15 negative responses (so far), yet no one can explain to me how the current Serbian government is "a quisling regime, imposed on 'us'".

Just because you've heard it repeated in various church basements in the US/Australia/the internet, doesn't make it true.

You are wrong dude. The people who say that most likely are Albanians who want to portray Serbia as being a non-democratic country...

Yep, especially for the Albanians in Kosovo who may have to deal with complications like Serbia in the EU

You really don’t know how democracy works. How many times has Tadic said to the Serbian people that Serbia would be in the EU within they next two or three years? Now it’s 2020 at the earliest.
(sj, 8 October 2011 14:24)

You are free to not vote for them in the next elections if you are dissatisfied.

Anything that George Soros promotes I’d stay away from. Western democracy is only for fools look at the US. How many times have political parties won office that do not have the names Republican or Democrat? When you find the answer you will see how affective western democracy really is.

You are free to go to and live in, say, the democratic China or Russia. Be careful however about writing in online forums against the government as you do here because you may find yourself in a... you know :)

Danilo

Well, Tadic making promises he can't keep isn't the same thing as "he was installed; this is a quisling regime".

Please explain this favourite statement of the Serbian diaspora

As for the US, yes, first-past-the-post isn't the best system. It's also not the system Serbia has.

If your parents feel that the SPS betrayed them, then they will punish them in the next election by not voting for them. That's how it works. easy.

This doesn't somehow translate into "quisling regime, imposed on us"

I was in Serbia recently and found that the people who want this change and re-engagement are young people and a section of the Serbian intelligenica who think that everything that flies is edible. The EU has nothing to offer Serbia on many levels starting from the fact that it was the EU that bombed the Serbs who were only defending their lands.
The EU is bankrupt as it announced a downgrading of certain banks in the UK and rest of Europe. The UK Government has announced that it will have to print more money to try and stabilize the UK banking system – you are aware what it means to print money?
Now Spain and Italy have been downgraded and this mess continues to grow. I do not live in Serbia and I am able to look at the situation as an outsider and I can tell all that wanted to listen – the EU is a grand illusion.
Personally I don’t care what a snail sniffing froggy tells Belgrade.

OK, So, you don't like the way the coalition was formed.

Understandable that you, as an American, wouldn't understand how this works. Rest assured, a coalition, like they make in all European parliaments is a normal part of their electoral process and not some kind of "installation".

Szemi said "Sir(or madame I am a bit confused which one must be used in case of a bigot homoextremist)."

My response:

I'm more of a man than you will ever be. Real mean don't support violence against peaceful protesters. And I'm man enough to allow everyone free speech rights because I can win an argument on Gay rights. The opponents of Gay rights in Serbia cannot win any argument on Gay rights, so they resort to violence and terroristic threats to prevent Gays from speaking publically.

Szemi said "Besides hysterically crying about rightfully banned shame parades it would be advisable if you followed what is happing in the world."

My response. I do follow what it is going on in the world. Argentina, Brazil, Colombia just legalized Gay Marriage. Gay marriage nationwide will be legal in the US within three years (full faith and credit clause). India now has Gay pride parades. So does Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Romania, and China. Even Singapore has them. Name one country that has a decent economy (without oil - which you don't have - and won't have even with shale oil) that prohibits public Gay speech. You can't.

Szemi said "EU within 2 decades will stand for Evaporated Utopia so in 2075 most probably we will celabrate the 50th anivarsary of break up of this artifical anti-european creature."

My response: The EU may or may not exist in 2 decades. But Serbia will not be a full part of European society and the European economy if you continue to behave like Belarus.

Szemi said "By that time anyway gay street circus will be a history all over europe and probabaly america."

My response: Gay Prides just get bigger and bigger and move into more countries. So does Gay acceptance and Gay visibility. You're welcome to try to operate in the 21st Century using 14th Century values. Its not going to be very successful for you though.

Szemi said "Either white christian people wake up and ban these provokative useless events and do their best to change current demographic trend or Europe becomes fully islamized and in that case you will see gays in the street only if they are publicly hung from a crane."

My response: I didn't realize that Christianity was all about violently hanging people who don't share your interpretation of the Koran - oops I mean the Serbian Orthodox Bible simply for living openly and honestly. You really aren't doing the 'cause' of whitedom (whatever that racist comment means)or Serbian Orthodoxy or Serbian demands to regain authority over areas with minorities with comments like that. How long have you been working for Patriarch Irinej?

With regards to your idiotic (and I mean profoundly idiotic) comments regarding demographics as a reason to stop Gay Pride Parades, do you really think that Pride Parades make people Gay? Does Rap Music make people Black? Do you really think that a solution to demographic issues is to presumably encourage Gay men to marry your daughter? Can I marry your daughter? Do you really think this is a viable solution?

Baby, you've got serious problems. Might I suggest that you stop advocating genocide against Gay people ('hanging all Gay people' that step out of line) before you do more damage to Serbia's reputation in the West. If I'm a homosexualist, then you are an advocate of genocide. How about this. I am a Gay man.

The current government was democratically elected in 2008.

What are you alleging, exactly, other than that you personally don't like them
(Danilo, 7 October 2011 11:33)

I will explain to u in a few short sentences why you are wrong. First of all the current government's "king maker" was the SPS. They're support was what tipped the scale and got the DS another 4 years. Here is why you are wrong about them being democratically elected. The SPS voters are Milosevic supporters. The DS overthrew and then arrested Milosevic which then led to his death. The voters, including my parents who voted for the SPS did so under the illusion the party was going to form a coalition with the DSS and the SRS.

So you're wrong, just take a L on that one and move on.

