise that stealing from other people is wrong!

'He pointed out official Moscow "understands perfectly the motives of Kosovo Serbs who are in a desperate situation in which, despite UN Security Council Resolution 1244, they are forced to follow the dictate of Priština, which wants to deprive them of the right to self-government, with the direct support of NATO and EULEX".'

Are you listening Tadic, you minion you?! That was a well directed slap in your face. :) Support your people, or we will do it without you, is the message.

'Lavrov said NATO and EULEX are violating the UN mandate which obligates them to neutrality regarding Kosovo's status, adding Russia is strongly opposed to this.

"We intend to defend the rights of Serbs wherever they live, taking into account all options stemming from international and Russian law," Lavrov pointed out.'

Oh boy. I hope Berlin and Washington and their NATO gang of war criminals are listening. All options 'from international law and Russian law'. That is diplomatic speak for 'back off wankers!'. Thank you Russia and thank God the bear is waking up!!
Cheers!!

“NATO and EULEX are violating the UN mandate …”

Where and when Mr.Tadic or his FM said it in such a direct and uncompromising manner ? Never and nowhere ! Only common people in Serbia can call spade a spade. The Jinjic type yuppie elites of Serbia pray towards Brussels and DC Columbia. They fear to lose their second and main passports and green cards. So they talk roundabouts. Think that Lavrov’s statement is a moral support for SNS and their allies. And it definitely is a support for all of the Serbs. Look how active the dog’s chorus started to bark here ! More and more they understand that nothing is over yet.

This is amazing BS. Russian troops were in Kosovo and they left abruptly. If Russia wanted to defend the Serbian interests in Kosovo Russia had the options to keep the troops in the ground and help both sides but instead they left without a notice.

First of all your name sounds rather Russian and if you don’t mind I”ll call you Манда. Thus my dear Манда I have to note that you misunderstood the direction of the trend. Seems like we are going to send support to our brothers in KM. Our soldiers will not have to build churches there and even the prayers are the same. You and other Манда people know what always happens to those who dislike us. So you should smile very very photogenic each time a Russian soldier will ask your Loyalty Card.

Till then !

You mean to expedite "repatriation" of Serbs to Russia? No need, we will set up some tents at the Prishtina Airport. Temporal stay of some Russian officials won't be an issue. They can take the last plane with those Kosovo Serbs leaving to Russia. Send us a postcard from Siberia.

We stand our ground and stay true to our belief's. All other slavs in europe bent over backwards and said give it to me to the west except Serbs. Thanks to Serbs the Russians beat the Germans in WW2 because our small nation said no to the facists and postponed barborossa and gave Russians time. Our small nation with no fear against the most powerful army said you are wrong. Its in every history book so dont try to be smart because you will only look worse then now. Its a shame that I waisted a minute of my time on you MATE!

That was 1999 and Russia was broke, but today is 2011 and how the tables have turned where we now have Putin announcing that Russia will buy Eurobonds subject to a few other matters being ironed out. In diplomatic language it means the EU are in the final stages of selling out to Moscow.

Russian Forces left Kosovo in the summer of 2002, not 1999. Putin was president when that happened. 2600 troops RF troops entered Kosovo in 1999 when Jeltzin was president and at that time Russia was really broke. The year 2002 was much better than 1999 but still Putin has decided to withdraw RF troops from Kosovo.

In any case, Russia in 2002 was stronger than Russia in 1999 and still it took the troops back to Russia. So Russia in 2011 being stronger than Russia in 2002, only means that now it will take back more (like the Serbs that have applied for citizenship) :)
