Dear Balkanbert! I didn´t denied that there are plenty of cased of misuse from both part. At least as the money concerns. The problem is that Kosovo Albanians could come much closer to their goal than the Serbian efforts. One day there will be enough reckognition to allow Kosovo to be real independent. Although there are huge differences, in therory, if we take the scenario of Rep Srpska, I am sure you might agree. In case the Serbs in Rep. Srpska would ask for independence and spend billions to get the reckognition while BiH Federation will spend much more to block it. The whole game is that why spending additional tax moneay of Serbs or Europeans for something the results is almost zero. Just to make some Serbian politicians heros of the school books in 100 year? Is that worthy? Nobody can afford today to play with unnecessary conferences or campaigns just to get some more voices on the next elections. This is my opinion. But I respect your opinion and you should know better what is more important.

There will be no sufficient number of recognitions for "Kosovo" to become a member of the UN and no chance for membership in the OSCE or EU as long as it is ruled by a rogue regime comprising of Mafia big shots and war criminals. These declarations are for internal consum,because even though Tadic want to get a solution for Kosovo problem,there is serbian Constitution that leave NO ROOM for compromise between serbs and albanians.
Unless serbs change their constitution there is NO possibility of compromise between sebs and albanians.
There were numerous international meetings over Kosovo - but the Serbian government chose to say nothing more substantive than "more than autonomy, less than independence".
They brought nothing substantive to the table and asked the Russians to block the Ahtissari plan in the Security Council. As a result, Kosovo declared its independence. Now, more than 3 years later, Micunovic is asking for an Ahtissari plan all over again. Except things have moved on since then and both NATO and the EU are now supporting the institutions of the government of Kosovo. Too late, Serbia just is not that important in the greater scheme of things
An international conference is a waste of time for the simple reason that neither side in willing to budge where it really matters. Kosovar Albanians want their own state. They wont budge. Serbia does not want to Kosovo to become a state. They wont budge. So this conference will be nothing more than an opportunity to visit the nice meeting halls, exchange pleasantries and maybe visit a foreign city. Other than that, it won't do anything else.
p.s. in terms of status, there really is nothing to talk about. Kosovo will NEVER and i repeat NEVER again be part of Serbia. All you internet warriors can do is moan about how unfair it all is (even though the loss of Kosovo is Serbia's own fault and no one else's)
While EU is burning and nobody knows what will happen with the economical crises, funny guys in Serbia would like to spend some years meeting each week, drink coffee, fly business, have their "conference" limusine etc. with our money. For how stupid these political fosiles consider the people in EU incl. Serbian taxpayers. How many billions Serbia spend only in the last 3 years just to "block" Kosovo reckognitions. Where is the results of this money spent.

No, the reason for the problem are the stupid nationalists on both sides who always think they are right, don't wanna compromise and who caused this whole trouble in the Balkans. The first one to mention is Milosevic, but the leaders of other countries like Tudjman, Thaci,... weren't any better .
a state with 2 million peoples, maybe we should revise that, as I never knew that Serbia had 52 states.
Southern Serbia, had huge migration in the late 1940's, and I would beg to differ if that did not occur. With the huge investment that the yugoslav people put into this region, including extra taxes ( yes, my mother can attest to this, she is still alive with all her organs), maybe we can come to a monetary agreement on this investment, based on current Western World accounting systems, and lets put this into order. Let us see what will happen , hump sup by the Albanians, who came across the border, and the capital investment by the Yugoslav government, those records do exist.
