Serbs don't need or want to be in the EU. Kosovo is far more important issue then EU and the outrages gay pride event. Majority rules, Gays are in the minority.

Good point, Tom.

I almost forget what it's like to live in a country where the only police needed at the gay parade are gay police marching in it.

Surely, it should be the "thugs", who have for weeks been saying there will be war in the streets of Belgrade on Sunday, should be paying for the equipment needed by the police. I have not, as yet, heard the gay community calling for violence. So the assorted thugs don't want to see a gay parade in Belgrade. So they should stay away and ignore it. If they did that, the police would only need a handful of officers. The Belgrade thugs only want a fight - and they are being encouraged, either directly or indirectly, by the right-wing and religion. Remember the photograph from the event last year that went around the world? It showed a priest blessing the thugs attacking the police.

So what happened to all the riot equipment that Milosevic bought to suppress Serbian democratic protest?

…. Oh yes - it got worn out through over-use.

-If the police cannot (or will not, we shall see how many police don't show up for work on Sunday)protect peaceful Gay protesters in their national capital, then Serbia is a failed state undeserving of EU consideration. (Tom)-

Wow, Tom, you don't mince words! but then, neither do I :) who is that 2-bit milosevic hack, and is anyone supposed to take him seriously? not really? after all of the right-wing agit-prop fr the belgd regime, police union TOGether with "family-values" (please!) groups, all the threats, direct and implied, considering the violence from the last parades, and in the Balkans!! and he wants the lgbt community to pony up?

it's like a crazy hallucination. that's their best and brightest... in charge of the police! of security...

maybe a few ppl in russia and belarus think this is normal. but for civilized ppl, dacic and his ilk are sick=o.

It is so clear that Tadic wants to protect only Lesbians and Gays. He is ordered by USA and others to do so and forget about Serbs and Kosovo. His government spent millions on organizing Lesbian and Gay parades but there are still refugees in Serbia from wars and people without their basic home needs caused by recent earthquakes. Terror on Serbs is continued in all ways.

My God, this is what Serbs are concerned about as their brothers are being shot in Kosovo and their government facilitates the dismemberment of their country by negotiating with the ghouls in Prestina? Sad.

The minister said that police would be able to adequately perform their duties and protect the participants, citizens and the city property after they received the necessary equipment.

Is Ivica for real. Asking handful of marchers to provide police equipment for over 3000 police officers.

It looks like the police do not wish to do their duty to protect the peaceful protesters. If the Serbian police forces want LGBT assistance in the form of aid from our organizations, they will need to have OPENLY GAY male officers in massive numbers on the force. I doubt there is one single openly Gay male officer on the Belgrade police force. Perhaps B-92 could ask Dacic how many openly Gay male officers there are on his 5,000 person force? My guess. Zero. Since many of those seeking violence are football fans, why not simply cancel all football matches and use the savings from the security required for those events to purchase the equipment needed.

Any police officer not showing up for duty on Sunday should be fired. It is their duty to enforce the constitution of Serbia, which absolutely demands that LGBT persons have the right to protest publically in their national capital. Any violence should be blamed on those committing it. It is obvious from these problems that there is a dire need for public gay protests in Serbia. If the police cannot (or will not, we shall see how many police don't show up for work on Sunday)protect peaceful Gay protesters in their national capital, then Serbia is a failed state undeserving of EU consideration.

If people are concerned about Mitrovica, and are using that as an excuse to ban the freedom of protest, assembly, petition, and association by LGBT citizens in their national capital, then might I suggest that they direct the right wing to spend Sunday down in Mitrovica helping out the Serbs down there. But they wont do that.

5,000 Serbian police to enforce a march by a handful of foreign “Gays” through Belgrade. Where are the Serbian police to protect the remaining Serbs in Kosovo from extermination at the hands of NATO?
