But they have little manoever cause to be re-elected in 2018 Putin will have to return home these Russian Lands.
(rote, 11 October 2011 21:25)

Yeh and for Cameron to be re-elected in 2015 he has to return the home the British lands of India, Normandy, Ireland, Canada, Israel-Palestine, Cyprus, Malta, Australia, NZ, Pakistan, South Africa, USA, Egypt, Bangladesh, Caribbean Islands, Burma, Hong Kong, Nigeria and loads more of Africa ect. I even heard Sarkozy and Merkel have to return home French and German lands if they want to be re-elected.

And you thought Putin had it tough having to "return home" these so called Russian lands before 2018. Never going to happen. Russia wears big size shoes, but under them big shoes are small feet. Russia is trying to be something it's not and not going to be either... a superpower. If anything Russia will be smaller by 2018 because so many people want out of Russia.

Anyway good luck with that, apparently Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has to return the Ugandan lands of Nania, Never Never Land, the entire star wars universe and the Moon if he is to be re-elected.

You know very little of what is happening in this country. Unfortunately you are mistaken for this man serves to his master Rinat Ahmetov. And both of them like Yushenko fear that Russia will kiss them to death. But they have little manoever cause to be re-elected in 2018 Putin will have to return home these Russian Lands. Yanuk is a pro-Ukrainian President while Yushenko was a CIA one. The Ukrainian elites can do nothing with the common people which mostly back for Russia. In 25 days Nord Stream will put an end to the Ukrainian monopoly in gas transition. Next year the second line will be launched while South Stream will prove to be the last nail to the coffin of the Ukrainian nezalejnost. This is what Putin is working for while EU US and Yanukovich , Yushenko , Julia and the kind are fearing of.

Is Viktor Yanukovych aka the Kremlin's puppet hammering in the last nail of the coffin by having Yulia Tymoshenko prisoned as punishment for the Orange Revolution?

It is well known that Yulia Tymoshenko had no choice but sign this gas deal with Russia, as Russia was forcing the Ukraine to do so at Europe's expense.

The gas dispute is not the real reason as to why Yulia Tymoshenko has been imprisoned, it was just a means to an end.

Viktor Yanukovych is serving the Kremlin well.

- The Ukraine no longer recognises the Ukrainian Famine as genocide.
- The Ukraine has renewed the contract of the Russian Black Sea fleet.
- The Ukraine has ended their interest in NATO membership.

And now the Ukraine has locked up Yulia Tymoshenko for her role in the Orange Revolution. However the official reason is the Gas Dispute with Russia, even though Russia caused the dispute and drafted up the new gas deal knowing well that if one of the Kremlin's puppets came to power; they'd use this Gas Deal as a reason to lock up Tymoshenko even though Russia forced her to sign it. Basically Russia forced Tymoshenko to "abuse her powers" so that Europe could get Russian gas during winter 2009.

Viktor Yanukovych sure is serving Russia's *cough* Putin's interests well.

To Dean :

1/ Russia and Greece has been strategic partners for 1000 years since our first Orthodox Patriarchs were of Greek origin. When there was a threat of a war with Turkey we supplied them with the most effective S-300 antiaircraft missiles and thus neutralized the Turkish superiority in the air. While Greece as a NATO member never sold our technical secrets to the USA. So our brotherhood has nothing to do with Putin or someone else. Like in Serbia it exists in the parallel world with the current elites.

2/ I’m also disappointed with the Greek developments. Seems they are the prisoners of their imagination and believe they can spend more money than they earn. But it has nothing to do to Julia’s trial which can have many long lasting political and economical sequences not only for the Ukraine. It matters the new elections to come. Ahmetov as the real master of the state takes no pisoners of war. Also it has direct connection to the South Stream Ukraine is fighting against. Russia is depriving Ukraine of these vital incomes to twist their hands and thus return these Russian lands. Belorussia has already yielded and now it’s the Ukraine turn to move homeward. EU is striving hard to stop the inevitable.

Don't you think that ''I know almost everything'' attitude,Greeks have displayed during the last Century and half,is the source of your Failure?????????

Tymoshenko made her fortune between 1992-1998 during the privatization programme in Ukraine.Within that period she made some very profitable deals in energy fields with former Russian oligarchs. Some sources put her fortune up to $ 11 billion.

I don't have the attitude of"knowing everything" and neither do Greeks as you've failed to notice and I hardly ever post on more than two daily articles. This is due to lack of interest and knowledge.Unlike other posters I don't post for the sake of posting.

Your claim that "knowing all attitude" is the Greeks source of failure is just as laughable.Currently we're not looking great but still in a far better position than many other countries.

As to your question "should Greece side with Russia" the answer is that Greece doesn't have to side with any block or club of countries. We've always had friendly relations with Russia and its people, same religion and we'll continue to do so in the future.

BTW The article is about Tymoshenko.

Powers? What powers? Tymoshenko has always treated Ukraine as her own company. But what puzzles me is the fact that a woman who rose to money and power during the rein of Lazarenko as a result of her "looks"-the same Lazarenko who was convicted for $200 mil money laundering-managed to survive for so long by being on the upper echelons of Ukrainian politics and despite of all corruption scandals(she is reputed for being one of the richest individuals not only in Ukraine but in Europe).
