OMG!! Religion!!! What a farce....organized confusion at its best.

Without religion, we'd have good people doing good things, and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Why is this parade necessary? If you are gay then you are gay. Why parade about it? I'm heterosexual. You don't see me dress up in a leather dress with an earring hanging from my ding dong and walking down the street shouting out loud that I'm heterosexual. The gay community, in Serbia and elswerer, only want these parades to get on ordinary peoples nerves. Ban them, now and forever.
(MikeC, 1 October 2011 08:56)

and you are still wondering why you lost Kosovo?

Democracy is rule by the majority. The quality of democracy is measured by how its majority threats its minorities.

Actually this statement is counterproductive in a time when people are feeling increasingly alienated by organised religion and church attendance is down.

Many feel that the church doesn't in any way reflect the society we now live in and thus no longer identify with it. So statements like these only accelerate the downfall of the church.

Should a ban on all parades include religious processions?

Bob, that depends, to ban religious processions according to the government, all one needs to do is to get together enough thugs to threaten them and the procession will be cancelled.

Still, maybe its not such a bad statement, Lenard agrees with it!

Marching around in silly clothes on the basis of some invented belief system is as unjustified as any other form of parade. I would not seek to ban the church and I do respect that people have faith for reasons that they consider good. However, religions cannot guarantee the existence of God (that's why they require you to have 'faith') and I personally think religion is a self deception and therefore a 'shame' against reason.

Dressing up in silly clothes and parading around is a human activity based on personal internally held beliefs.

Should a ban on all parades include religious processions?

It is the patriarch´s right to speak the truth, to remind us of good Christian values, the love of the family and God. Especially in times of constant attack´s from "the other side" in a country occupied by foreign media conglomerates, a western unelected quisling regime and it´s dictator desperately trying to impose these foreign ego-maniac life styles upon us.

Lead on Patriarch, speak these ancient truths and let them be heard.

--“Our city and our public are this year being shaken by the issue of holding of so-called ‘shame parade’. I would with much justification call this plague ‘shame parade’, which drags human dignity through mud and steps on the holiness of life and family,” the patriarch said in a statement.--

I'm so sorry for offending you, patriarch.

What a ridiculous comment! Very compassionate stance of someone who is supposed to represent God and nonjudgment isn't it? It is sad that Serbia still has so far to go . Also, if Belgrade can't manage and keep order for a parade, then I don't think they are ready to enter into any version of the modern world that I know and understand. Pretty inept if that's the case. In the US, all of these people would be fired if they can't or refuse to do their job effectively.

Religious bigotery obviously exist in Serbia as well as the rest of the Balkans.I would hope that freedom and liberty also exist. The gay pride parade is a good example of freedom from religion.
If your government and people wish to join Europe show your basic humanity and go out of your way to support gay rights as it is the only civilized thing to do.
Throw off the shackles of these religious fools!

with love for Serbia and Serbian people, with an orthodox heart - and mind - I for one reject this patriarch's incendiary and stupid comments - as fatuous as they are unjust - Patriarch Pavle would never stoop so low and allow such intolerant remarks pass for holy tradition - Irinje has transgressed his mandate, position and authenticity - this is pure hate speech aimed at nationalist traitors and stooges.

Patriarch Irinej thinking now is the Serbian Orthodox clergy to have the parade so the Serb people can pay homage to them instead and more often the better. Definition of HOMAGE

2
a : expression of high regard : respect —often used with pay b : something that shows respect or attests to the worth or influence of another.

Wow, talk about being hypocritical. I am Serbian Eastern Orthodox and right now feel ashamed that my religion is not a religion of tolerance and love for ALL. Good luck explaining yourself Vladika when you go to meet your maker!

Danilo; I would consider your insults very carefully if I were you chum. Particularly when hiding behind an anonymous keyboard. Some of the hardest men in the world wear 'friggin dresses.'
