"Yet the government does nothing to protect them."

And that's why Serbs shouldn't be voting in the same people. Many get fooled in the run-ups to the elections by false promises of their politicians and also threats and promises by EU countries - but they end up being shafted by all of them. They need to take in account all the previous years and vote according to that and not the last few months of promises and maybe a few bones thrown their way around that time.

And also the army personnel don't really seem that patriotic if they aren't even complaining about these types of deals.

PEN,

There is a major difference between Israel and what Milosevic did and it answers other questions. Under normal circumstances the army should consist of professionally equipped and trained soldiers who have clear command and the command is ethnic-neutral.

Israel has all that - and I dare to say, Russian army in Chechnya also had all that. How it was/is executed is an other question, but the efforts are obvious.

But all this has no comparison to Milosevic because under the "command" of that "hero" and "defender of Serbia" the forces involved in Kosovo had nothing to do with any requirement above. The result we see is the direct consequence of an unprofessionally deployed force - largely not even an army.

Besides the lack of professionalism as a military commander he lacked professionalism as politician, too.
But as a (war) criminal he was professional. And legendary for hating anything even remotely Russian.
(Wonder, why were Russians hesitant to help a criminal who is not only suspected of ethnic cleansing of own citizens - but also hates them?)

The similar result we see in Iraq, too, is the direct consequence of unprofessionalism of American military leaders under Bush. We all remember the looting of Baghdad and that Americans did stand-by doing nothing. That was the moment Iraq was lost.

The Serbian Defense Ministry and VS members have so far been deployed in the UN missions in Liberia, Ivory Coast, Congo, Cyprus and Lebanon."

They should be deployed on other UN missions, more close to Belgrade. 10-20 thousand troops sounds enough for me to secure peace.

You tend to forget without Serbia there would be no need for the closer UN mission, as its primary purpose was to PROTECT the PEOPLE from SERBIA!

Has been tried before and has ended in an epic failure. Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo and now you want Kosovo II? But you as a desktop warrior would for sure volunteer!

Yes Ataman I agree. Serbian citizens in her southern province are under constant siege by Albanian terrorists and their sponsors. Yet the government does nothing to protect them. I admire the Israeli's for their approach. Murder our people and we'll find you wherever you are and make you pay. But of course the Jews have the US on side. The Serbs on the other hand don't. The Americans have decided to use the Albanians for their own purposes and call them their friends. Only they know what their true motives are. Be that as it may, the Serbs are not aggressive enough in using their friends to help them. There are some big players in the world still on side, those the US haven't been able to bully into submission; the Chinese, India, Russia, South Africa, Brazil.
