Dragan,
So, now I'm a Serb again?
Before I wasn't, according to you. You said I wasn't because of my "views". Does that mean that a Serb who shares my views also isn't a Serb even if they were born in Serbia and lived all their lives here?
Who appointed you arbiter of who's Serbian and who isn't? Sounds like a terrible burden.
Serbs aren't "my own people". I was born in another country, lived all my life there, know no-one here but tried living here for a few years for kicks.
None of that addresses my point, though.
"Serbs", "Germans", "your people" - these are all constructs that don't actually exist. Your conspiracy theories are non-sense as a result.
As for you equating me with Jovanovic, I could say the same thing about your views and Kostunica. They are both around 5%. Doesn't matter really though as neither of us are eligible (I'm guessing in your case) to vote in Serbian elections and it's all beside the point.
you don't get to decide what's "serbian". No one person does.
pre 12 godina
Maybe you're just out of touch with Serbia.
(Danilo, 13 August 2011 12:31)
This coming from the guy who disrespects and slanders his own people?
'I look down on 'yugoslavs too, btw", even though my grandparents were from these parts.
Why? Because my experience with them is bad. I find them lazy, incompetent, irresponsible and mostly with a childish mentality.
(Danilo, 12 August 2011 17:59) '
You and Ceda Jovanovic have lots in common, you are both self-hating Serbs. Bye the way, Ceda's party has about 5% of the vote, which means that you are both the ones that are out of touch with Serbia.
Be sure to watch the lazy, incompetent Djokovic hold up another trophy this weekend. And when you flick your lights on, remember that it was the lazy, incompetent, Nikola Tesla who discovered alternating current and changed the world forever.
Cheers!!

Mark-The genocide nonsense is getting really old. Get with the historical facts. It is now beyond doubt that no genocide took place in Kosovo. It also doesn't help reconciliation to be spouting this drivel that is not supported by the facts. But that is what has been going on for such a long time, people started to believe it. All independent reports clearly show this to be the case. And please don't bring up Srebrenica, spare us. All those on the ground at the time know what really happened.
pre 12 godina
You further illustrate my point in your post, Dragan.
"Governments reflect the character of the people", "The Serbian government doesn't reflect the people".
You're just expressing your personal views and trying to universalize them. Most Serbs in the diaspora (at least those posting here) are autocrats at heart.
Maybe what's true is that the Serbia government doesn't reflect the character of Serbs attending Serbian picnic in Hamilton, Canada, but the Serbian government was elected democratically by the Serbian people (in Serbia).
Maybe you're just out of touch with Serbia.
pre 12 godina
So, Dragan.
"Germans hate Serbs", yet here you are defining who's a Serb and who isn't.
Can't you see how this sort of thing breaks down pretty quickly?
pre 12 godina
Entry into the EU was never going to be smooth, the Czech Rep. had multiple issues (most imposed and created by Ger / Fra) on their path to joining the bloc, and there wasn't a 2 decade long institutionalization of anti Czech rhetoric in every Western European / North American media outlet preceding their entry talks. Anybody willing to see it could realize that Kosovo was going to be a condition. Hence why nearly every comment that comes out of any member of the Serbian gov't has the caveat "...Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia... or ...We wont be asked to choose between EU or Kosovo..." This isn't meant to be a conspiracy theory such as "revenge for wwi", because it's not about revenge, its about economic and political control. Hence why the EU (and NATO for that matter) expands to countries that really have no place being in the same "club". Problem is most people are willing to go along with it because there is the hope of "greener pastures". Its similar to the whole myth of the "American Dream", which incidentally plays a large part of the current economic fiasco in the US.

Actually, Dragan, "Serbs" and "Germans" any notion of "a people" are ontological constructs, sometimes useful for communication and cultural short-hand, but not something that actually exists.
"Serbs and Germans are enemies" is actually a meaningless sentence. Which Serbs? Which Germans? How do you define "Serb" or "German". Am I a Serb?
(Danilo, 12 August 2011 20:53)
Getting philosophical are we? Judging by your views I would say your are definitely not a Serb, you are the self-hating type who would be happy to call himself a German if you live in Germany, even though Germans would never have you or respect you.
Which Serbs, which Germans you ask? The German government and the Serbian government. Governments are like people, however, and take on the personality of their populations. Although this temporary Serbian sell-out government does not reflect the Serbian character at all, and that is why they will get the boot soon. They were installed to serve the interests of our enemies (you can guess who this is I'm sure), and not the interests of Serbs.

