Zeka--I completely agree with you. I wrote in quite some time ago about small business loans, or some kind of micro credit. Yunus even came into town and supposedly something was set up.

Biggest problem, on every front, is corruption and the politicians. They have a strangle hold on everything. And the money and vested interest will not allow anything that truly would help the larger population.

People think it is because it is an "election" year. But unless people rise up, nothing is going to change.

Serbia is a small country and this gives it many opportunities in the economic sphere.
There are several systemic things serbia should do.
1) Flat tax rate across the board. Income, capital gains, corporate taxes all flat at lets say 10%. Not only will this be much easier to collect, people will be more willing to pay. Tax codes are so complicated most people can't be bothered and don't pay taxes at all.
2) Small business banks- Small businesses are the engine of an economy. Serbia has creative and entrepreneurial people. Encourage them. Indija is a good start. Make loans available for small businesses. 1 success out of ten and you will be winning.
3)Clear up the justice system and make sure investments are protected. Foreigners are scared of doing business in Serbia.
