You are suffering now. I have always thought there was something very similiar in sound of language and culture to Italy with Serbia. Congratulations!

"Serbia has a well educated workforce that the investor does not have to spend time or additional resources to train people" This is false.

Yes Danilo maybe right here as Serbian Universities don’t have diplomas nor PhDs in goat herding.

The Lord of the Dance talks about leaders being assassinated…..” well in that case the US must be a real pariah in this world because they have had more assassinations per head head of state than most countries, but where is there more brutalization of tourist than the British football thugs of yester year? But who has blood feuds except for the Albanians? Only the Albanians carry arms while ploughing fields and they have the gall of talking about assassination of Serbian leaders. What did you expect that the Italiansinvest in Kosovo? LOL, LOL – another deluded Albanian living well away from that region.
Italian corporations are investing because they see a profit and they have the money to do so. But how many of your US companies have invested in Kosovo??????????? None; why what a surprise. Look at who is in denial.

"That's good news, LOL!! Another country that is about to hit the bottom of the economic scale, is investing in a country that's, well..... is this even worth a comment?! "
(Pls say it ain't so!!, 10 September 2011 06:33)

It might be hard to understand for Kosovo Albanians which have no economy and no private owned major companies, but it's not the COUNTRY of Italy that is investing, but Italian COMPANIES, like FIAT, one of the 10 biggest car manufacturers worldwide.

Private companies check and compare the places they want to invest in. An unstable state with an uncertain status, headed by a corrupt government that came to power by manipulating elections, unreliable public services and infrastructure as well as dubious political extremist parties is kind of a no-go for any renowned company. Uneducated workforce might be another problem down there, let alone having the reputation of having its leaders assassinated and tourists brutalized by drunken hooligans. I guess its just a way of life. However, I must give them credit for being able to comfort themselves by means of delusion and denial(and I don't mean a river in Egypt).

Pls say it ain't so!!

Serbia won't benefit from Italian investment. It's dirty money which will only continue corruption in Serbian government.

The Italians won't do it by the book & the Serbians will obviously make money from it as well.

Italians go to other countries and win the tender to build infrastructure etc purely by corrupt measures, such as inflating the REAL construction cost as to secure the bid & also provide the Serbs with a little bit 'extra' profit from the job.

Just watch how much money the Italians will make from Kosovo.. exploiting the poor and beating other competition through corruptive measures.

Once you get to the top (of politics) its very hard, if not impossible to stay clean.

"Now this bring me to my question; where are the Albanians going to work considering that not a Euro has been committed to building or even opening industry in Kosovo?"

Unlike the donor money which is simply spread on Kosovo, private companies check and compare the places they want to invest in. An unstable state with an uncertain status, headed by a corrupt government that came to power by manipulating elections, unreliable public services and infrastructure as well as dubious political extremist parties is kind of a no-go for any renowned company. Uneducated workforce might be another problem down there.

"and secondly the labour is cheaper than in Italy."

This is true.

Let’s put a few things into perspective here. Firstly, the money that is invested comes from a private source and not government funds so these are all long-term commitments and not a one or two year deal.

Secondly, the reason for these investments is simple – Serbia has a well educated workforce that the investor does not have to spend time or additional resources to train people and secondly the labour is cheaper than in Italy. These firms are also attracted by incentives that make more sense to invest in Serbia – this is much like the Chinese strategy.

Always remember that Corporations have no home or loyalty to one people or nation as they are like a shark in the ocean which has only two main purposes survive and reproduce. This is the same with Corporation; make profit for shareholders and increase that profit next year. It neither likes or dislikes you or me but if you get in its way to a nice profit it will destroy you.

Now this bring me to my question; where are the Albanians going to work considering that not a Euro has been committed to building or even opening industry in Kosovo?

The answer is as plain as the noses on their faces.

"Romani said he gave Serbia's Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković guarantees that Italian companies are interested in taking part in the construction of a metro system in Belgrade. "

Are these companies that hard up for foreign business because they couldn't find any in their own country? Moreover, its seems really strange that in a truly democratic and free market economy that it is possible for the government to "guarantee" anything about private companies to foreigners.
