The establishment of KFOR was forced on the US and their allies. The west wanted complete control of the entire situation, but they did not get their way. The west would have used FORCE a long time ago if they could have done so.
(sj, 25 September 2011 08:52)

Exactly what I was saying. KFOR is there because Russia said so. And I agree with you that similarly to the past, KFOR is not going to use any force because it does not have to. Albanians support it; Serbs support it. Everybody supports it and resolution 1244. So against whom should they use force ?!

If these barricades are not an issue for your albos then why this business? I doubt that you know that region as you have missed my point entirely. Do you think that goods can only flow through main roads? Well they don’t have to and that is my point that the Serbs in North Kosovo are not going to suffer from these roads closures.
(sj, 25 September 2011 08:52)

That’s great then. Nobody will suffer. End of the story. Barricades can remain there as long as they want. Unless of course you have a problem with that because you may have not trained your elephants to climb barricades or secondary roads :). And of course, everybody would be happy for K. Serbs to build new roads for free in Kosovo, thus improving Kosovo’s infrastructure. As I said before, Kosovo Albanians should do more for Kosovo taking example from their fellow K. Serb citizens of Kosovo.

I am extremely well informed about the economies of both the west as well as Asia. Let me say this if the western economies go downhill your Kosovo will not live very long as they cannot afford to maintain it. The EU has already told both Croatia and Slovenia that there is no other means of survival than to cooperate with Belgrade as Brussels cannot pour any more money into their treasuries.
In the US the social situation is going from bad to worse as the government is spending huge sums on wars to try and kick start their economy and losing at every turn. The Americans now have officially a 15 trillion debt. That is only the debt owned by the Federal government. If you take into account the debt owned by the individual states (that is also public debt) the entire amount comes to over 24 trillion.
If I was an Albanian in Kosovo I would be very worried.
(sj, 25 September 2011 08:52)

As I said, as far as I’m concerned, the US economy can go to hell – it does not affect me. At least will make you happy and who am I to deny happiness to anybody :). As for the Albanians in Kosovo, by all means, you can go there and start to increase their awareness about the US economy and convince them that they should start to get worried about that. I think everybody will be happy to have an expert like you enhance the financial and economic education for the population of Kosovo.

Yes, it was Russia which ordered NATO/KFOR to occupy Kosovo. no doubt about it.
(aaayyy, 25 September 2011 00:30)

Of course, when it approved resolution 1244. Now, 1244 does not use the word "occupy", but I'm leaving the labeling to you.

(icj1, As I said you can, of course, bring the elephants in if they are able to climb the barricades erected by the Kosovo Serbs. Barricades are cutting off K. Serbs from Serbia via the border posts 1 and 31, and Kosovo’s government is happy with that since all traffic is routed to the other border posts. So if Serbs want to continue the barricades, by all means they can go ahead, forever if they so want, as far as they don’t block the other border posts (different from 1 and 31).
If these barricades are not an issue for your albos then why this business? I doubt that you know that region as you have missed my point entirely. Do you think that goods can only flow through main roads? Well they don’t have to and that is my point that the Serbs in North Kosovo are not going to suffer from these roads closures. If you think that your government is not worried as they can use other administrative crossing then you are really kidding yourself – have a good look at Kosovo on a map. Oh, the west is painfully careful that the Serbs do not appear to be like the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto during WW2.
They can play this game all they like.

(icj1, I’m sure you are much more informed about that – sorry if you feel concerned. In any case it does not affect me, so as far as I’m concerned the US economy can go to hell.

As I said many times I can transport herds of rampaging elephants screaming at the top of their lungs into Kosovo with no impediments so I don’t see how this barricade benefits your Albanians since they produce NOTHING except Thaci BS. But you might want to enlighten us here how they are going to be fed with this problem looming?

ok, no need to worry because that road was shut also. I wonder if they going to spend so much money to try to open new roads, so that KFOR/NATO will close them the very next day. The money that has been waisted for past 2-3 weeks by Serbia, could have been direct for a better cause, such as Incubators that b92 has been working so hard to make sure hospitals are fully equipped.
(Agim Kelmendi, 23 September 2011 17:16)

