Thanks Mendo. the unending flow of evil and nastiness against us has become so de rigueur here, it's almost funny, a parody of the other side. what's not at all funny is how they are always facilitated. think about it.

there are serbs who think otherwise -- i've always tried to point that out (when allowed here, which is seldom). you see that, for one example at site Pescanik, which made the break and has moved on. it is NOT about ethnicity, it is about people who have a conscience, despite all odds.

yes, dissidents need to support one another. thanks again, and to all who have shown support and encouragement. i send that back to you all!

it is so very easy to wrestle in the mud and merde, with the usual suspects. it is so much harder to take the high road, for me as well. but it's the better path.

"Then the week after half of Serbia would go hungry because EU stopped giving them aid."

EU funds are long since allocated for Serbia and are not distributed or controlled by Germany. Just writing something of which you know absolutely nothing does not make it a fact. Another sad person who has no understanding of EU institutions or functions.

Tadic should do what Dodik did: call for a referendum, have a few choice words with leaders of the EU and US, call off the referendum (saying that in hindsight having those choice words made him realize that calling for it was a bad idea), act like nothing ever happened, ask Serbia and Russia for money and political cover to stave off bankruptcy and humiliation, and proclaim a political victory. Works every time and is sure to get him those crucial Serb nationalist hardliner votes he needs.

"If Tadic was a real man, which he is not, he would have given Merkel a few choice words behind closed doors, and kicked her out of the country." - Dragan

Then the week after half of Serbia would go hungry because EU stopped giving them aid. Please do not kid yourself into thinking Serbia can do as it pleases. It is a very small fish in a very big sea in which countries like Germany are the Sharks. Serbia depends on foreign aid to survive. Most of that foreign aid comes from the EU which in turn gets most of its money from economically powerful countries like Germany. You might live outside the country and talk that way but to people in Serbia who every day depend on money coming from abroad to survive having good relations with Germany and the EU is vital and souring those relations by offending visiting heads of state is simply not an option.

I see here to many Serbs pretend to care in what state Kosovas economy is when we all know that because of Serbia Kosovo is poor today but much much better then when it was in Yugoslavia. And as somebody mention here we see a big big success that we have nothing to do with Belgrade.

You are right! And as long as the same criminals from the 90s in Kosovo are still in power (now pretending to be 'politicians'), we will never see any progress in Kosovo becoming a country with democratic and European standards.

Now I understand why Kosovo spends (donor) money for buying recognitions than to improve the region, create a better environment for investments and improve the living conditions of the average citizen: The only success Kosovo has is based on 'having nothing to do with Belgrade'! Kosovo Albanians know all their unilateral actions are approved by Germany. Like their biggest unilateral was decalaring independence. And that was endorsed. That comment of Merkel makes no sense. Only Serbian actions are bad. No Albanian actions are bad. The only thing is for Serbia to endorse unilateral Albanian actions. Like the unilateral indepence declartion. Germany has no problems with unilateral Albanian actions. That is just a bizarre lie Merkel is telling. Serbia will never ever be a member of the EU. Never ever.

(The Count of Kosova, 23 August 2011 21:16)

Very true... As anyone who has ever been to Kosovo will tell you, at the very least, not having Serbian security forces in Kosovo is a big accomplishment for your people. Considering what Serbs forces (both regular and irregular) have done in the Balkans it is incredibly important to never again allow their presence amongst vulnerable unarmed civilian populations. Without security nothing can began to prosper. At least the average citizen of Kosovo both Albanian and Serb) can go to school without seeing Serbian paramilitary formations performing manuevers by the side of the road or fear being kidnapped off a school bus like many of the documented cases that occured in the Balkans during the war.

Like any start-up corporation which does not generate profits for years, the economy of Kosovo will improve and one day develop into a success story. Until that point is reached it is important for the people of Kosovo to keep security first in their minds and do what they can to improve their lives and educate their children. All good things will come in time.

Pls say it ain't so!!!

You guys are getting to be very dull and boring. Enough already with putting down one another, its' so annoying!!

OK, Kosova is the poorest reagion, if you claim so!! who cares what you think, I sure don't,, and I guarantee you that no Albanian cares either. Get one thing through your thick skulls, Albanians would rather be poor than be under Serbian occupation. Get over it already, we're not entertaining your low blows anymore; boring, redundant and extreemly annoying.

You're like a broken record, but do not realize that WE DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU THINK!! GET IT???!!!

Be done with it as we have better things to deal with, like mingling with Amers, Germans, French, Brits etc.

Is that why Kosovo has the dialling code for my wonderful Monaco, because it is Switzerland? Not only do the likes of you have a very poor understanding of geography, you also fail to realise that Germany is your milchkow that you can do nothing without.

