Build those baricades even higher. K-Serbs are isolating themselves from Serbia and from Kosovo. Have fun building your 50.000 inhabitants mini-haven for cast outs.

Why is it such a big drama around this. That KFOR shot. Serbs shoot in the air and provoke the Albanians at the Ibar bridge every night. The Albanians could easily encircle the northern Mitrovica. Albanians can also get up to the apartments, which overlooks northern Mitrovica and have a 50 caliber sniper and provoke the Serbs.
(BT, 3 October 2011 10:02)

Shooting every night??? Patently false.

High ground? The Serbs control the high ground which overlooks all of Mitrovica - from Brdjani and Zvecan.

Let's not be silly.

But when the Serbs are making use of their right to demonstrate the KFOR-soldiers are shooting with automatic weapons.
(dht, 2 October 2011 13:54)

Right to protest? I'm confused. I thought that protests were banned for unpopular minorities. Last time I checked Serbs are a minority in Kosovo. So are LGBT Serbs within Serbia.

I'd prefer that everyone be able to protest peacefully, but I cannot understand how Serbs can ban their own minorities from protesting on the streets while demanding those same rights to their minority group in other areas.

My goodness! It almost looks as if a de facto border has appeared in this town Mitrovica in the last three minutes or so...

I was in Kosovo this summer. None of the Albanians I met showed any interest for North Kosovo, no patriotic speech, nothing. Perhaps, at some point in the future, the two sides will quietly agree to make this the border between the two sides. And the EU can pay to protect the monasteries for the next 95,000 years.

But don't forget to include Russia in negotiations. They don't like to be left out, it makes them feel inferior compared to the West. They would be most unhappy to lose this conflict between Serbs and Albanians.

There were no KFOR-soldiers shooting at the mobsters when the K-albanian mob expelled Serbs, burnt Serbian homes and churches and, in some cases, killed Serbs.
(dht, 2 October 2011 13:54)

Oh yeah, they were. Where necessary, they fired real bullets and killed and injured Albanian criminals who attempted to attack Serbs and churches in many places across Kosovo. Many Serb lives were saved by KFOR from Albanian criminals that attempted to attack them. More than 100 Albanian criminals have been convicted since then for those criminal events in March 2004.

But when the Serbs are making use of their right to demonstrate the KFOR-soldiers are shooting with automatic weapons.
(dht, 2 October 2011 13:54)

Right to demonstrate does not include the right to attack security personel mandated by the UN Security Council. In any case KFOR was much more restrained with Serbs than with the Albanians in 2004. KFOR should treat Serbs the same way it treated the Albanians.

As for your claim of "automatic weapons", there are only two explanations I can give: (i) no Serbs were killed because KFOR did not shoot with automatic weapons; or (ii) no Serbs were killed because KFOR soldiers are so poorly trained that they were not able to kill anybody from a crowd in a very close distance even when shooting with automatic weapons.

"For the first time since the breakout of crisis on Jarinje on the occasion of deployment of Kosovo customs officers and police on the administrative line, a barricade was put up outside of Kosovo, on the access road from central Serbia"

So, now, even some people in Serbia want to cutt off N. Kosovo Serbs from Serbia (in addition to the barricades on Kosovo's side). I don't understand why Serbs are trying to cutt off N. Kosovo Serbs from Serbia ?!

Pls say it ain"t so!!!

We can sit by our computers and argue all day long, but we sure are not helping the cause.

Why can't we all get along??!!!

I understand the hatred and the reasoning behind it; both sides have been suffering and will continue to suffer if this continues. Lets for a moment try to leave the past behind us, and I do know that for some of us will not be easy, as people have lost their family members due to this ill mentality.

We all are aware that there were killings, burnings of houses, rapes, demolitions of mosks and churches, but there has to come a time when we all have to learn to live together, as neither side is going anywhere.

Serbs will remain where they are, and no one is insisting that they leave (handfull of extreemists excluded), and Albanians are not going anywhere either.

So stop throwing fuel to the existing fire and lets try to find a resolution to this problem.

I have seen live footage when American troops walked toward Serbian border post with weapons pointed towards them.
(Agim Kelmendi, 2 October 2011 14:48)

The Serbian side of the boundary is several kilometers from the Kosovo checkpoint. No KFOR soldiers got within 3 km of that because all the incidents are at Jarinje. Had you actually ever been there you would know this.

Continue standing up for your rights! The "law and order" the Albanians are promising you resulted in two Serbs being shot in Djakovica with one being killed.

It needs more than barricades, it needs a democratic referendum in the Northern part of KiM:

" Whether "Kosova" is an independent state, or not, the territory of the Northern part of Kosovo neither belongs to "Kosova" nor have the "authorities" of "Kosova" any right or legitimacy to govern such territory and the people living therein. "

Agim Kelmendi

For the first time since the breakout of crisis on Jarinje on the occasion of deployment of Kosovo customs officers and police on the administrative line, a barricade was put up outside of Kosovo, on the access road from central Serbia, thus completely surrounding Jarinje, just like in the case of Brnjak earlier on.

This was done few days ago, when US soldiers entered Serbian territory and the German bulldozer closed the alternate road that was open by Serbs. I am sure this article is talking about that one.I have seen live footage when American troops walked toward Serbian border post with weapons pointed towards them.
