I think Serbia's advances towards the EU are premature and one-sided. An economic and political union with Turkey is a possible alternative that Serbs should seriously taken into consideration.

Turkey has always regarded Serbia as her lost son and will glady welcome him back. The Turkish economic growth is excellent and everyone would profit from a union reaching from Bihac over Belgrade, Pristina, Skopje, Sofia, Ankara up to Baku, Ashgabad & Alma-Ata.

What does albanians need customs stamps for ?
(moris, 26 August 2011 21:47)

1) To document properly and lawfully to Serbs that no customs fee has to be paid. And v.v.
So it's something like "OK, the old YU did break off, but we won't produce new borders officially".

In order to new borders not produced officially new stamps have to be made and new border checks have to be administered. The bureaucracy needs to be expanded in order to meet the expanded needs of the bureaucracy.

2) To re-assert and re-assure them self, Kosovo is a country. Would be that re-assertion and re-assurance made with certain political wisdom and observing certain rules - no one would have a doubt about legitimacy.

Unfortunately they are lost into nationalistic frenzy... because simply the existence of their so-called leaders without that frenzy is not justified. And that frenzy needs constant re-assurance.

Even if Serbia would achieve to get candidate status, it would not change much. Actually, without the negotiation date, it is only a symbolic achievement. Macedonia and Turkey have this status since years without any progress in terms of EU accession.
(John, 26 August 2011 21:04)

Yes. But it looks very good in the CV of a politician. I guess, that's the point.

You certainly can buy EU candidate status, BT, just look at the price tag that Germany, and the other modern day imperialists are trying to impose on Serbia. Everything is for sale today, my friend, and everything has a price. I wonder, behind closed doors, what Pristina's price was for a recognized independent state from the occupiers?

Ferrari You can buy, candidate status you can't buy.
(BT, 26 August 2011 14:48)

You can buy both. Just Ferrari - at least for some - is really worth the asking price.

I don’t know what this guy is talking about because that paradise on earth called the EU is about to implode - the latest rumor is that Germany’s credit rating is about to be downgraded. The Germans are denying this but you know where there is smoke there is fire.
Considering that the Germans were the last of the Mohicans so to speak in Europe, what is the point of joining the EU as the others have no money.

Mr Božidar Đelić you are dreaming about candidate status
I was dreaming about ferrari's zzzz
(BT, 26 August 2011 10:07)

At the end both of you will get that fancy salvage title carbon-monoxide emitting Trabant. No candidate, no Ferrari.
