Tadic needs to resign. If he does not he will be forever removed from serbian politics after the approaching elections. Towards the people of serbia he behaves like the heavy handed tito-towards the enemies of serbia, he plays the role of Gandhi. Tadic has many faces and not one of them is good for serbs. Tadic and his docile and servile manner towards albanians in kosovo and thier biggest benefactors in Washington invites aggression to be commited against the serbian people in the occupied serbian province of kosovo. temporarily occupied I might add.

First, to the anti-Gay person claiming that the Freedom of expression, protest, petition, assembly parade (aka Gay Pride Parade) was held on a Sunday to antagonize the anti-Gay Serbian Orthodox Church, I'd say that I seriously doubt that the result would have been any different had the Gay Serbians demanded their basic human rights on a Saturday. Besides Saturday is usually more disruptive for traffic.

I wonder if anyone will be going to jail for significant time for violating this order? Given that Obradovic is still out of jail and has never been jailed for his convicted part in the violent riots last year, that we won't see any real action by Serbia's police on this.

Remember its only Gays that are denied basic freedoms in Serbia.

It would be funny to see gays or orthodox radicals set up barricades in belgrade and see serbian police reaction....

I loved this comment. While I disagree with the pride Parades, not the message behind them. I do think that as much as people have a right to live without oppression for their sexual preference, I also believe people who feel it is ofensive should not have to have it rubbed in their faces.
However, in view of the comments here and expressed by the govt, it is ironic that they can defend the actions in Northern Kosovo as peaceful demonstrations that are within their rights, and then turn around and ban the parade and any gatherings in Serbia.
They would not have looked near as hypocritical if they would have just said they found the gay pride parade offensive to the Serbian people and it would not be allowed.
To say no public gatherings or protests in Serbia but we will go to the UN to defend them in Kosovo can never be justified.

@Leo: How is a pride parade insulting? I thought the purpose of it was to highlight the difficult situation of a particular minority, not to "insult the Serb people", nor to mock the church? And how many people in Belgrade observe Sundays as the "holy" day anyway? Do you?

The "Pride Parade" deliberately chose a Sunday to insult the Serb people and and mock the Church. So much for tolerance of other's holy observances. As they do at every "pride parade" the paraders(many EU officials and meddling foreigners) would have "proudly" flaunted and waved the banner of the EU on the very day Serbs are murdered, wounded, arrested and dispossessed in Kosovo by the EU and NATO. Thank God this disgraceful event has been canceled....for everyone's sake.
