Must we remind Mirko that the applicant, in this case, Serbia, is not the one that decides if the conditions have been met to join the club, but it is the organization, in this case the EU, that decides. Violence against gay people doesn't occur only in Serbia but in ALL Eastern European countries where people are still very traditional. This isn't an unique phenomenon in Eastern Europe however. Plenty of anti-gay beatings still happen in Western Europe and America.
