freedom of speach (the greatest threat to this right is from the liberal left including the homosexual community which wants to silence and intimidate all those that question thier agenda)
(Ravna Gora, 3 October 2011 01:09)

So Serbian Orthodoxers cannot protest (or have a public procession) publically on the streets of Belgrade? Your government just banned Gay Serbians from any public speech in Belgrade. And you have the NERVE to say that Serbian Orthodoxy is being repressed by liberals? Please.

Furthermore, its obvious that all of those Serbian equality ministries are toothless as they cannot (or will not) protect 100 Gay people walking with Gay banners down the streets of your capital. I'd say that perhaps Serbia could pass more laws protecting Gay people, but its a pointless exercise because Serbia is unable to protect the most basic protections of freedom of speech, association, petition, protest, assembly, and association.

Serbian Orthodoxy apparently cannot win any argument on Gay rights because they oppose Gay Serbs being able to speak in public. The fact that Serbian right wingers are using threats to ban Gay speech proves that they cannot win any argument on gay rights, without resorting to violence.

Serbia isn't even ready to be considered for consideration. We'll see that in a few weeks when Serbia get's it's report from the EC.

here is a scientific study from a few years ago which the establishment in academia have covered up as if its made of plutonium. In order for the fairy tale world of neo-liberal europe to succeed in setting up thier new world order studies like this and other similiar ones must be buried.

scientists in floridas everglades began to notice that certain bird species were displaying symptoms of homosexual behaviour at a very high level. After a prolonged period of examination the scientists came to a conclusion. these particular birds were feeding on species of fish which contained high levels of mercury. the mercury caused mutations in the birds which resulted in overt homosexual behaviour. It is believed that in addition to mercury, other agents may also result in the ABNORMAL MUTATIONS which results in homosexual behaviour.

This can be used against or in favour of the homosexuall community-but because the establishment has so readily covered this and other related studies so fervently, it is believed that it will hinder the homosexual community in thier well organized and world wide move to have homosexuality branded as normal and even good. science may indicate that its not only not normal but that like any disease it can hardly be labled as good.

Tolerance yes
acceptance no
freedom of speach (the greatest threat to this right is from the liberal left including the homosexual community which wants to silence and intimidate all those that question thier agenda)

Shouldn't the job of the minister on the rights of minorities protect or at least pretend to protect those minorities? Why is this minister speaking like Dacic? I would expect Dacic to say the words this person is saying "fear for public order, didn't capitulate, protection of property, we can defend with tanks but who thinks it would be wise". And I would expect this minister to speak about minorities, something like "we are sorry, considerations of the interior ministry prevailed this year over your rights. My duties and those of Dacic conflicted and in the end the position of Dacic was adopted. But we will reform and do a better job next year and blah blah blah..". Why is the minister of minority rights speaking like a minister of interior?

-The minister noted that the government’s decision to ban all public gatherings was exactly what any government would do. He added that it was a separate issue whether we had problems with differences, mutual understanding and respect. According to Marković, human rights in Serbia are on a good level, which does not mean that they should not be improved. He added that minority rights were also at a high level.--

if this is the human rights minister, then you get a glimpse of how bad the problems there are. the issue is not just govt "capitulation" to the far right wing, but active collusion with it. where has this guy been for, say, the last decade? not to mention the last few weeks?

at the very least, dacic needs to be canned. and that's just for starters. the police "union" needs a tad reforming, to say the least.

anyway, the trouble goes all the way to the "top," excuse the expression. and of course there is always the patriarch, to make a bad situation worse.

and then yr lovely media... no comment, for obvious reasons, but: what you see is what you get (and deserve, if you allow it.)

Serbian human rights deputy resigned, mainly because the Ministry "had no strategic plan and that all the activities were carried out without a longterm vision, and with no real desire to improve the position of Serbian citizens." so this is Oct, and nothing has improved. same old same old.

I do agree with the earlier posting: belgd regime needs to be taken to (appropriate) court in europe, in this case for discrimination against its LGBT population. You have to send a strong message to them or they will continue to bully you, keep you down, and of course do similar with other minorities...

This is hypocrisy on the highest level. The rights of Gay Serbians to protest, assemble, associate, petition, and express themselves on the streets of their national capital has been banned. Presumably indefinately.

And Obradovic is still not in prison. How is this possible after he was sentenced to prison for 2 years after last year's riots. When is he going to jail?

Where are the arrests of right wing extremists? Seriously, if their threats of violence are serious enough to ban all human rights for minorities then where are the arrests and jailings of those committing extremism?

Where are the openly Gay male police officers in Serbia?

Where are the openly Gay male prosecutors and judges in Serbia?

Serbia REFUSES to protect minorities and allow violence to profit.

The state capitulated. The could not, or rather would not ensure the most basic rights of the citizens enschrined under the Constitution. Moreover, the government refuses to describe the organisations who issue death threats and plot violent action for what they are: terrorists After the 2010 Pride March it follows that if Serbia were on a European path there would have been another Pride march in 2011, this time with a wider geographic focus and the hooligans firmly under control. Instead there is no march. This is regression. The same people who burn embassies, the Democratic Party headquarters, sack McDonalds, sport shops and riot in favour of indicted war criminals such as Radovan Karadzic are the same people threatening minorities such as LGBT. They are also traveling down to Northern Kosovo who try and instigate riots there. During the time of Milosevic, these people were armed and given licence to rape, pillage and kill in Bosnia. While they are not directed by Serbian state security any longer, the government, rather than taking firm action - as Djndjic would have done - allows themselves to be intimidated. This does not look and having the minister for human rights and minorities defend the government's position just shows that this ministry has moved backwards since the days of Marko Karadzic working there. Poor democratic Serbia, badly served by gutless politicians.

Not sure why you mention Croatian or Albanian websites. Since I have no connection to either places or ethnicity, I'm not sure why I would do that.

I come here because I spent significant time in Belgrade and this is my therapy.

Plus, I like to point out the obvious on public forums.

Sorry if someone pointing out the obvious causes you pain. Maybe you should have someone have a look at that.

Danilo, it amazes me how much time you spend on this website & posting comments regarding Serbian affairs.

I do not waste one second of my time to trolling Albanian/Croatian websites to disparage whatever I can.

I suggest you stop spreading the hate around the world and do everyone a favour, just leave us alone.

That's an interesting point of view. Anyway, the extremists groups and hooligans which threatened with violence are surely satisfied that they reached their goal - though they might be a bit unhappy that they are not allowed to riot this weekend and have to wait until the next international soccer match (which this minister probably won't ban)
