Looking at criminals like Hashish Baksheesh - there are quite some problem cases with (lack of) besa to be solved.

It is still only some people who think that Kosova is a new country, but for most people, that being, billions of Chinese, millions of Russians, millions of Serbs and Spanish etc Kosovo and Metohija is autonomous region of Serbia. Foreign policy analysts can flex and formulate but until set in concrete we continue to live in muddied waters and slippery slopes just like the bridge that is or maybe going to be built. Respect for Serbia's sovereignty.

The people in this town obviously feel threatened. Do you think it is a history of abuse or attacks by Albanians? Having one less side to defend or watch more carefully would obviously be in their interest.

The history of the Albanians encroaching on others is well known throughout the Balkans. Why do the Venetian Carabinieri hate dealing with the volume of Albanian criminals? Because they act like wild animals and are extremely violent. These are facts not opinions. You can easily find them.

Look at Macedonians problems. From where do they emanate?

Anyone who thinks the status quo will be for centuries either has no intelligence, is a dreamer, or lies so much he even does so to himself.

Criminals always make money. They are in a business with the highest profits. Because of this their economic situation tends to be stable, besides when they are killed or jailed for a time.

Macedonia was bought (or sold, depending on your perspective.) Kosovo was bought or the same. How else can one explain giving a country to people that already have one that does not work?

No one with any common sense would allow another drain on society to be created that knowingly would be a haven for the man's worst values(all types of criminality). Yes. This is when the US comes in. For where else in the world do a group of people put someone in power that has no experience in running anything while their country is on the edge of an economic abyss?

The Balkans will be a blood bath. The borders will change many times more.

The dirt should be red like that in much of Africa with how much blood has been shed.

Right now economics prevents action as well as memories of pain. When the suffering surpasses the concern. When the false knights from the West are too concerned with their own economic distress to bother with protecting the criminals that pay bountiful bribes... the streets will again run red.

This time... the forced emigration will not be stopped by outside powers. Who will be doing the forcing? We shall see.

I know I could not believe that one was not safe in his own country. This is how Kosovo was for Serbs for over 50 years. How could this been acceptable? Why was not the harsh action taken to civilize or remove the uncivilized?

Ah, communism/socialism/titoism, whatever you may call it did wonders. Again, the West can be thanked.

Good luck and my your belief in God be strong.

Amer,

For me both cases are twins and it essentially boils down how both Chinese and Albanians can keep the good intent... and how is the reality. Till now it seems that Dalai Lama was essentially wrong on that, you can't keep the progress out. For the Priluzhje let's hope for the best. Both have valid concerns but regarding technical progress I am ruthless: if you need an 8-lane freeway from Priluzhje to Lhasa with TGV lines along it, than you need it... and you have to build it - regardless of Serbs, Albanians or Chinese because the ethnic tensions can't hold the progress hostage. Otherwise we will live in caves and use sticks not computers. If there is ethnic tension, solve it ASAP regardless the price, with diligence or resourcefulness. After all, this is what people are paying the taxes for.

Hi, Ataman,

The bridge through/past the Serbian village is to allow Albanians to go somewhere else; the bridge to Tibet is to allow China to dilute the local population with Chinese. The Tibetans may not have much, but they have their distinct culture, and have no desire to be "settled" by Chinese.

In the present case, the local Albanians have promised no trouble, and Albanians have a reputation for taking their word seriously. And the General has promised a Kfor outpost to keep an eye on things. As long as the villagers hold their daily hour blockade during lunch hour and don't interfere with the work, there should be no objection, and maybe they'd feel better about the whole thing.

On the other hand, if the Serb community is serious about its long-term survival in Kosovo, people are going to have to get used to the idea that they cannot exist in a bubble. A public meeting in the Serbian village, where Albanian representatives of the surrounding villages respond to questions and objections etc. (presided over by a Kfor representative, if necessary) might help reduce tensions.

Albanians in Kosovo are beating up Serbs, sending armed police to close the administrative line between Kosovo and Serbia, and thereby preventing foot from reaching Serbian dominated areas etc. And now Albanians say they want to build bridges and be friendly with the Serbs. Albanians sure have a strange way of showing hospitality.

You Albanians sit here and say these people are so dumb for doing this but you block our stuff also. As many K-Alb posters said...."You don't take our imports, you can not import". Well, you block us, we block you.
(Steve B., 16 August 2011 17:24)

Com' on man Serbia started that game by blocking our Kosovo goods from entering or going through Serbia. We wanted good neighbourly relations but only on an equal lever. Serbia has no place in Kosovo and that is reality. It's time for Serbia and serbs to understand that Kosovo is not and will never become a part of Serbia.

As for this people who block roads for no reason at all you said they were stupid. It wasen't me.

There is a very interesting analogue. Everyone did hear about probably most sophisticated railway in the world - the Golmud-Lhasa line connecting Tibet to the rest of the world.

All this sounds good, but rarely if ever that railway is mentioned in the "West" without mentioning Dalai Lama who was strongly against it because it would allow ethnic Chinese access Tibet easily.

True, that railway allows Tibetian goods to be sold easier on the other markets, allows Tibetian people travel easier and cheaper and brings more tourists. Instead of 36 hour torture by bus - now it's something like 8 hours in a pretty comfortable train and costs less.

The question: is Dalai Lama right or wrong?

This is a pretty nasty trap from me - because regardless what is the answer, the next question will come regarding Priluzje.

I think, both are wrong for the same reason - but in both cases there weren't sufficient efforts from the authorities to address the main concern of locals. And locals have valid reason to be afraid.

I want to express my view that none of Albanians around prelluzha and Kosova is interesting to have more trouble with Kosovan Serbs ,but problem now is that residents of prilluzha want to victimise themselves they should be happy that new bridge is building, that mentality is out of date they live in Kosova they have every rights they need, why they don't want to live in good with other Albanian population around them,Kosova police will protect them if needed and I'm sure they don't need any protection at all.

Njeri

pre 12 godina

Albanians need the bridge to get to the main road. They are doing very bad without the bridge since they have to take bad alternative roads wich takes them hours to get to their destination. God forbid if somebody got very sick and needed treatment. The road is a good thing for the albanian villages since it would make life easier for them and secure them faster transportation. Why should an serb village make life harder for many albanian villages ? Serbs should know that they live in Kosovo with an majority albanian population so it's their choice to live here.

Serbs cannot block this construction of the bridge forever. What europe do they expect to live in if they block roads everyday to hinder infrastructur construction. Only serbs can do such a thing. We albanians are not isolating them but only serbs isolate them self. They should know that they live in an albanian Kosovo and only by living together with albanians they will have a future in Kosovo. Or else they have to live isolated living only with them self. In the long term that will not function.