A funny lot germans. They've just said that they want to double investment in Serbia which means they have chosen a Serbia that follows the law, and not a mafia protectorate that the withered old prune they call the Chancellor supports. How many foreign investments have failed in Pristina's territories? All Pristina's big projects have collapsed though rampant corruption. Kosovo can only get free money from the arabs!

I think after Merkel's remarks today, it is very very obvious that Germany is trying in every way possible to weaken and destroy Serbia. For those naive Serbs out there, (and there are many, many of you) who think that Germany is somehow our friend and trying to help us (even though they have never been our friend nor helped us in their entire history), I say get your head our of your backside and wake up.
Germany openly supports KLA terrorists and anyone else who is Serbia's enemy, while doing everything in their power to make Serbia smaller, weaker, and subservient like all our neighbours.
If Tadic was a real man, which he is not, he would have given Merkel a few choice words behind closed doors, and kicked her out of the country. Her support for Thaci's KLA terrorists and the attempted theft of sovereign Serbian land is disgusting. Germans have never brought anything good to Serbia, only death, despair and destruction - and they should be told they are not welcome on Serbian soil, to take their EU and shove it up their.....We need Kostunica back, badly!
Cheers!

Milan,

Game over for the parallel structures.

Guest,

Did you expect Deutsche Welle to publish something else? Does Frau Merkel think that she is God?

"Merkel also said the European Union's EULEX justice mission should be given free rein to operate in Kosovo, and that parallel Serb structures that are still in place there should be dismantled."

Then maybe EULEX should start doing its job by arresting many KLA thugs that hold political positions in "Kosova". The fact that there have been, are, and will be parallel Serbian structures means that "Kosova" is a myth, a monster creation, and a certain failure. Maybe Frau Merkel should start giving the many Turks in Germany autonomy in the areas where they have become a majority. Maybe Frau Merkel should worry about the still relatively lower standard of living in het beloved former-DDR part of Germany.

Kosovo a Switzerland? The joke of the day! It's a matter of fact that Kosovo is the poorest region in Europe, together with Moldova. Don't see the villas of Thaci and other corrupt politicians or 'businessmen'(=mafia bosses) as a sign of wealth.

The link to this article posted below sums up the situation: Poor, corrupt politicians, manipulated elections, 'politicians' who only care for their (illegal) business and not for the state, no real independence, and so on. I just don't see a solution for these imminent problems pointed out by this so-called 'self-determination movement'.

Guest,

Please provide a link of that transcript. If you cannot do that then it is clearly something that you made up because you want something that is a fairy tail. However, if true I would say that Germany should for once and for all stop trying to intervening in Serbia's internal affairs. The have already done more than enough harm. Unfortunately Tadic lacks the courage to tell this publicly or in Frau Merkel's face. She is either ignorant or not very smart when she says those rhetoric statements to please her loyal puppets in Zagreb and Pristina and to try and piss of those stubborn Serbs.

One of the decisive sentences of Chancelor Merkel, Tanjug didn't mentioned (guess why..).

Merkel clearly said that Serbia must stop meddling in the North of Kosovo and allow Pristina to take control over whole Kosovo. That was one of the pillars of her message. "No recognition yet, but steps to normalize the situation". Giving up the North is one.

It doesn't look like it on the ground. Certainly not in the north of Kosovo. Your "kosova army" tried to take over the border but ended up running back to Pristina with their tails between their legs.

"Serbia should look at Croatia which has fulfilled all the conditions for EU membership".

Does one of those conditions include the expulsion of the minority population? Only Serbia and Republika Srpska are left with minorities while Croatia, Kosovo and muslim/croat federation have expelled theirs and are now being rewarded for it. Bringing in fascist Croatia into the EU is just another reason Serbia should not join.

You are right about new roads being built in Kosovo but that is pretty much it. During Serbias rule serbs and albanains lived together. Now they are seperated and they don't trust eachother. Today albanians work for 5 euros per day, if they are lucky to have a job. The unemployment rate is 60 percent. You don't have white schengen and can't travel anywhere?
Even albanians are getting tired of the current situation:

- Fair enough Luan, I agree with you.

"Are you sure Serbian government is better? Both governments in Beograd and Pristina do business with those mafia groups in north Mitrovica."

