the fact is on Northern Mitrovica there are Serbs who are tired of those troubles, there are Serbs who will accept and already accepted the Government of Kosovo in North of Mitrovica, I have seen and spoken to so many Serbs who say that the main People taking part on the streets are not from Mitrovica at all but came from Serbia.

Nothing but truth

It's very easy to check. Just hold a referendum among N.Mitrovica Serbs if they support Kosovo independency

To Peggy and Jim:

Zagreb boy needs to be quiet! Zagreb/Croatia with the help of their western masters managed to ethnically cleanse half a million Serbs from their homes in Croatia! I happen to be one of those Serbian souls that was forced to flee Zagreb and my birth place in early 90's. If we decided to stay I am sure we be killed just like my grandmother/grandfather were murdered when Nazi Croatia came to power in 1941.
When Croatia President Franjo Tudjman gave his speech on national TV, after winning election, he specifically wished "happy new 1991 to all the Croatians and Croats that live in Croatia," automatically referring to Serbians and other minorities as second class citizens. They called it democratic Croatia, of course that meant rid of the land from the remaining Serbian population, in any way shape or form.
Kosovo Serbs should never trust the Albanian government in Pristina! Trust me, being a minority ethic group in either Croatia/Bosnia or Kosovo, is no way for someone to live their life.
Both the Croatian and Albanian Kosovo governments will do anything they possibly can to exterminate and push out anything that is has to do with Serbs and their 2000 year old heritage in Balkans.

I believe for Government of Kosovo this situation is OK as far as Serbs are peaceful. If the KFOR is not going to run out of fuel for helicopters the government of Kosovo is OK to keep this situation for a year. The custom officers are going to compete who will go to Gates 1 and 31. It would be exciting to go to work with helicopter every single day. It might be the most attractive job and Albanian of Kosovo can have.

But we Albanians of Kosovo are not going to use that approach for two reasons: first, we can’t do that because we do not have power; second, we have a successful story in Gracanica and other parts of Kosovo, which seems to be a much easy and safe approach. Therefore, we have started to respect the life of Serbian citizens more than the need for a control in every corner of the place

@(trizo, 17 September 2011 22:18)
I would recommend Russia. It looks to be a very powerful country. I think Serbia is lucky because is not in the border with Russia; otherwise, Serbia would not be a lucky state like Ukraina and other form SSSR countries, but thank to the love and respect for Russians would be having some experiences similar to Georgia, or probably Cecenia, or probably Serbian identity would not exist anymore.
Now is my question,
I just do not understand what these Serbian leaders mean by reinforcing barricades? I believe KFOR has enough funds to cover expenses of helicopters to fly several times a day. Do those Serbian cars Yougo and Zastave can fly, or how these Serbs are going to travel themselves. I believe for Government of Kosovo this situation is OK as far as Serbs are peaceful. If the KFOR is not going to run out of fuel for helicopters the government of Kosovo is OK to keep this situation for a year. The custom officers are going to compete who will go to Gates 1 and 31. I would go as far as de-recognizing Palestine - what Palestinians did do "useful" to Serbia ever except the Kosovo recognition? Pretty good timing by the way - and get some Israeli experts to handle the situation professionally. Would confuse U.S. of A. quite a bit.

At this moment I would rather parade the Israeli card, not the Russian simply because Russian card will produce an expected knee-jerk reaction from U.S. of A. unexpected things do often a better job at much less costs. Besides Israelis could be well Russians, just with a different moniker.

Both the Croatian and Albanian Kosovo governments will do anything they possibly can to exterminate and push out anything that is has to do with Serbs and their 2000 year old heritage in Balkans.

the fact is on Northern Mitrovica there are Serbs who are tired of those troubles, there are Serbs who will accept and already accepted the Government of Kosovo in North of Mitrovica, I have seen and spoken to so many Serbs who say that the main People taking part on the streets are not from Mitrovica at all but came from Serbia.

Nothing but truth

It's very easy to check. Just hold a referendum among N.Mitrovica Serbs if they support Kosovo independency

Serbian leaders are impotent and will not be able to achieve anything but suffering for the people living in Northern Kosovo. The sooner this charade comes to an end the better for the whole region. These so called "barricades" are nothing but an extended arm of Belgrade leadership and have been proven useless in the past. As I said do stop now and learn to live together otherwise nobody will be willing to help you in the long run.