It's very kind of you to worry about Serbian money and prosperity so much. But you shouldn't forget about yourself. Just think about Kosovo Albanian problems - high percentage of enemployment, crime, poverty, corruption. What people are witnessing here is man desperate to resolve this in the west’s favor so he can get that huge pay check. The problem is that this is not going according to the scrip and old Boris is looking mighty foolish and silly and the west impatient.
(sj, 23 September 2011 13:30)

By all means, Albanians in Kosovo would be happy if Serbs vote that guy out of office

This in some way is a Mexican standoff with the Serbs putting up barricades while KFOR guards sections of the road ways that are not used due to the barricades. But this nonsense of all options being open is total and utter 100% rubbish because they would look very stupid as the west has already turning tail and running in Afghanistan and Iraq and Li9bya is not looking good for them either. However, what is interesting is that an outside party with interests in that region will not allow NATO/FLOR/EULEX/DINDALEX or whatever lex you like to lift a finger.
(sj, 23 September 2011 13:30)

Rest assured that NATO/FLOR/EULEX/DINDALEX will not lift a finger, as much as you may want it. As far as K. Serbs are implementing Kosovo’s government decisions to not let traffic pass through 1 and 31, why should NATO/FLOR/EULEX/DINDALEX lift even a fingernail, let alone a finger :)

You can see the frustration of the EU/US, but they have to be very, very careful and so the 12 years of status quo going strong.
(sj, 23 September 2011 13:30)

(sj, 24 September 2011 02:05)

I’m sure you are much more informed about that – sorry if you feel concerned. In any case it does not affect me, so as far as I’m concerned the US economy can go to hell.

Politicians in USA and EU will use massive propaganda against Serbia, now they even have soldiers on the ground - more effective than bombs.

Guess what! The last time I heard the country of Serbia mentioned in the U.S. press is when Novak Djokovic wins a tournament. Some but not all Serbs think the U.S. and world are fixated on them and their country. Believe me we dont care just look at how long it took the world to respond to the war in Bosnia. We had to be dragged kicking and screaming to assist. Please get over the idea that we wake up in the morning wondering what the Serbs are up to today so that we can spread propaganda.

Those Serbs! Why can't they just accept the fact that the Albanians want them out of Kosovo and that Kfor is locking them up in ghettos surrounded with barbed wire for their own protection?
If the Serbs just accepted that whithout protesting it would be so much better for all parts.

This attempt to cut off KiM Serbians from the rest of Serbia is the spark that will turn into a flame and then into a fire and so on. This is the turning point for Serbians while Pristina and the West will choke on their greed.

Negotiations were the best chance for lasting peace and reconciliation but that window has been closed and now the future for the region looks much more bleak.

ok, no need to worry because that road was shut also.

“…but that “all options are open” for their removal, adding that it was clear what that meant.”
All hot air, p*** and wind. If they could do something they would have done this a long time ago. The problem is that the Belgrade regime headed by Boris Tadic want to sell out the Serbs in Kosovo and that is why he and his government are acting very strangely – talking about dialogue etc.
What people are witnessing here is man desperate to resolve this in the west’s favor so he can get that huge pay check. The problem is that this is not going according to the scrip and old Boris is looking mighty foolish and silly and the west impatient.
You can see the frustration of the EU/US, but they have to be very, very careful and so the 12 years of status quo going strong.

You are absolutely correct sj, as always. They are going to do nothing. I understand that barricades will hurt ordinary Serbs in N. Kosovo but as far as KFOR is concerned the Brnjak border crossing is open. If Serbs want to keep barricades and cut themselves off, who’s to say no to them – it’s their choice. They have been given the freedom to manage their own affairs. All of the traffic can pass via the other crossings (different from 1 and 31) where it will be inspected by Kosovo Customs. If you are fine with this status of affairs, it can continue like this forever.

Why? because average american, if he was given the whole story about the situation in Balkans, would have said,"why are we supporting extremist Muslim government in Kosovo, especially after 911."
I know that Americans are not thinking about the Serbs when they get up in the morning! They have much more important things to think about-and i bet it must be related to Crispy Cream Donuts or McDonalds....for now!
