"As for the English, they are either pretentious liberals who advocate this internationalism crap or they are hooded scumbags who roam the streets intimidating and terrorising good people."

Sorry, but if you can seriously post such puerile drivel about the English, then you undermine the credibility of anything else that you have to say. If I were to post about Serbs in the same way (both terms being insulting and patently untrue), you would rightly accuse me of ignorance and bigotry.

According to some reports yesterday LDP might be forming some kind of coalition with Vuk Draskovic and Rasim Ljajic.

I'm not sure how clever this is really, if it happens, but the calculation might be that it would dilute objections to LDP because the others do not cause a Cedo phobia in voters. Ljajic remains popular for being the minority candidate that is moderate, (supposedly) relatively honest and (last time I checked) an opponent of an independent Kosovo. Draskovic is more divisive, although his former cetnik supporters have long since left SPO.
\
SCP you yourself lumped Tadic and Jovanovic together as co-'traitors' in an earlier post. You can't be right both times when saying that DS has more in common with SNS.

And as usual people are behaving as if Kosovo is the most important electoral issue. Remember people in Serbia are pretty clear now that no matter who comes to power that we won't be able to change the situation or international policy. People used to believe that something could be changed, but not any more.

To me, and I am not alone, it is clear that no party has a good or realistic position on Kosovo. For that reason I won't be basing my vote on the position of said party on the basis of their Kosovo policy. On that basis Kosovo ceases to be an election issue at all. And its not the fault of the people that vote this way, its the fault of Serbian politicial parties for not offering any kind of solution for Kosovo.

Peggy, people are very dissatisfied and in the end they will vote for parties they believe will improve the economy / their lives and they will vote against (mainly) the governing parties. I don't think its the end of the world if LDP and those other parties double their combined vote. They will still not decide policy.

That would be an absolute catastrophe.
The same thing happened here at our last elections in Australia. People protested against major parties and put too many Greens in. One of the parties decided to buddy up to the Greens in order to get government so now we have the worst government in history. Everyone is up in arms and demanding another election.
If Cedo gets any more votes as a result of people protesting then Serbia is gone and that is not being dramatic.

I can only hope that people are smarter than that and take a look at what happens when you give votes to some two bit party only out of protest.

‘…Britain as a whole is a nation that completely lacks any tradtional culture of its own…’
SCP UK

That’s because Britain is not a nation but an imbalanced and now increasingly dysfunctional union of several nations; namely England, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, the Isle of the Man, the Channel Islands and about a third of the Irish nation.

Of all these nations, England (85% of the UK) and Cornwall, with its quarter of a million inhabitants and rapidly dying Celtic language, have no parliaments of their own and, unlike the other nations, have their laws made for them by politicians from all over the UK.

England subsidises the rest of the UK but is denied the same levels of healthcare, free medicine, care for the elderly and higher education enjoyed by the Welsh, Scots and Northern Irish. British politicians can rarely even bring themselves to say the very words ‘English’ or ‘England’ but prefer the term ‘regions’, or they say ‘Britain’ when they only mean England, yet refer separately to Scotland, Wales and Ulster, etc.

English culture is often downplayed or ridiculed while the cultures of the rest of the UK get much more exposure, and if we object to this we are shouted down and labeled nationalists, etc.

So you see, my nation – England – has its own Čedomir Jovanovićs, and plenty of them, God help us!

SCP UK

@bganon, I disagree with you on that point.

Surely the SNS is a much more likely option for former DS voters, because although the SNS is rather critical of Tadic, their opinions seem to be rather similar. Where they criticise Tadic on many issues, these turncoats are in favour of EU membership, yet are not publicly pro-Kosovo independence, as the LDP are and which is not at all a popular policy to follow. If the opinion polls are to be trusted, then the SNS seem to be the obvious alternative, where as the LDP are the same morons who moan and winge about EU and NATO membership, gay rights and other liberal and anti-Serb rhetoric. I believe and hope that the LDP will remain to be a party which is greatly laughed at, and supported only by pretentious and selfish people deluded by the so called EU paradise.

bganon

pre 12 godina

To those that think that Jovanovic is a minor politician without much support, beware. Voters who previously voted for DS will need to cast their votes somewhere as they are very unhappy with the government.

Jovanovic's LDP will have that powerful option of being the protest vote of the democratic block. People may not agree with all his policies but they know that something needs to change and when looking at other parties none are offering radical change. And all the other opposition parties are all competing for the same voters (centre right to right)

Do not be suprised if LDP get 10% in the elections. To achieve this Jovanovic would be better served by toning down some of his rhetoric.

I dont know what the hell 'European Potential' means, but it cant be something good at all when we look at so called modern European cities like London. London and Britain as a whole is a nation that completely lacks any tradtional culture of its own, rather one big load of different foreign cultures which do not mix and only keep to themselves. As for the English, they are either pretentious liberals who advocate this internationalism crap or they are hooded scumbags who roam the streets intimidating and terrorising good people. Is this the 'European potential' we want to happen in Serbia??? Any sane person can see that awful values like this can only worsen the social situation in Serbia and start to destroy Serbian culture. The EU is an evil institution which is on its way downhill, any Serbian person who still sees the EU as the way forward is highly deluded and needs to see the reality of whats going on, whether it be the disastrous economic implications in Greece or the awful social effects that are happening all over the EU, where nation states are loosing sovereignty, their nationality and their culture.

I urge all Serbs to reject the EU and to never listen to filthy traitors such as Jovanovic and Tadic, who although are not publicly allied, are behind the scenes in favour of the same policies to destroy Serbia slowly and painfully in the interests of western powers. Serbs rise up against these traitors, give them what they deserve and take back control of your country, Serbia's future depends on it.

It's true Kosovo is pratically not ours anymore, at least the part south of the Ibar. On the other hand the part north of the Ibar is still Serbian if you ask the locals there...

Give away Kosovo and Serbia will appear weak to it's internal and external enemies. Next the Bosniak, Hungarian and Bulgarian seperatists will start to ask why not us too? When you appear weak in these troubled and dangerous times, the vultures will come. Only weak people without brains want to exchange it's territory and selfrespect for a European Fata Morgana at this stage of the European sovereign debt and monetary crisis.

Also, if you don't respect yourself don't expect to get respect from others!

To show courage in the balkans is to stand out of the popular formula. There is nothig easier than say my people is right, we are honest, the others lie! Maybe Čedomir Jovanović is not right in every view, but he is honest. That's no comfort for K-Albanians though, since they have nevertheless failed. They have failed as a civil society, failed to build up a respected country, failed to show even a semblance of rule of law etc.

The only "reforms" needed is to get rid of Jovanović!
Serbia will show its full European potential by getting rid of this guy

B92 could also show a little more credibilty than reporting on an insignificant politician who called africans "cannibals" and has admitted to having meetings and connections with the Mafia who organized the assassination of Zoran Đinđić

This clown is nothing more than a well paid mouth piece for the US.
Pitty they couldnt afford to bribe someone with more credibility.

Can someone be kind enough to explain to me the definition of "European potential" that always seem to come out of the mouths of the EU and this guy? ...... is it some special quality that only Western Europeans inherently possess that the rest of mankind don't because they are subhumsns or savages who must be taught enlightenment by the West? When I look at the likes of London, Paris and Berlin ..... am I supposed to gasp in utter admiration at the beacons of this "European potential"? -- actually what I do see, notwithstanding all this "European potential" mumbo jumbo, are countries that previously colonized most of the world and discriminated against the indigeneous peoples there, countres that committed military aggression against other countries then and now ...... so what is this elusive "European potential"????? Please enlighten me. Thanks in advance.
