“A principled policy should be applied equally to all,” Tadic concluded.

Exactly. But the recognition of Kosovo by several states wasn't a principled policy, but caused by an interest-bases policy. Just like the veto thread of the USA to accept the Palestinian UN membership is not a principal one.

Both cases are comparable, both states (Palestine and Kosovo) aren't internationally recognized UN members, both were created unilaterally without the agreement of the neighbor countries.

Tadic and his statements are embaresment to all Serbian people. When will you people learn, and stop electing Germany's lap dogs. Why not elect Vucinic or whatever his last name is. This curent guy is slowly selling your ancestrial home land piece by piece. He does not care about the future of Serbia, hell he was not even born in Serbia. As a friendly observer of Serbia, I get tired of listening to desperate statements from this guy. Wake up people, do you care about your future?

In principle he is right, only dialogue can resolve problems. However, the Albaninas want nothing short of independence and the Serbs are not prepared to even counter independence. So there will not be a compromise as neither side as shown ANY willingness to budge.

Why can't Thaci and K leave the North alone? Don't they have a lot of problems in the South to deal with? Do Northern Kosovo Serbs ask for Albanian police protection? Let Kosovo remain de-facto divided, what's wrong with that?

miris comparison has some sense to it... isreal like kosovo. both regions were part of a grand chess match, where powerful nations told palestinians that where they have been living for generations was given to israelis whose claim comes from thousands of years ago. in kosovo, powerful nations told serbians to leave the land where they had been living for generations so that it can be given to the albanians who claim some multithousand year historical reference too.

“A principled policy should be applied equally to all,” Tadić concluded.

Obama's principled policy is TWO STATE SOLUTION.

That is already equally applied to Kosovo-Serbia.

No.This principled policy applies only to Israel. You can do nothing about it.

it appears Serbian government position will be aligned with the US and Israel's position this time. wonder what the other countries of the non aligned movement will do.

Miri, the parallels are useless. The situations are very different. The situation in the Middle East is much more complex and harder to crack than Kosovo. For example, the Palestinian refugees did not return back to their homes as the Kosovo Albanians did. Imagine if that had happened to 800 thousand Kosovo Albanians. Israel too has the right to exist and the Israelis have the right to have a country. Only it happened on somebody else's land. Anyway, good luck to both parties and never trust Jeremic.

"He added that he fully agreed with Obama's speech, and that he expects that this principle would also be applied when it comes to Serbia, but noted that unfortunately, this had not happened yet.

“A principled policy should be applied equally to all,” Tadić concluded."

Israel is not against the Palestine independence. Israel does not claim West Bank or Gaza strip as an "integral part of Israel". Israel has been the one to be attacked several times by arab nations since its creation and not be the attacker. Israel is willing to sit down and discuss the term of independence of Palestinians. Israel is the one that
is denied the statehood by the arab extremists, and not the other way around. Israel is a minority in an Arab dominated area and needs the highest security guarantees, the analogy being the Albanians in the Ballkans surrounded by an overwhelming Slav/Orthodox population. Israel is Kosova and not Serbia.

There are crucial differences between Serbia and Israel claims and Mr. Tadic is drawing the wrong parallels.

Again, the "know-all" attitude of Serbian president is digested only in Belgrade.

Dialogue is continuing since 1991 so what next!! Settlement was expanding as a cancer in the West Bank, while negotiations were taking place, we are tired of this situation, we still hope from our Serbian friends to support the declaration of Palestinian state in United Nations

Sure, but what if the occupying force (NATO) consistently choose threats and violence, like occupying forces usually do? How far bending backwards are a subdued quisling regime ready to go? All the way?

Im sure Tadic western overlords has a nice hut ready for him and his gang, when things get really messy down there...

In principle he is right, only dialogue can resolve problems. However, the Albaninas want nothing short of independence and the Serbs are not prepared to even counter independence. So there will not be a compromise as neither side as shown ANY willingness to budge. Dialogue for the sake of dialogue is pointless. Kosovo IS independent (in the sense that its free from Belgrade). It is backed by the leading nations of the West, the leading players of the EU (a club Serbia is trying its utmost hardest to join) and it is fair to say, the US will remain in Kosovo for quite a while yet (hence Bondsteel). Serbia may well have the backing of China & Russia in say theory, but I doubt China or Russia care enough to risk a war with the West over Kosovo. Tadic is showing himself to be willing to negotiate, sadly for him, Serbia pretty much forfeited that right in 1999
