This is a tragedy of the things that could have been avoided if not for men blinded by nationalism and religious delusion. Croatia's shame is part of her history.

Croatia was first given the status of the state during Hitler (NDH). Before that did not exist in history as a state. In the second Yugoslavia, made a formal administrative boundaries are gradually's constitution in mid 70's became the state (who signed it?. As for the genocide, there are experts using three phases: 1)the slain 30%, 2) displace 30% and 3)to be Catholic 30% and today how many Serbs may declare that they are the Serbs Catolic (Last name end with ic) none. Today, in Bosnia continuing the same policy of cleansing worse than Hitler.

"The truth is usually seen and rarely heard" - By removing this commemoration, Croats are trying to hide the truth. Probably because, as Nietzsche puts it, "It is easier to cope with a bad conscience than with a bad reputation".

Croats have never been brave on their own and only do things if they have the backing of a master. I also have to double the number of countries that seem to like Croatia: Austria and Albania.

Hello Bam Bam! No compassion for the murder of innocent Serbs in Croatia during WW2 or 1990's or now! You are still not happy! Why? there are no more serbs in croatia! You murdered, burnt, raped and tortured innocent orthodox christians for past 60 years. We are out of your country now, and you still point fingers at the serbs. Virtually half a million serbian people had to flee Croatia, so not to surcome to the same fate as 700 thousand Jews, roma and serbs that were slaughtered during WW2 in Jasenovac concentration camp!

we always have Croatian singers come to Belgrade and perform, but how many Serbian singers perform in Zagreb or Split? What about if you drive a car and they see your number plate "BG" in one of these cities? I'd like to see how long your car windows stay in one piece or your tyres inflated.

Croatian fascism is directly proportionate to Jadranka Kosor's rule in parliament; the longer she stays the higher it gets.

The double standards of the EU never surpises me these days, I cannot imagine how huge the international condemnation would be if Serbia ever did such a thing.

It seems alright that the Croats can rub 5th of August in the faces of the Serbs, which for the Serbs is in fact a day of mourning. It makes me laugh how the Croats still keep up the lie that 'oluja' was a brave combat victory, and that they still teach their children this. Yet again an ethnic cleansing which the West knew of and turned a blind eye to.

I will be sure to light a candle next to the monument when I am next in the Knin area. May all those who died in the croat ethnic cleansing of oluja on the 5th August 1995 rest in peace.

The best things for the Serbs in Croatia is to pack up and move into BiH and hold as many commemerations to the Serbian victims on Bosnian soil. Why is it that the Serbs in Croatia keep persisting with this thing about reconciliation when the Croats don't want you in their newly created and accepted E.U nation of Croatia.

How is the status of homosexual people in "Kosova" and Albania? When will there be a gay pride parade in Pristina or Tirana? I guess like in many Muslim-dominated places homosexuality is not a problem because it does not exist, right? If true Muslims have found away around the 3-5% of the people who identify themselves as homosexual. How? Most likely intimidation so people keep quiet. In many European countries homosexuals are deliberately targeted by young male Muslims and I guess they have learned that from an intolerant part of their religion. If a homosexual Albanian visitor reads this please be brave enough to tell us what it is like to be a homosexual in "Kosova" or Albania. So Agim, do not come here to lecture me or others.

Karl,

The reason why I mentioned the big bird in Berlin or in Washington DC is because Germany and the US are the only countries who seem to like Croatia and do not mind its dark past, and they will do anything, directly or indirectly, to agitate Serbia, a country that Germany likes less than Poland or Russia, even though the Serbs have never attacked or occupied Germany.

What I said was my family doesn't buy Croatian products. We don't buy Albanian products either because we do not need any spare organs nor do we need any heroin.

What exactly is bad about that? Its a fact that Kosovo Albanians 2 biggest exports to the world are heroin and Serbian organs.

There could be an article about dog catchers on strike in Belgrade and somehow the U.S. or Germany would be blamed for it. Everything always seems to be the fault of someone else. Almost every article no matter what the content someone comments and complains about either NATO,U.S. or Germany. You are really digging deep to come up with big birds in D.C. or Berlin causing this.

So long as the memorial wasnt espousing any greater serbian propaganda , and was a true , apolitcal , monument to genuine innocents , I can't see what the problem is.

