“First recognition of borders, then joint control”

This isn't news. This is Albanian fantasy and we hear it very frequently here. If Albanians attempt to take it all then they will lose it all. Besides, the so-called negotiations have failed and the people have taken matters into their own hands. This is the EU/US attempting to complete unfinished business under the guise of dialogue before it is too late. Well, the "dialogue" has failed and it is too late.

Albs thanks for this. You made it so no politician in Belgrade would ever agree to that which I am sincerely thankful for. Its very simple. We can't fight another war (God knows its not the Albs we cannot fight, but Camp Bondsteel) but Kosovo is still LEGALLY apart of Serbia. Defacto, most of Kosovo is separated from Serbia (not as a country, more a Western colony).

My simple question to our Albanian friends is this..if Serbia's opinion and policy towards Kosovo does not matter, why is there such a pressure on Belgrade to "accept the reality".

The reality is, for now the status quo suites Serbia's realistic national interest. We cannot control Kosovo, but its amputation cannot be legitimized without Belgrades approval. The status quo only HURTS the West and more importantly, Pristina.

"Offering" Northern Kosovo to Serbia in exchange for recognition is not compromise. Pristina could never govern Mitrovica in a million years. Those Serbs would have nothing to live for under that kind of governance so they will die for that not to happen. Remain the status quo, watch Western money sink into a black hole and the Albanians will STILL have nothing to show for.

As we know by now Serbia have to have good neighbourly relations with Kosovo if it wants to have a chance to enter EU. Serbia cannot live as an island surrounded by EU countrys so it will be forced to enter EU. You are jucky for the time being that 5 EU countrys dosen't officaly recognize the independence of Kosovo but if Serbia dosen't recognize Kosovo soon then this 5 countrys will. Then Kosovo will be a member of EU before Serbia and there is nothing Serbia can do against Kosovo anymore.

We albanians have historic buildings such as houses,churches and mousques wich dates way back. But we respect that serbs also live and have lived in Kosovo. But that dosen't make Kosovo a part of the serbian state.

All Serbia has to do is continue this stalemate. The K-Albanians' international supporters do not care that much about a million or so people in a small province. They will eventually be elbow deep in someone else's issues; since they have much larger problems globally (and possibly even domestically). Then they will let this pseudo-state project slowly fade into the background (to avoid the citizens from questioning why their tax dollars were spent on a failed operation). At that time when the K-Albanians realize that they have lost support and don't have any more money pouring in they will say "ummm, ok let's sit down and talk now." But it will be too late.

Someone was living in Kosovo before slavs/serbs came to Balkan. It was not free of people since we know the dardanians lived there before. I wonder who burned down their herige in Kosovo? buildings,religious sites etc ?? But it dosen't matter actully who was there first. Kosovo will stay independent. It will never be a part of Serbia. We albanians diden't occupy Kosovo since we have lived here for centurys. We are an majority here. That has a very easy solution. Serbia is free to call it "administrative line" and does not have to have Pristina's permission for that. The same way that Pristina does not need Serbia's permission to call it "border".