What a irresponsible gov't official. "Turns out those suspicions may have been right?" This is what the Serbian people are paying you to do? This entire government needs to go. Serbia's most important institutions needs to be cleansed of corruption and people using the system for themselves.
You have been lied too Serbian people. These "officials" knew all along these were conditions for joining the EU. The irony is if Brussels handed us back all of Kosovo (that's really who controls most of it) then still joining it would really be "counter productive" as Ljajic said.
This governments ONLY job is to serve foreign interests. They will not put Serbs over the EU so they got to go. They occupy Serbia's most important institutions and need to be voted out and then arrested if convicted of violating the Serbian Constitution.
Meanwhile Albanians in Kosovo go to villages south of the Ibar and burn Serbian houses because well, there are too many Serbs even in Zvecan for the Albs to confront. This way sends a bigger message with the comfort of outnumbering Serbs.
I would have more respect for you if you went to Leposavic and tried burning anything. This is just cowards doing what cowards have always done.

pre 12 godina
It is exactly this minister's way of thinking that brought up to others that the Serbian government knew, where Karadzic, Mladic and Hadzic were hiding, and that they only were waiting for the right moment to bring them in to getting 'rewarded'. For what? Bringing in criminals, internationally wanted by an UN-Court, is a duty of every nation. Kosovo is a totally different chapter in the story of the time after the Balkan wars. It is right that Milosevic was the last one with power in Kosovo, and what he did with it has led to the present situation. Kosovo - taking UNSC resolution 1244 - is under international supervision, which means that KFOR has the power over the whole of the region, including the North. EULEX was accepted by the Serbian government as the successor of UNMIK with also judicial power all over the region. The developments of the last five years after the start of the negotiations over Kosovo's status, the failure to come to a solution, Kosovo's declaration of independence, the recognition by most of the industrial Western states etc. did put Serbia before the dilemma: Kosovo or EU. This government and also the opposition are still telling that, if they have to choose that it will be Kosovo. In the meantime has this country developed relations on the level of exchange of ambassadors with some of the diplomatically most influential countries who certainly won't back down and will reverse their decision. I think it is up to the Serbian government and people to make up their mind, because sooner or later it will be clear that it won't work to have both (Kosovo and EU), which is the slogan until now. I don't know how the Serbian think how they could regain control over Kosovo again. My opinion is: "never"! Well guys: Tadic, Jeremic, Ljajic, Bogdanovic and all others, MAKE UP YOUR MIND! It is not only Germany, though some (like Dragan) are thinking that. Great Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Canada or the US, they all will not move back and will stay with their decision. Thinking otherwise is believing in fairy-tales.

So, Dragan.
"Germans hate Serbs", yet here you are defining who's a Serb and who isn't.
Can't you see how this sort of thing breaks down pretty quickly?

What a sweet and supple fellow you are Danilo!
Uncle Soros says hi.

What did Rasim Ljajić expect? Rightly, the EU expects Serbia to sort out the mess it has created during the past two decades. Acknowledge your responsibility. Respect your neighbours. Comply with your international obligations. Only then Serbia is welcome to join a union of democratic states. So Mr Ljajić, more work to be done!
pre 12 godina
More BS from Serbia's politicians.

Serbs are the new Palestinians - Never missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

oh god, Dragan.
amazing that people actually believe this stuff.
would be hilarious if it weren't tragic
pre 12 godina
no, Dragan. The 'problem' with me is I actually live in the modern world.
Revenge for WWI? Revenge for WWII?? You honestly think Germans sit around thinking about this stuff?
Germans are successful people. They haven't much use, unlike Serbs, for sitting around and nursing historical grievances, real or imagined.
pre 12 godina
Please remember that not all EU countries recognize Kosovo as independent and new governments in the countries that do may withdraw recognition.
pre 12 godina
After Serbia has given up Kosovo and Republika Srpska it will be asked to solve the Palestinian problem, Northern Ireland and the conflict between India and Pakistan. Serbia will also be asked to solve the huge deficit in the American economy and the murder of John F. Kennedy. Then, and maybe then, Serbia will be getting EU candidate status. The EU is just around the corner for Serbia. Oh joy! Europe, here we come!
pre 12 godina
Finaly someone has openly admitted that the German anti-Serbian foreign policy has been adopted by the EU, and they want revenge for WWI and WWII, and want to reward all their loyal allies from those wars - namely Croats, Bosnian Muslims, and albanians, who vehemently supported the Nazis (that's a fact). I wish the other politicians would wake up and realize this.
The EU are not our friends, and Serbia should stay out of that immoral club. Serbian currency should be maintained, which will give us a huge trade advantage.
pre 12 godina
After Kosovo be sure that UE will ask Belgrade to resolve the "bosnian problem" by the way the bosno-serbs will have to loose their autonomy.
pre 12 godina
I really have nothing more to say.
If you really think that Germany is plotting revenge over WWI, then you should get your head examined.
or maybe just pat yourself on the back for the rest of you life for knowing the "real" truth.
I look down on 'yugoslavs too, btw", even though my grandparents were from these parts.
Why? Because my experience with them is bad. I find them lazy, incompetent, irresponsible and mostly with a childish mentality.
I'm sure if you ran into others looking down on them, it's more likely for the above reasons rather than some sort of obtuse historical reason.
pre 12 godina
Actually, Dragan, "Serbs" and "Germans" any notion of "a people" are ontological constructs, sometimes useful for communication and cultural short-hand, but not something that actually exists.
"Serbs and Germans are enemies" is actually a meaningless sentence. Which Serbs? Which Germans? How do you define "Serb" or "German". Am I a Serb?
pre 12 godina
oh god, Dragan.