One more thing. Please stop calling Kosovo a cradle of Serbian nation 'cause its not.

ps. stop hoping that Russia will help you. They won't as they are busy helping themselves.

Trust me, if that were true, there'd be Chetnik groups running around everywhere in N.Kosovo, but there isnt, Tadic has effectively invited Thaci in by saying they wouldnt put up armed resistance, and now Tadic shall face the consequences. Viva la Revolution.

Serbs shoot in the air to provoke. Throwing stones against EULEX to provoke. And those groups that do this are far-right groups from Belgrade, not ordinary Serbs. And why do not you think that ministers from Belgrade urges these groups to stop provoking for? Bogdanovic and his company allows these groups to continue provocation to a point where everything goes wrong and then Belgrad pointing the finger at Prishtina and accuse them of violence.

Ooops! I guess this "successful takeover" of the bordercrossings, as Thaci claimed it to be, turned into a nightmare. I'm glad to see my fellow Serbs fight peacefully for their land and their righ not to get ethnicly clensed by albanians. I guess Thaci and the rest of his drugsmuggling government need to go back to the drawing board.

BT, provoked by Belgrade??? I dont know what went through your head when you came up with that idea. The Belgrade politicians are burying their heads in the sand, and doing little about it. As for your comment on 'far-right groups', this is just such a typical way of describing normal Serbs, who are angry because they are the victims of this whole situation.

And Ivan,
your comment regarding the Serbs acting like kids... Well, dont you think it was extremely childish when your brave and beloved croatian ustasa soldiers turned to the americans like cry babies when you couldnt win the war that you yourselves started, even though you falsely teach the newest croatian generation of kids that 'oluja' was won in courageous battle. That is child like and pathetic, your comments have no place here.

Being croatian, you should be last to preach about freedom, law and equality. Your country is the worst offender when it comes to equality in all former yogoslavian republics. Your atrocities dwarf anything Milosevic of Serbia has done. Starting before ww2 and to this date you have sistematicaly slaughtored and expelled all non croacians.even now your country has been racist to all non croacian visitors to your beautifull country partially stolen from Italy and lets not forget Kraina. All you are is German lapdogs.History will some day expose what your people are. Where i am from this is called bigotry. I am not a Serb but i understand their pain and strugle.

If your message is: "either do a war professionally or don't do it" than yes. Time-proven experts are Israelis and VietCong, Serbia should ask some advice or if they can't do - hire professionals.

@ to-zagreb-Eu,

Well said, you put him in his place.

The EU is a joke anyway.. Serbia to be in the EU by 2019? Is it really worth losing our identity to join a failing union who has run out of money?

Serbia should be strengthening ties with other countries and finding economies of scale elsewhere.

We can continue to do business in the EU in a less efficient manner but other reforms can also attract money to the country, especially regarding visas/custom duties.

The comments coming form Serbs & other pro-Serbs on this article are far more educated than the Serb haters.

Lets see the goal was to stop illegal customs goods from traveling through checkpoints 1 and 31. See any goods passing through, they must go through checkpoints already staffed with customs agents. The situation now is peaceful. All Kfor and Eulex have to do is wait for some hot headed Serb to change that.
Sounds like a good plan in place to me although not the one painted in the media and definitely not the one by SErb politicians.

I fell sorry as why the people who want to leave and enjoy there are disturbed from some selfish people who wants trouble not because they don't want Kosovo government but simply because they cant change from unlawful activities of the past to lawful life where everyone can leave in peace, ask other Serbs in other parts of Kosovo what less they got other than Albanians in Kosovo, Ahtisari plan does give them what no minorities in the world have so what is in Mitrovica that Serbs wants to reject?...i know what is it, simply to carry on doing illegal activities and be able to earn easy money by avoiding state taxes, paying utility bills and all other legal stuff, is that sort of life Serbs want to live and never be able to have a place where law and order is applied, you can tell me whatever you feel but Serbian government is interested on Kosovo land where Kosovo government wants to help and make this people live equal as everyone else in Kosovo, I don't hate anyone I just thing Serbs had enough and deserve to be left in peace in Kosovo and have a better life which Kosovo is willing to help them with. I am Kosovar and never forget what Serbs has done in Kosovo but is time o move on as other parts of the world have done and not carry on passing hate and trouble to our new generations. history will talk and no-one can change but for God's sake leave the personal interest on the side and look straight and enjoy the life for everyone in peace with no fear of what's tomorrow is bringing.
