What a misleading and innaccurate public statement coming from a Croatian political official. Croatia never was a country when it was "attacked". The right wing elements always complained how the "resources" of Croatia were being raped within Yugoslavia, it will be far worse in the EU as Germany will use Croatia as a dumping ground for its nuclear power plants and already had done so.

Croatia achieved it's strategic goal at the expense of Yugoslavia under the right wing USTASHA elements of Tudjman and Mesic at the expense of more moderate Croatians which also occured during WWII when ANTE Pavelic seized the government against the more moderate leader of the Croatian peasant party lead by Macek.

Blah,blah,blah. European Union, great dream of Germany to ocupy Europe without firing a bullet. It worked for a minute, and what now. Whole Europe on brink of bancruptcy. And now Germany is now allowing lapdog Croatia into the union. Great achievement, let the Albania and the ilegitemate state of Kosovo next. Any state of country in the right mind should stay far away from the EU. Go on your own,work hard build and don't be anyone's slave or subordinate. Long live Freedom.

I constantly read Serbs crying on this board non-stop about Croatia and the EU. Let's not forget that Serbia is also trying hard to get into the EU.

I think their accession date is 2099. Right after Transnistria and Kazakhstan.

Who cares and what is the difference? IF "Kosova" would EVER become a REAL country then it will be refused entry into the EU (which will most likely not exist anymore by then) by for instance Cyprus, that Albanian visitors here keep mocking, as long as Serbia has not recognized "Kosova". "Ivan", your one-liners have become quite boring.

In late 2014 the Treaty of Lisbon comes in to force. Enlargement becomes Qualified Majority Voting so no single EU member state can veto a candidate country from joining.

As for the croats, so much for the EU demanding action on reintegration and rights for croatian serbs before joining. The rules are different for friends of Grosse Deutschland.

Please don't let Croatia into the EU yet.

Croatia has not yet shown sufficient remorse for its fascist past - there is still too much misplaced pride and self-justification.

Ivan, your comment makes me happy, for once. If the Serbian people cannot change their awful government and its destructive policies themselves, then I hope Croatia will block Serbia so it cannot enter the sinking Euro Club. Bring it on!

Poland did very well recently, probably despite the E.U. and not because of E.U. During my travels I also found Polish people being very kind. Na good, except drunkard gastarbajteri but we weren't around that bunch much. My sympathy with them and wish you good luck in that stupid union, hope it won't destroy HR.

Kosor did sound totally stupid, hope she disappears from the scene. In countries which did not get rid of the old guard the E.U. did nothing, but misfire.

Is it similar to Portugal/Ireland/Italy? Or more like Sweden, Denmark and Germany or is it something between, such as Austria, Hungary or Slovakia?
