Kosovo will never be 'lost' from us so to speak.
(trizo, 25 October 2011 04:35)

We are sure that Kosovo will always live in your heart and mind, trizo. Good for you. However, not sure the average Albanian in Kosovo would care about that or would even know who trizo is :)

To all the Albanians saying Kosovo was lost years ago.

Kosovo has been lost to Serbia in the past many times and for longer periods than at present.

Do you think we haven't been in this position before?

Serbians know Kosovo as the cradle of our religion & our cultural & spiritual ties to Kosovo won't ever go away. We will teach our kids and their kids & so on and just remember that there are more Serbians in the world than Albanians.

Just do some research about Kosovo's history & you'll realise how much stronger our race is than yours :)

Kosovo will never be 'lost' from us so to speak.

I feel sorry for you Albanians that only know to live in the present and make statements about Kosovo's status (present & future) purely based on the current status quo.

"After the meeting in Belgrade, they stated that they received assurance that agreement on the deployment of Kosovo Albanian customs officers at the Jarinje and Brnjak crossings was not reached on September 2 along with the agreement on customs stamps"

Of course not; the fact that customs taxes have to be collected has already been decided by UNMIK in 1999. That's not open for discussion between Albanians and Serbs. UNMIK regulations are there to be implemented, not to be discussed.

Customs stamps was a different matter. It is Serbia's sovereign right to recognize or not the customs stamps of another country, and viceversa. On that one, agreement is needed between the parties.

Name me a time when Kosovo Serbs could rely on Belgrade politicians... Exactly...

@"("KFOR") will deploy following the adoption of the UNSCR referred to in paragraph 1 and operate without hindrance within Kosovo and with the authority to take all necessary action to establish and maintain a secure environment for all citizens of Kosovo and otherwise carry out its mission."
Notice the "without hindrance" and "take all necessary action" and "all citizens of Kosovo" this would include Customs agents.

To secure a save environment for all people of Kosovo, including those who do not obey to the warlords in Pristina, EULEX and KFOR are supposed to prevent that the personnel loyal to the rogues are roaming around. As a kind of "humanitarian assistance" and as "protection of innocent civilians" like NATO terms it in other parts of then world, the "free movement" of this personnel carrying openly the badges of the warlords needs to be stopped. Everything else is clear-cut evidence of the existence of double-standards in EU and NATO course of action.

As Dr Jan Oberg, Director, head of the TFF Conflict-Mitigation team
to the Balkans and Georgia, a personal adviser to Rugova said in 1998:The potentials of principled nonviolence is not consumed in Kosovo/a. In fact, it has not been tried yet..."
That means that clan based and undemocratic people, as albanians are, were not up for peace but for boodshed, they only think of themselves...

Boris Tadić Sunday told Serb leaders from northern Kosovo that the citizens there were fully entitled to defend their legitimate interests by peaceful means

The Ibrahim Rugova approach which leads "nowhere"

Tadic has given good advice, whilst fighting for Serbia diplomatically. If he had told Northern kosovo Serbs to use violent means to defend their interests then a massive military force could descend and who do you think would win? And how much sooner do you think that massive military and political force would hand kosovo completely over to Pristina?

Look at how Ghandi won India from the British.

So, are these the same leaders that called him a traitor that obeys to the West just a couple of days ago? And now they go meet with him, surprise, surprise. Or are these other leaders? How many leaders do we have there in northern Kosovo?

Sebastian

Other media are reporting this meeting as follows:

"Tadic asked the mayors of four northern Kosovo towns to allow the free movement of NATO peacekeepers in the region, KFOR.

However, the local officials refused to agree."

Buried under the waffle of the article is the fact that the Kosovo Serbs refuse to obey the requests of the president of the state to whom they allegedly declare allegiance.

Why does the truth have to be hidden ? Is it because "you can't handle the truth"?

pss

One would have to wonder why he would be less than truthful with them.
The 6 point plan was included in the report by the UNSG to the UNSC, stating these were the results of talks between Belgrade and himself, also included was Annex 1 which stated that the Kosovo authorities rejected the plan. The security council has never taken any type of action on the 6 point plan the same as the Ahtisaari Plan, neither has received an endorsement or rejection from the UNSC. Eulex stated immediately prior to and continually that it is not bound by the 6 point plan.

However the 6 point plan says that international customs officers will be immediately (11/2008) at the 2 checkpoints, this following the other "peaceful protest" by K-Serbs in which the checkpoints were burned and many international officers were injured. It also states that all of Kosovo will be one customs unit.
It does not state anywhere that Kosovo customs agents cannot also be placed there nor does it say that it is permanent, nor that it is to be an exception to 1244 where it states that duties are to be transferred to the democratically elected government of Kosovo.

The Kumonovo agreement states:
"
The international security force ("KFOR") commander is the final authority regarding interpretation of this Agreement and the security aspects of the peace settlement it supports. His determinations are binding on all Parties and persons."
it also says:
"("KFOR") will deploy following the adoption of the UNSCR referred to in paragraph 1 and operate without hindrance within Kosovo and with the authority to take all necessary action to establish and maintain a secure environment for all citizens of Kosovo and otherwise carry out its mission."

SCP i'm not sure how you think another war in this part of the world would benefit the ordinary citizen of Serbia or for that matter Kosovo. I agree that this situation should have been sorted out by now after more than 10 years and it looks bad on the international community that this hasn't been sorted out. Serbs have got to realise that Albanians no longer want to be ruled by Serbs and Albanians have to realise that their nearest neighbours (Serbia) are their best hope of a prosperous economic future. So get round the table! Start talking and stop insulting one another and recognise that you both need one another if this part of the world is to see living standards rise.

There was no progress because most likely Tadic was completely insufficient in helping the Serbs in Kosovo, rather just taking the cowardly approach of always calling for peace and restraint, while KFOR ignores such requests. The true shame is that the Kosovo Serbs can no longer rely on the Belgrade politicians, they have already made their minds up about Kosovo but to just go out there and admit they are once and for all letting Kosovo go would be disastrous in election results. However the people are not stupid, they can see whats going on, its just a matter of when will they grow the courage to get rid of him.
