They should just let this 60:s aluminium plant go where it belongs, into bancrupcy.
Then Montenegro could START to live up to its hilarious comical slogan "eco-state" !

Why would an EU candidate and a soon to be EU candidate join this customs union when they're in the process of joining another?

Keep dreaming.

Simply because it would be incentive for established EU business to invest in a candidate country who uniquely has a free trade agreement for their products. Favourable trade status to countries that are not in debt to their eyeballs does seem like a dream for some.

Oh yeah? And what do Belgrade and Podgorica have to say about this? This is another example of Russia speaking for other countries. Remember when the Kremlin said that Belarus WILL recognise Abkhazia and South Ossetia??? I'm still waiting.

Looks like more good news. Russia now has access to Serbia via CG. Next is to get Ukraine and Romania into this free trade zone. Once the S400s are delivered, no more NATO in Serbia.

It seems that Serbia has definitively gone out from the EU path. I understand why serbs have changed of mind about the euro-atlantic integration, but it's very sad.