As for this article..I guess foreign leaders can make these kinds of statements and get away with it. Serbia WILL join the EU, as if its some kind of demand. The Europhiles have been able to be programmed to read that as good news and something positive developing in the region. We all know the EU is falling apart and that even if it is around in the next 5 years which is doubtful..at least one country in the union will oppose membership of more countries, so all of this is kind of stupid if you ask me.

And to the statement Serbia wants too "join Europe" LOL what the hell does that mean? I never understood this statement. Is Serbia not in the European continent? What a ridiculous statement, you have to join a bloc that opens the gates to immigration and leaves your entire domestic market vulnerable to multi national corporations as if Serbia is not vulnerable enough to that.

The biggest way Serbia could "join Europe" is the Schegen agreement. That is joining Europe because Serbs can travel there without visa's. We now have that so I don't see why other ways of "joining Europe" are necessary to be somehow loved and be apart of the whole European experiences of black economies, ridiculous amounts of debt and gay parades every week...no thanks, ne hvala.

"Deadlines depend primarily on your country's capacity to fulfill the criteria every candidate country needs to fulfill in order to be ready to face the accession challenges," he stressed.

According to him, those are legal, economic and political norms that need to be fully implemented and it is a long but necessary process."

Grade-A french horse manure. Serbia's neighbours get a free pass despite their disgusting behaviour and previously essential reforms now become optional. Except for Serbia. Croatzia has unequivocal backing from Germany and is already signaling that they will not investigate their own war criminals etc.. Bulgaria is hopeless, Romania finally making an effort. Every single EU rule can be, and has been bent.

Sure, Serbs want to 'join Europe', that is not the question. It is at what price? There are always those Serbs who look down on other serbs depending on where they live and are happy to sell out the remaining Kosovo Serbs. Not hard to find because the sell outs have easy access to the media. It's like saying Paris is representative of France, or London of the UK, or Berlin of Germany.

Speaking of tourists, I saw a blue 'Lasta' tourist bus with belgrade plates go past. I wonder if they will be disappointed with Brussels, particularly the constant smell of urine in Bourse underground tram stop in the centre. Welcome to Brussels, where you may urinate at will, even on place Luxembourg in front of the EP!

"quisling regime, imposed on us"

The current government was democratically elected in 2008.

What are you alleging, exactly, other than that you personally don't like them

What if the Serbs reject your union and bankrupt market dictatorship, as they clearly do in overwhelming numbers and overthrow your "one way only" quisling regime, imposed on us, in popular uprisings?

What then? Sanctions and no-fly zones? Bomb us into submission again? If that is the case Napoleon, you don´t have to start exterminate "our" media again, they are already on your side and will publish whatever material from the €U propaganda ministry you wish and the domestic infrastructure? Well you really did a thorough job last time and there is not much left so i guess you have to do what you cowards do best kill our citizens..

I've just come back from Serbia where I see a population eager for change and re-engagement with the rest of Europe. I have Serbs with me in the UK at the moment visiting all the tourist sites. But most important of all they are meeting up with ordinary people here in London and elsewhere. Its important for me that they understand that Serbia is part of Europe and that people here welcome them. I don't know where you are Winston, but I doubt you are in Europe or Serbia for that matter.

Ari,

Let me make a better answer :)

If your parents feel that the SPS betrayed them, then they will punish them in the next election by not voting for them. That's how it works. easy.

This doesn't somehow translate into "quisling regime, imposed on us"

Danilo

""king maker" was the SPS"

OK, So, you don't like the way the coalition was formed.

Understandable that you, as an American, wouldn't understand how this works. Rest assured, a coalition, like they make in all European parliaments is a normal part of their electoral process and not some kind of "installation".

Thanks for explaining that you don't understand electoral process except, maybe, in your neck of the woods (ie. not Serbia)

Danilo

pre 12 godina

Well, Tadic making promises he can't keep isn't the same thing as "he was installed; this is a quisling regime".

Please explain this favourite statement of the Serbian diaspora

As for the US, yes, first-past-the-post isn't the best system. It's also not the system Serbia has.

15 negative responses (so far), yet no one can explain to me how the current Serbian government is "a quisling regime, imposed on 'us'".

Just because you've heard it repeated in various church basements in the US/Australia/the internet, doesn't make it true.

Serbia will become a full fledged member of the EU in 2075. Thats when the Mayor Jagodina says that there will be a Gay Pride Parade in Serbia.

Serbia is already in Europe. However, it doesn't mean we have to join this union of hypocrites. I live in Sweden and trust me its not all that. Uncontrolled immigration, bandits coming from all over the world to steal and murder. To me the cons outnumber the pros of joining.

"Leonetti stressed that the issues regarding a date for the beginning of the accession negotiations were less important than quality of the accession process.

Sir(or madame I am a bit confused which one must be used in case of a bigot homoextremist).Besides hysterically crying about rightfully banned shame parades it would be advisable if you followed what is happing in the world.EU within 2 decades will stand for Evaporated Utopia so in 2075 most probably we will celabrate the 50th anivarsary of break up of this artifical anti-european creature.By that time anyway gay street circus will be a history all over europe and probabaly america.Either white christian people wake up and ban these provokative useless events and do their best to change current demographic trend or Europe becomes fully islamized and in that case you will see gays in the street only if they are publicly hung from a crane.

You really don’t know how democracy works. How many times has Tadic said to the Serbian people that Serbia would be in the EU within they next two or three years? Now it’s 2020 at the earliest.
Anything that George Soros promotes I’d stay away from. Western democracy is only for fools look at the US. How many times have political parties won office that do not have the names Republican or Democrat? When you find the answer you will see how affective western democracy really is.
