This whole debate is about PRIDE. It's a joke.

There are REAL/SERIOUS matters going on and everyone has their knickers in a knot because a PRIDE parade was banned.

We are losing our countrymen down in KiM, we should not be giving any time or energy to any westerners telling us that we are not doing the right thing concerning the pride of the gays.

Zivela Srbija!

'I remember when my Serbian girlfriend some 20 years ago told me that there are no gays, lesbians nor anorectic persons in Serbia, because Serbian nation is a healthy nation...' Ollie.

So you judge the mindset of an entire nation based on the bigotry of one individual?

I hope you're not a scientist working on a vital project!!

Is the Serbian government admitting defeat by banning the gay pride march? Serbian ultranationalists have won and demonstrated that violence and intimidation works; they used violence last year and this year suceeded in getting a ban on the gay parade.Holding a gay pride march is not a requirement for becoming a member of the European Union, but a democratic state should always protect the rights of its minority groups.

--Đukić-Dejanović does not believe that organization of the Pride Parade was set as a condition for other countries on their EU paths either, and the ban regarding the gathering should not affect the country's prospects for obtaining the EU candidate status. She said that she did not expect to see the EU make such a move. The parliament speaker added that she had planned to attend the Pride Parade.--

I love this lady! she completely pushed the blgd regime's lies, i mean line about "for the public safety, bla bla bla" -- then insists that they will be given an eu status (how? why??) and then adds, oh, yeah, i would've attended the march. Please! woulda shoulda coulda... if you were interested in supporting human rights, you had yr chance to speak up, against yr not-so-highly esteemed colleagues. which you did not. so pls spare us the "liberal" afterthought.

if today's serbia gains candidacy, the eurocrats are not just ethically challenged, they are fully mad as hatters.

but we shall see.

Danilo.

You're right.

Serbia openly declared that it isn't capable guarantee human rights to its citizens. Who sees this a minor fact, is a fool like Đukić-Dejanović. The right to march on Pride Parade isn't an isolated question on the way to democratic citizen state and to the EU candidate status. It's one item in the basket, together with other similar items. If violent nationalistic fascistic forces announce to attack teachers labour union march, Serbia will ban the march.

I remember when my Serbian girlfriend some 20 years ago told me that there are no gays, lesbians nor anorectic persons in Serbia, because Serbian nation is a healthy nation... So in this respect I understand the mindset of a average Serb. But I neither agree with it nor accept it.

No Serbia has not fulfilled the conditions for EU membership or even candidacy, there will be a whole load of new conditions especially after having cancelled the shame parade.

Serbia needs to get a grip and forget its crazy ambition of joining the crumbling EU. Why on earth would Serbia want to be dictated to be Brussells??? This sort of madness would only be supported by people like Danilo, who perhaps dont know or even turn a blind eye to the destructive reality that the EU would mean for Serbia.

Yes, the EU will take note that Serbia does on occasion ban public gatherings as every...single...EU member does. Unlike the EU, Serbia does not yet ban and persecute its Church. The "civilized" EU is hopelessly bankrupt, unable to protect its borders, overwhelmed by illegal immigration that have made cities like London into hellholes and a clueless idiot for jihad in the Balkans (never mind North Africa!). I laugh at any fool that thinks the declining West is somehow a living civilization. If the growth of homosexuality is the test for a" civilization", I'm glad Serbia failed.

LOL.

Let me get this straight. The Serbian government official is telling Serb what Brussels will have to think about the fact that Serbia is unable to allow a minority of 500 marching 1 block because there would be violence.

Dream on, lady. The civilized world takes a dim view on both this and the fact that you have neither the political will nor effective security apparatus to secure a walk in the park.

NB: It's Europe that decides it's stand towards Serbia not Serbia.
