Kostunica is playing the popularist. He knows full well that preventing Kosovo from secession is a lost cause. Of course Kosovo is the heart land of all Serbs but is was Tito's Yugoslavia that gave Kosovo full autonomy back in 1974. The seeds for an independent Kosovo were planted then. What the Serbs need to do is play "the game" clever and turn the inevitable in their favour.

I agree. You need a new leader with balls who can directly tell citizens of Serbia that Kosovo has been lost in the war of 1999 when Serbia has signed capitulation in Kumanovo. Therefore Serbia can return Kosovo just the same way as Saddam can return Kuwait.

I am not a fan of Kostunica, I seriously question his motives in every political context. But, I think he is right regarding this issue. Serbia should not give in so easily to Merkel and the EU. This will set a precedence for any future negotiations Serbia has with the EU.

Tadic was swiming in his ilusions until Merkel appears with a clear US, EU message. Vojo has no ilusion that Kosovo is lost forever for Serbia. Is it no lost for the Serbs leaving there, but this is another issue. The only theoritical possible event can bring back some part of Kosovo to Serbia. A new regional or European, if not World War. Even this will not be the solution of Vojos and many other Serbs dreams. The only solution is to stop lying the Serbian people that the Constitution will bring Kosovo back and finish the unendless pain with a short painful solution. Reckongnise Kosovo as independent neighbour and Serbia will profit more than Serbians believe.
