-I assume that you have not been to Kosovo during the last 10 years, otherwise you would notice that at least 80% of all buildings in Kosovo have been built after 1999 (the asthetic value of most of these buildings often leaves to desire, but that is another question...). You still can see some ruins from 1998-1999 here and there, but, no, most of them have not been destroyed by NATO aircraft and no, most of them were not Serbian houses. And even the Serbian monastries (Gracanica, Decan, Pec) are in a splendid shape, even if this might not match the imagination of someone who thinks of ordinary Albanian people eager to burn down Serbian monastries. Can you imagine that there are even Kosovo Albanians who go to Decan to stock up on the excellent wine and rakia made by the monks there?(Tinka, 26 September 2011 12:01)-

“A compromise is needed. Some have suggested that there are custom fees at the administrative line, but the money would not go to Pristina but rather to Kosovska Mitrovica instead. Which I support even more than there being no fee because then it gives more money to the Serbs north of the province and even some hybrid form of economic decentralization.”

Yes I agree entirely with this idea of a compromise, but I can’t fathom how that sensible view is then followed in the same message by the usual Serbian nationalist clap trap about taking all of Kosovo “back”.
Predrag:

“I assume you were asleep in 2004 when the "peaceful" Albanians destroyed over 140 churches and monasteries?”

Actually it was about 30 in 2004, but yes about 110 after mid-1999, by Albanian extremists or avengers. So your final figure is correct, and I agree shameful. However, since the issue was about a renewed Serbian conquest “rebuilding” what Albanians have “destroyed,” did you consider the 215 mosques destroyed by the official Serbian armed forces in 1999 (or don’t your Serbian propaganda sites tell you about this?)

“How many of these churches have been rebuilt??”

Don’t know, and I agree more needs to be done. How many of the mosques did Serbia pay to rebuild?

“I guess you were also asleep when over 200,000 Serbs were ethnically cleansed”

There were less than 200,000 Serbs in Kosovo in 1999 according to official Serbian and “Yugoslav” figures, yet there remained some 140,000 in Kosovo again according to Serbian figures (and most international statistics agree). So you do the maths. Let’s not make illogical statements. If 100,000 were forcibly driven out and most find it difficult to return due to security concerns, housing, employment etc, that is bad enough. Guess it might have had something to do with revenge after the Serbian army expelled 850,000 Albanians in 1999 and massacred over 10,000 people, but agreed it does not justify it. Kosovo needs to do a lot more to ensure returnees are not harassed, like they are at Zac for example.

“and their homes destroyed and occupied by "peace" loving albanians?”

I wonder if the occupation of former Serb homes by Albanians after 1999 had anything to with the utter destruction of 120,000 Albanian homes in 1999, according to official UN estimates, or don’t they tell you that in Serbian fairy tale books either? Doesn’t justify that so little has been done since then by international funds, but since we’re talking about destroying and rebuilding, adds a little context doesn’t it?

Simply pulling numbers as: 200,000 Serbs have been expelled by kosovo Albanians as well as saying that more than 140 churches have been destroyed is all very well said. It would be nice if you could provide some independent evidence of such claims. Otherwise this is simply a poor propaganda.

To be fair I have seen loads of such claims before but without any proof. Funny enough the number 200,000 appears to be very popular one in the recent history as no matter what region we are talking about it is always that 200,000 Serbs have been ethnically cleansed.

Looking forward to (some credible independent verification) of these claims

I think you misunderstood what I meant by that. Yes sure Western tax payers got the pleasure rebuilding infrastructure in Kosovo. What I meant however is once the West does in fact succumb to its own imperial greed and stretch its self too thin and they do send it packing (as every other empire to come through the Balkans) then Serbia will have a chance to rebuild Kosovo into something to be proud of and can serve as more than just a distribution center for heroin, sex slaves and Serbian organs.

All you have to depend on is a Titanic that is nearing its iceberg, when the sinking starts you will once again be face to face with your superiors with no one to hide behind.

Looks like some politicians don't understand when they have gone too far so the people have decided to take matters into their own hands. It is not entirely unexpected for opposition parties to take advantage of the Serbian government's failure.

This could also be an artificial creation that gets resolved in favour of the DS just before elections, so they come out looking good and get the votes needed to continue ruling for the benefit of the EU and US.

The SNS tries to be a party of the people, but never miss an opportunity to say they are consulting with Brussels. They had and still have a small chance of being a civic EuroSkeptic party in Serbia and form a coalition with other patriotic parties in the country.

But time will tell. As for the situation in Northern Kosovo, you can have these "customs" agents at the administrative line, but its not as if you can conform all these Serbs into accepting occupation. They simply will not budge and you cannot make them.

A compromise is needed. Some have suggested that there are custom fees at the administrative line, but the money would not go to Pristina but rather to Kosovska Mitrovica instead. Which I support even more than there being no fee because then it gives more money to the Serbs north of the province and even some hybrid form of economic decentralization.

Anyway we all know how the situation in Kosovo will end..the West will either drain Kosovo of its mineral or resources and then leave just as they have left Taiwan, Saddam and other former American cronies to fend for themselves. Or a more likely scenario is the West will simply run out of money to finance the retarded child known as "Kosova" and will have to pull out.

Then Serbia would easily take Kosovo back and rebuild what Albanians have destroyed.