(Danilo, 12 August 2011 15:12)
And it is because of naive people like you that we have the yellow traitors in power in Serbia. The problem with you people is that you listen to what these governments say, and not look at what they do. Everything Germany has done has been to Serbia's detriment, everything. From bullying Europe into premature recognition of Croatia and Bosnia, to that policy tha Yugoslavia's borders can be changed while Croatia's and Bosnia's can not, and to pushing Europe to recognize Kosovo, and now saying that Kosovo's borders can not be changed......the evidence is overwhelming, all you have to do is open your eyes.
Now we have a this German Buhler, who is married to an albanian, trying to run Kosovo - Serbian land - telling Serbs what to do. All will be well in Serbia when the unwelcome Germans go back home where they belong. That day is coming.
Cheers!
pre 12 godina
Danilo,
Have you ever talked to a German? I have, I've dealt with many. They are very educated (unlike Americans), they know their history, and they know very well who Serbs are. They are also very anti-Serb in their views (take a wild guess why). They look down upon all 'Yugoslavs', but know we are the ones who cause them the most grief, and the ones that are not obedient to their wishes.
That, my friend, is the real world, and that is reality. I live in reality, you don't.
Cheers!!

Rasim Ljajić has said that “his suspicions that The Hague condition was only a smokescreen for Kosovo have come true”.
So are the suspicions that Serbia didn't really want the war criminals that caused the genocide in Bosnia be sent to Hague. Sebia did it not because it was the right moral thing to do but because wanted to be rewarded with the EU candidate status.Well as you can see you cannot outsmart people who have invented diplomacy.Sticks and carrots.
pre 12 godina
Thinking otherwise is believing in fairy-tales.
pre 12 godina
Et voila ! a new-old argument from mr.jdknight...wait and hope things can change ...there has been an hope in the Serbian governament of some kind of change of opinion in some Eu countries...we all know that for some the Kosovo recognition has been a problem and only the Us push has made the decision a done deal..now Kosovo is a mess but also Serbia... the Tadic posse has not focused his attention that also their behaviour and how they rule the country is under Eu scrutiny and htey are not receving a good vote...so it's true that kosovo governament is not in the heart of many Eu politicians but also Serbia is not in the first spots of any Eu member..so i don't think that any change of governament will mean some possible withdrawn of recognitions -
pre 12 godina

Why worry about EU and getting there when is clear as a day with France banking system going down the same route that Greece is going,EU dreams are just that..They have nothing over our heads any more-China is looking for a new currency and it won`t be euro or dollar..so my Serbs all we can say to French and Germans is -send more ugly people to Kosovo real soon... like Kushner and Buehler, albanians are not going to push young girls on you if they can`t use you..
pre 12 godina
You further illustrate my point in your post, Dragan.
"Governments reflect the character of the people", "The Serbian government doesn't reflect the people".
You're just expressing your personal views and trying to universalize them. Most Serbs in the diaspora (at least those posting here) are autocrats at heart.
Maybe what's true is that the Serbia government doesn't reflect the character of Serbs attending Serbian picnic in Hamilton, Canada, but the Serbian government was elected democratically by the Serbian people (in Serbia).
Maybe you're just out of touch with Serbia.

So this month we have seen the CIA abandon Kosovo to the BND. My bet is something wonderful is about to happen if a certain President wakes up.
Kosovo's economic situation is in dire straights a major % of it's food imports comes from Serbia, the EU clamped down on Kosovo's fiscal policy to no avail & most importantly we see the average Albanian is starting to be disenchanted with with their leadership. No, the US has seen their is no light at the end of the tunnel here, so it left the naive Germans to hold the baby before it starts crying.

Even more, they (well, most of them) are not proud of the wrongdoings of their ancestors in WW2. They admitted their guilt, took responsibility for the horrendous crimes, and accepted that Germany lost a lot of territory because of its own aggression. And they don't glorify the WW2 'heroes' who slaughtered civilians, telling that they only 'defended Germandom'

Russians already have a presence in Serbia (Russian Base). You may think this is for humanitarian reasons but I assure it has a Militray Component. What do you think the Russians have planned for Nato? LOL!

"Minister: Hague was just smokescreen for Kosovo"
And probably Kosovo is just smokescreen for something else. And that something else will be just smokescreen for something even worse. If you really have to be a paranoid government, at least go all the way.
P.S. anybody knows where Ataman is?
