The Croatian Foreign Ministry today protested against “unfounded and negative media content” about Croatia broadcast by <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/society-article.php?yyyy=2011&mm=08&dd=04&nav_id=75762" class="text-link" target= "_blank">a private Serbian television station</a>.
Dearie me! You Serbs are quite the bitter lot (both rich and not so rich to be clear), given your series of lost wars and shrinking population and shrinking borders. You really should be thankful that you are allowed to sell your raspberries and pigs to Europe at large, lest any other "collective humiliations"---be they economic or political "injustices" thust upon thee would---I am quite sure---bring a level of embarassment to your country that far exceeds the insane aggression that is running riot in London.
Why waste tears crying and embarrassing yourselves all over google and front pages when Mama Germany doesn't always "change your diapers" when you want? Do they really think that they can pretend to make reforms when Brussels has mandated specialist teams to ensure that Croatia fulfills the remaining chapters of the acquis communautiare before officially joining?
This is quite a dumb reaction by Zagreb and will be noted in Brussels. The former can expect a quiet word on the next meeting of 'issues to be discussed'.
Freedom of speech? Slovenia blocked Croatia progress to the EU over 'their' coast line as Slovenia is an EU ms and Croatia is not. I'm sure Croatia will try the same to Serbia on other issues though due to Lisbon (2014+), unanimity is no longer needed for accession to the EU and it becomes QMV, making it impossible for a single EU ms to block the accession of a non-member state to the EU.
