Nice, bravo. First, Croatia was part of Yugoslavia, and strangely doesn't like the law but likes the borders. Why don't you give Istra back to Italy? Why you hate everything about the country you were part of, except your borders that became "historical and international"? Stop the duality. You just legalized killing of Serbians in the name of the state, as you did in WW2.

The whole world knows who the war criminals are and the history books will make sure that it stays that way...In terms of Serbia's laughable warrants-give them nothing !
(Bam Bam, 30 September 2011 04:24)

You're right. 20 years from now we'll still be reading about the war criminal Ante Gotovina and the crime against humanity that was Operation Storm. I'm not sure what will be published in Croatia, but around the world Croatia is usually lumped in with Serbia in being responsible for starting wars of ethnic conflict and being responsible for the displacement of thousands of people. The only difference is that Milosevic never believed in Greater Serbia but used it for his own purposes. Tudjman truly believed in Greater Croatia and tried as hard as he could to get it.

I guess the croats have copied this attitude from the Americans, refusing to believe or accept that their perfect croatian people never did anything wrong in their history. Just as Bush refused to ever allow an american tried for war crimes, the croats are now doing the same if Serbia is the accuser. Croatia is so extremely lucky to have gotten away with all the disgusting crimes that have been carried out by them, Jasenovac and all the other killings in WWII by the ustase, and then all the crimes in the 90s, ending up with 'Oluja', the largest ethnic cleansing in the entire war. Mesic should have been tried for his involvement, Tudjman on the other hand is lucky to have died, and even though im sure his soul burns in hell, the croats would have forever worshipped him.

However then again, this is rather typical of the HDZ. Just like Kosor making a passionate speech in which she payed tribute to Gotovina and Markac, more nationalistic moves by the HDZ are just a way of them trying to save their skins in elections. The HDZ has become very unpopular in Croatia, being widely regarded as a corrupt filthy criminal organization, they need to do everything they can to save themselves. Though not every croat is a bad person and there are good croats who wish for harmony with the Serbs, the fact that they teach their children that oluja really was a heroic victory in battle really is sick and pathetic, a joke of a nation.

Considering that the former attacked , destroyed and murdered the latter , and then had the bizzar idea to , after 20 years , want to portray themselves as victims, well you can understand that most Croats would be a little repulsed by the whole idea.
Such moves do not show Serbians to be moving forward , rather it simply reinforces the perception of a totally irrational obsession with being a victim.
The whole episode was rather infantile and bizzar actually - not to mention politcally backward.
(truthiness, 29 September 2011 15:56)
this is exactly the kind od twisted rhetoric.that the croats have use historically.Lets just make up our own history much like their late dictator tudjman.I;m sure the canadian peacekeepers that faught croats in combat trying to save Serbs in medak would disagree with your typically ignorant attempt at history.
I believe you have the nations mixed up.Serbs dont feel like victims thats why we always fight our own battles against oppressive forces. On the other hand croats because of they inherant victimization persona always beg other powers to save them.

Former Croat general guilty of war crimes jailed for 24 years

Ante Gotovina, a former Croatian general and a national hero, has been found guilty of nine counts of war crimes carried during the war in the former Yugoslavia and sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Judges at the war crimes tribunal in The Hague found Gen Gotovina “guilty as a member of a JOINT CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE” and on nine individual charges of war crimes, including murder, inhuman acts and forced deportations.

Mladen Markac, another Croat general, sentenced to 18 years on war crimes and crimes against humanity charges.

Who are they trying to protect? Could it be their citizens mentioned as part of the Joint Criminal Enterprise?

Where are the promotions of generalized guilt and rants
of de-natzification, de-natzification of croatian society!

It is clear that the Croatian government did this with the help of a sleaky NYC law firm and with the blessings of the US and German governments. And the current spineless Serbian puppet government keep extraditing Serbs while war criminals of other ethnic groups of the various Yugoslav civil wars have no fear whatsoever to face justice. Only because of connections Croatia managed to get into the EU. What a pathetic country.

Although I don't like Kosor, she is correct in her statement. The state of Serbia has no jurisdiction in Croatia, just as Croatia has not jurisdiction in Serbia.

These indictments are all just a highly publicized political game anyway. Serbia is trying to clean up its image from the Balkan wars, but they're doing so by attempting to criminalize Croatia as opposed to accepting accountability for their actions in Vukovar.

Just how will Croatia cope in the EU with all those laws passed by others ?
I say keep them out of the EU until they show some respect and cooperation with neighbouring countries. Additionally I would like to see some recognition and compensation for crimes committed against Serbians in Krajina. We don't need any more PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain) in the EU

The war crimes trial of Karadzic in the Hague is largely based on a civil lawsuit in the United States.

I wonder when this "non-hypocritical" woman, Kosor, will go on tv and declare the Karadzic trial a violation of state soveirgnity.

State regularly issue indictments for crimes committed abroad, especially when it is commited against its own citizenry. But you know, Croats can't be expected to know this.

Desperate times for HDZ. What to do? Of course, something against Serbia should take everyones mind off the failures. If the Croatian voter doesn't see through this, they will get the government they deserve.

Another Canadian Serb,

I sadly believe that Serbia of the 1990s is still present but has only changed the mask. You cannot be right but the rest (Croats, Bosnians, Albanians, Montenegrians, Macedonians and Slovenians) altogether wrong when the accuse Serbia.
