First, don't ever mention my name in the same sentence w/ that soviet scumbag. he is a dangerous hacker and stalker, not to mention ugly racist and full-on wack-job. in other words, a "pravda" special.

and IF you mention my name, instead of adding stupid and lowbrow ditties about gyrating "half-naked" bodies or hairy butts, try to discuss some actual real ideas -- for example, how the reactionaries in serbia always feels mandated by ambiguous messages from govt and their pr machine(s) to attack undesirable minorities, in this case lgbt participants. or the very real life danger that said participants put themselves in, day in and day out, especially when they get up the nerve to walk in the parade, and have god knows what thrown at them, their faces shown publicly, etc.

this ongoing idiocy about "half-naked, gyrating bodies" tells so much more about the homophobes then about the actual participants, taking their very lives in their hands.

and in places like serbia, every damn participant deserves a friggin medal.

it is true that here the pride parade is so di rigueur, it is hardly raDICAL (except maybe for some ppl just coming out), it is filled with politicians and frnds, religious groups, every kind of group. it really is a family affair, and frankly, it's a bit boring for many of us, "gyrating bodies" or not.

in detroit, it was quite different -- it was a radical action, and dangerous, at least back in the 70s. i remember one frnd, someone i'd recently met, who was just coming out, and determined to make a powerful political statement. a really nice guy, and a bit stocky -- no gyrating, half naked body, his! and he came out to the march, spoke in front of tv cameras, it was quite amazing, quite courageous.

there are men and women like him all around the world, just "regular" people who happen to be lgbt and are so damn sick of all the hiding and prejudice, the cowardice, including their own... many small amazing stories, but never seen here, of course, and by that i'm talking about the life stories of lgbt people over there in blgd.

it hardly needs to be said that if i (or most of my frnds here) were there in oct, of course we would be at the lgbt pride event. it just goes without saying. anyone of conscience, who is conscious, who understands these human rights struggles, would and will be there to show their support. it goes without saying. i can't imagine otherwise.

i say it again, altho it is really a super-human task: do not allow yrself to be brought down by the evil here, by the diversions, by the hatred, the prejudice, the racism, the anti-semitism, and of course, the never-ending nationalism. you have to staY strong, believe in yr ideals, not allow yrself to be silenced, pushed off track. i am only human, i am no saint; when i am (endlessly) attacked, i will respond -- that's normal. but the key is to keep on track, to fight for what is right.
that especially needs to be repeated to minorities and dissidents!

never let them silence you. never.

(SCP UK, 10 September 2011 23:36)

It would be a political statement if the parade wouldn't have been authorized. Serbia wants to be a democratic country, so what should the reason be to ban this parade? Security reasons? That would mean giving in to some hundreds of known extremists/hooligans who are against it and start rioting instead of forming a peaceful counter-protest parade?

To say it with Voltaire: "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Danilo & analyst,

My point is that the police are political, the gay pride parade is being authorised for political reasons and nothing else. I know from speaking to a number of police officers that their union is barely listened to on the issue. No wonder Dacic jumped at the chance to join Tadic's coalition when he was offered the position of interior minister.

--Dačić stressed, however, that holding of the Pride Parade represented a big security risk. He repeated that many police officers, who had been protecting the parade participants from the extremists, had been injured during last year’s Pride Parade in Belgrade. “If they are too aggressive, police are criticized for violating human rights, if they are passive they take the beating and there is no riot anywhere in the word where policemen take more beating than protesters and where there are more injured policemen than demonstrators,” the minister said, commenting on the 2010 Pride Parade.--

So here's the deal: every! drop of blood will be on this milosevic hack's hands, not to mntion his, um democratic colleagues, not to mention the "elite" of serbia.

day after day, the blgd rgime (and its dreary pr machine)prevaricate about the lgbt parade -- should we, shouldn't we; are we democratic, are we like russia; do we have to pretend we hold advanced, western civilized values, or should we just be "ourselves"? meaning civil rights, civil liberties, esp. for minorities, are some kind of western luxury, some kind of western perversion...

all of this gives the (fill in the blank): church, ultra nationalists, homophobes, "hooligans", "center-rightists", whomever the opportunity to strengthen, to know they have support, to know the govt (and pr machines) are offering them a wink and a nod... this is serbia, after all. let the violence begin.

so, let's look at last year in (let's pretend we're democratic) serbia. this time the marchers, all the participants (as far as we know) were kept safe, for once! unlike in um democratic russia/ belarus etc, where their heads are regularly cracked, where they are regularly threatened, cursed, intimidated, etc. so FINALLY the blgd regime --- under intense intl pressure -- did the right thing ON THAT DAY, and protected people.

BUT all of the homophobic opposition was left to do their own thing, to feel "blessed" by guess who? the usual culprits. and the results? rioting and violence ag. the police, dozens of whom, at least, were hospitalized, some severely. widespread rioting ag. the police, thank you very much, belgrade "democratic" regime. who cares about a few dozen people?

and what is different this time round? not much. even less support from belgrade regime for participants, even more public ambiguity, lots more "subtle" support for the so-called hooligans, and we all know who supports and finances their little antics.

so, just remember when the blood begins to flow (again and again) how the democratic blgd regime laid down the prep.

my one other suggestion for parade/march leaders, who can take it or leave it: Record EVERYTHING. and organize your own security, do NOT rely on the cops alone. have first aid readily available...