(Luan, 23 August 2011 16:35)

The problem here, as I see it, is that you specify north Mitrovica... You are correct in that there is no ethnic trouble between gangsters, they only see green. Where I disagree with you is what appears to be your singling out the north as being more "gangster" than the south. In my opinion, Thachi and company are using the north as a diversion so people do not focus on real issues affecting them. The north has very, very little to do with the average Kosovo Albanian. Were Thachi smart he would spend all this energy and effort to fight corruption and bring in investment rather than use the age old tactic of using a group of people as scapegoats. As evidenced by German BND and US sources, Thachi is a criminal of epic proportions. (Then again, the line is usually blurry between criminals and politicians, but I digress.) Were it someone with a relatively clean background calling for rule of law and the like, it would be one thing, but Thachi doing so seems a bit silly to me.

As for life before or after Serbia, I cannot judge since I am neither Albanian or Serb so I will take your word for it - to each his/her own opinions.

We, people of Kosovo (excluding Serbs of north part) , do not think in that way. From your point of view you have right, but it was worst before. Life in Kosovo is three times better than it was during Serbian regime. You should ask Serbs who travel to Kosovo often what do they think. Large roads and highways, which are built, did not exist during Serbian regime in Kosovo. Economy was always broken in Kosovo. Some factories built in Kosovo worked for Beograd not for people of Kosovo. Albanians never enjoyed benefits of these factories, so this is why Albanians are happy with new life. When you say mafia/governmental authorities, this expression works for all Balkan countries. Are you sure Serbian government is better? Both governments in Beograd and Pristina do business with those mafia groups in north Mitrovica.

Kosovo a Switzerland? The joke of the day! It's a matter of fact that Kosovo is the poorest region in Europe, together with Moldova. Don't see the villas of Thaci and other corrupt politicians or 'businessmen'(=mafia bosses) as a sign of wealth.

The link to this article posted below sums up the situation: Poor, corrupt politicians, manipulated elections, 'politicians' who only care for their (illegal) business and not for the state, no real independence, and so on. I just don't see a solution for these imminent problems pointed out by this so-called 'self-determination movement'.

Works every time and is sure to get him those crucial Serb nationalist hardliner votes he needs.

but apparently, he forgot to mention that lovely gift from serbia in 1999, when nearly 1 million albanians were terrorized and deported, some 12,000 murdered, we still don't know how many raped, tortured, properties destoyed. we're still looking for over 1,000 albanian bodies, at least, and 100s of others. which are no longer bodies if you catch my drift.
Thanks, serbia!

for serbia, for tadic, here is the 90s: all sides did bad things, let's get over it. it doesn't quite work that way. belgrade will never again govern Kosova. i mean the whole of kosova. if the belgrade regime really thinks differently, they have some screws loose.

the evil that serbia perpetrated onto the balkans is yet to be dealt with. if left on their own, these crimes will NEVER be dealt with. serbia will simply continue to torment the people of kosova and bosnia, every day, in every way, with their rhetoric, with their policies, and thru their proxies.

the eu members, ethically lax as they may be, will never import all of that cr-p into the eu. they would be insane to, and one thing they are is pragmatic. so -- either belgrade learns to make peace with its neighbors, or is stuck on the not-so-lovely 90s. get it?

How is Germany going to do that, trade in drugs & organs too? Sending German generals enjoying themselves in Pristina with prostitutes forever?
Pointing at Croatia as a lighting example is a Gutspah. They did not deliver Gotovina(Spain arrested him). They did not execute Dayton agreements.Instead they celebrate ethnic cleansing= olluja. "When you say mafia/governmental authorities, this expression works for all Balkan countries."

I see here to many Serbs pretend to care in what state Kosovas economy is when we all know that because of Serbia Kosovo is poor today but much much better then when it was in Yugoslavia. And as somebody mention here we see a big big success that we have nothing to do with Belgrade.

Milan,

My sources are mostly in German, but this one pretty much tells it:

http://www.dw-world.com/dw/article/0,,15337157,00.html

"Merkel also said the European Union's EULEX justice mission should be given free rein to operate in Kosovo, and that parallel Serb structures that are still in place there should be dismantled. "

Game over for the parallel structures.

If you call that progress then you don't know what success is.

MikeC,

One of the factors for success for Albanians in Kosova is having nothing to do with Belgrade and we have been very successful in that.

Cheers!

Oh, pls say it ain't so!!!

So you Tanjug writlings. Next time you tell the half-truth, make sure that you are the only one who can hear the source, because your lies are getting very boring.

"I expect the EU's clear stance on this. We find it unacceptable for those who conduct violence to be awarded," said he.

Here you go Mr.Tadic.You answer your own questions. That is why Serbia that is the main factor of violence in the Belkans shouldn't be rewarded with the EU membership.Even if you ignore the wars of the nineties just three weeks ago you killed an Albanian cop and burned down the customs. So you are right.Violence shouldn't be rewarded.