Perhaps both sides could come together and agree on neutral termanology. Something that respects the deaths of innocent (and all too often good , decent people on all sides) without pionting the finger of blame or self victimisation.

I can see the same reasons here, too: Croatian extremists don't want to reminded that their 'heroes' killed civilians, too. Just like Serbian extremists (to call them 'conservative' is as ridiculous as calling Islamists 'religous') don't want to be remidned that there are gay people in their society, too. In other words: as far as Croatia is concerned these people never died and if they did the cause of their dead cannot be known and the victims are not allowed to find peace because they are Serbs. I think that some big bird in Berlin or Washington DC whispered this into Croatia’s eager ear to make a statement about the cancellation of the parade in Belgrade and to behave in a way that would certainly provoke a Serbian response. The border between state and church property must run very odd. I would advise the church to relocate the monument to a location that is 100% church property and to let the Croats keep on living in their world without shame and history denial.

If the local church can, they should relocate the monument to a spot of land which they are in full control of, bypassing this little hoo-ha about the state owning "two-thirds of the land on which the monument lies". If they're then ordered to remove the monument off their PRIVATE PROPERTY, then I think that says a lot more about the authorities then this action does.

Thanks for editing my post b92.

What I said was my family doesn't buy Croatian products. We don't buy Albanian products either because we do not need any spare organs nor do we need any heroin.

What exactly is bad about that? Its a fact that Kosovo Albanians 2 biggest exports to the world are heroin and Serbian organs.

This is fact.

True German values are now shown in Croatia..
Since its now 20 years ago, I think its time for Croatia to make a new version off the hit song "Danke Deutchland!"

Over 200 Croatian companies operate in Serbia while less than a dozen serb owned companies are allowed to function in Croatia.
(Ravna Gora, 2 October 2011 22:15) Not true they can set up in Croatia their is no hindrance just most Serbian businesses are not interested. They are more interested sending raw materials to Croatia for fast money. Instead of setting up value added company's here and all the financial outlay time and the expenses of setting-up. Ravna Gora you should not hang around their with these dudes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK3O79eNb-8&feature=related .

The Croats don't take responsibility for any crimes since WWII.
Hasn't the world done well, setting up little fascist, mujahedin and maffia states throughout the Balkans? That must be a recipe for peace!

croats will always live in fear of defeat-oluja was nothing but ethnic cleansing helped by US and Nato..no glory there, but for people without history that is the best they ever had..
We march ahead by not forgetting our dead and letting ustasha`s know that we will never forget..

we always have Croatian singers come to Belgrade and perform, but how many Serbian singers perform in Zagreb or Split? What about if you drive a car and they see your number plate "BG" in one of these cities? I'd like to see how long your car windows stay in one piece or your tyres inflated.

Croatian fascism is directly proportionate to Jadranka Kosor's rule in parliament; the longer she stays the higher it gets.

Croats have never been brave on their own and only do things if they have the backing of a master. I also have to double the number of countries that seem to like Croatia: Austria and Albania.

Here another example of croatian racism.

We will see how croats will behave from 2013 when they join the EU and many new immigrants come to settle in Croatia....

Its not like the Serbs have not destroyed also in 30% Croatia in the last war monuments churches historic places trying to get rid of all and any trace of Croatians in their own country.

"The truth is usually seen and rarely heard" - By removing this commemoration, Croats are trying to hide the truth. Probably because, as Nietzsche puts it, "It is easier to cope with a bad conscience than with a bad reputation".

May all those who died in the croat ethnic cleansing of oluja on the 5th August 1995 rest in peace.

where are all those Yankees and EUers whose hobby is to preach to others about human right to freedom of expression? Suddenly lost their tongues and became the proverbial ostriches with their heads resolutely stuck inside the sand? Talk about hypocrisy and double standards!

I guess it ok to ban a commemoration of victimes killed by Croats but its not ok to ban a gay parade in Belgrade. Hey Lenard! Where the heck are you hiding when we need your expert opinion?

This is a tragedy of the things that could have been avoided if not for men blinded by nationalism and religious delusion. Croatia's shame is part of her history.

"The world sees how you treat people of different sexual preferences!
It seems to me that only Serbs are right what ever they do, but the rest of the world is wrong, right mate?
(Agim Kelmendi, 2 October 2011 16:15)"