Political? What a nonsense. It's the task of the police to provide security. They don't have to be told by the government, that's simply their job. If they 'don't want to go out', then they shouldn't have chosen to become a police officers. And they don't defend 'this disgusting parade', but they protect people and building against hooligans and violent elements, just like while any major football match. It's more disgusting that people who want to 'protest' against something cannot do it peacefully - which is a typical sign of extremists or hooligans who are not 'protesting', but only want to find an excuse for being violent.

So basically Dacic isnt hiding the fact of how he is acting in such an autocratic way, he is a clear dictator over the police.

“I don’t want police to do it, let the Serbian government do it because it is in charge of that. Police is in charge of enforcing the laws and they have the right to hold the gathering according to the law,”

Such a clear example of how the police in Serbia is political, and how they have to do as they are told by the government, this is then no different to the time of Milosevic, well thats not surprising seeing as Milosevic was Dacic's mentor. my one other suggestion for parade/march leaders, who can take it or leave it: Record EVERYTHING. and organize your own security, do NOT rely on the cops alone. have first aid readily available...

good old democratic serbia, you (and yr pr machines) have come so far...

I feel sorry for many of the police officers though, whether they are regular police or with the zandarmerija, most of them dont want to go out and defend this disgusting parade, but they have no choice as if they refuse they will be unemployed. "

I feel sorry for many of the police officers though, whether they are regular police or with the zandarmerija, most of them dont want to go out and defend this disgusting parade, but they have no choice as if they refuse they will be unemployed. It is disgusting how Tadic's regime uses the police to carry out political gains.

Pls say it ain't so!!

Well, imagine they would have an other job. One day you receive a suspicious call

Than you hear: "knock-knoick".
- "Who's that?"
- "Let in - Put in !!!"
- "Put in what?"
- "Dacic, Tadic, Jeremic, Mladic, Sindjelic, Abramovic, Jasenovic"
- "Abramovic?"
- "Yes, he has the airplane for you to Siberia"

- "And who's Jasenovic"
- "That's the typo from your web site!"
- "Bummer".

Now you know, what kills the skunk.

But regardless - I would write "JasenovAc" and not "Jasenovic".

Agim,

I don't understand why you're wasting your breath replying to this guy or girl (more a girl then a guy i reckon, I'm sure he cannot wait for the pride parade).

He sounds so desperate, brainwashed that makes even Milosevic looks like an angel next to him.

It's obvious it is so!!!

Preaching same again and again cowardly from the safety of the far-away Frisco is cheap. Show some spine and balls - and come here for that parade or "our" parade. Unfortunately you aren't needed even for ones you claim being your friends because after few words it's clear: a narcissistic windbag, no substance.

First, don't ever mention my name in the same sentence w/ that soviet scumbag. he is a dangerous hacker and stalker, not to mention ugly racist and full-on wack-job. in other words, a "pravda" special.

and IF you mention my name, instead of adding stupid and lowbrow ditties about gyrating "half-naked" bodies or hairy butts, try to discuss some actual real ideas -- for example, how the reactionaries in serbia always feels mandated by ambiguous messages from govt and their pr machine(s) to attack undesirable minorities, in this case lgbt participants. or the very real life danger that said participants put themselves in, day in and day out, especially when they get up the nerve to walk in the parade, and have god knows what thrown at them, their faces shown publicly, etc.

this ongoing idiocy about "half-naked, gyrating bodies" tells so much more about the homophobes then about the actual participants, taking their very lives in their hands.

and in places like serbia, every damn participant deserves a friggin medal.

it is true that here the pride parade is so di rigueur, it is hardly raDICAL (except maybe for some ppl just coming out), it is filled with politicians and frnds, religious groups, every kind of group. it really is a family affair, and frankly, it's a bit boring for many of us, "gyrating bodies" or not.

in detroit, it was quite different -- it was a radical action, and dangerous, at least back in the 70s. i remember one frnd, someone i'd recently met, who was just coming out, and determined to make a powerful political statement. a really nice guy, and a bit stocky -- no gyrating, half naked body, his! and he came out to the march, spoke in front of tv cameras, it was quite amazing, quite courageous.

there are men and women like him all around the world, just "regular" people who happen to be lgbt and are so damn sick of all the hiding and prejudice, the cowardice, including their own... many small amazing stories, but never seen here, of course, and by that i'm talking about the life stories of lgbt people over there in blgd.

it hardly needs to be said that if i (or most of my frnds here) were there in oct, of course we would be at the lgbt pride event. it just goes without saying. anyone of conscience, who is conscious, who understands these human rights struggles, would and will be there to show their support. it goes without saying. i can't imagine otherwise.

i say it again, altho it is really a super-human task: do not allow yrself to be brought down by the evil here, by the diversions, by the hatred, the prejudice, the racism, the anti-semitism, and of course, the never-ending nationalism. you have to staY strong, believe in yr ideals, not allow yrself to be silenced, pushed off track. i am only human, i am no saint; when i am (endlessly) attacked, i will respond -- that's normal. but the key is to keep on track, to fight for what is right.
that especially needs to be repeated to minorities and dissidents!

never let them silence you. never.

ciao! roberto frisco
